”Do you hear that?” shouted the frightenedanimals.
”What is that sound?” cried the terrified birds.

’Vroom! Vroom! Move out of the way! Look outlittle rabbit, take care dear Mrs. Duck, pleasebeware cute little cat. If you don’t move, mytires will crush you. Vroom! Vroom!’

All the animals turned and ran from thebooming voice and the noise of somethinghuge crashing through the forest.

Suddenly, something burst through the trees.It was Bonney the horse!
He skidded to a stop. ”Beep! Beep! Oh, I usedmy brakes just in time. Mrs. Goose, pleasekeep your goslings away from my tires.”

All the animals burst into laughter.
’What is so funny?’ Bonney asked.

’Are my back doors open? Are my front tirespunctured? Is my front mirror tilted the wrongway?’
They animals were laughing so hard, theycould not answer Bonney’s questions.

’Bonney, why are you pretending to be a car?”Rabbit asked.
”I’m not pretending. I am a car. I have fourdoors. Beep! Beep! Beep . . . Vroom,’ Bonneyreplied with a smile.

Mrs. Goose pointed to her reflection in thelake. ’Bonney, you are a horse! H-o-r-s-e.’

Bonney looked at his reflection, then shook hishead. ’I can’t see a horse.’
He opened his mouth and said, ’Look at thisengine! I put oil in there to keep things runningsmoothly.”
Mrs. Duck laughed and tried to convince himagain. ’You are a horse, with four hooves,Look!!’
Bonney stomped his feet. ’I have four tires, andI drink gasoline to move.’

Cat tried talking to Bonney too. ’You are ahorse. You have beautiful long tail. Look!’
Bonney shook out his tail. ’No, this is my backtrunk. It’s where I keep people’s belongings.’

’Vroom!” Bonney whinnied confidently. ’I’m acar. I go beep! beep! to warn people in thestreets. Beep! Beep!’

The animals agreed they should call a doctor togive Bonney a check up.

Bonney was curiouswhy a doctor was inspecting him. ”Are you amechanic?” he asked.
The doctor shook his head, and smiled. ’Youdon’t look like a car to me!”

’Yes I am! I drive fast and go beep! beep! towarn people in the streets.”

All night the animals talked about how theycould convince Bonney he was a horse and nota car.

The nextmorning, while they were still workingon a solution, they heard a strange noise.

”Do you hear that?” shouted the frightenedanimals.
”What is that sound?” cried the terrified birds.

’Chugga chugga choo choo! The railway trainis on its way!”

The animals all smiled. They decided the bestsolution to help Bonney was to jump on thetrain.
’Chugga chugga choo choo!’ they all shoutedtogether.
