our bowling enthusiasts gather together for lots of fun and laughter. There is a great sense of

rivalry between the players as each tries to outdo / outmanoeuvre the others. This particular

day we had just a small group as some of our regulars were otherwise indisposed

nevertheless the competition was just as fierce.

Game one is played with a target where the goal is to get the

highest score with a perfect score being 200. Each person takes

their turn to bowl their first ball then we go around to bowl the

second. Highest score wins the round and most wins takes out

the game.

In game two we take away the target and the kitty is placed in

the centre of the floor. If they touch the kitty with their bowl

they get two points and closest bowl to the kitty at the end of

the round scores an extra point. The winner is the person with

the highest score at the end of the game. This game causes

As you get older, three things happen:

The first is your memory goes …

… and I can’t remember the other two.

RSA Singers

We have had the RSA singers entertain during April. They chose Anzac as their theme for

the concert, donning military apparel and singing songs from the war era, much to the

delight of those who attended.

Phil Steans Entertains

We were also spoilt to have the very talented Phil Steans visit. Phil comes across from Nelson

several times a year to entertain at the various rest homes in Marlborough. He is always a

delight to have as he sings a wide variety of songs and we love singing along.

His concerts always draw a good sized crowd and are over far too quickly as far as we are

concerned.

Phil will be back with us later in the year ... we can't wait.

Spotlight on Staff

The spotlight this issue is on our Clinical Nurse Manager,

Suzanne Grenfell. When she is not at Redwood she leads a

very full life with her family, horses and soccer taking up a

lot of her leisure time.

Our candid reporter captured these images in a recent

game of soccer at A&P Park. That’s Suzanne in the bright

yellow top, protecting the goal of the opposing team.

Her daughters, Caitlyn and Maddi also play for the

Redwood Club ladies team.
