    Preface

    This Project is a part of 1203302 Project Feasibility Study and Evaluation Course in

    the second semester of 2010, Mathematical approach for project analysis in feasibility and

    return on investment; evaluation process; business case studies. In this project is studying

    the feasibility of Florist shop business in Chiang Rai, which is include generally of Florist

    shop business, management in Florist shop business, competition analysis and marketing

    feasibility, the technical process in Florist shop business, the financial feasibility of Florist

    2.1 Nature of Industry

    The flowers and artificial flowers from a product that is one of the important export

    of Thailand so, the value of exports per year 3000-4000 Million Baht Enable the income

    from abroad as many. Now, artificial flowers manufacturers in Thailand are many and the

    location scattered throughout the country. In most will bring together a group of local

    women.

    As part of the production, distribution itself and another part is the order it from a factory

    to produce the festival. The manufacturer of a large amount that has been promoted and

    opened today with 24 cases, mainly to produce flowers is Polyester and stick made of

    plastic. The artificial flowers are now using several of materials such as artificial flowers

    made of stockings and artificial flowers made of cloth. But the flowers are the most popular

    is artificial flowers are made of Polyester because flowers are made of polyester

    produced by modern technology. So, the leaves are the size requirements. The majority of

    the types the vines are ornamental in the Christmas season. The artificial flowers have to be

    2.2 Situation of Industry

    The floral industry is one of the major industries in many developing and

    underdeveloped countries. Floriculture as an industry began in the late 19th century in

    England, where flowers were grown on a large scale on the vast estates. The present day

    floral industry is a dynamic, global, fast-growing industry, which has achieved significant

    growth rates during the past few decades. In the 1950s, the global flower trade was less

    than US$3 billion. By 1992, it had grown to US$100 billion. In recent years, the floral

    industry has grown six percent annually, while the global trade volume in 2003 was

    US$101.84 billion.

    Some flowers are sent packed flat in boxes. This enables large amounts of flowersto be packed in small spaces like aircraft holds. Other flowers cannot survive for long

    periods out of water such as orchids, gerberas (Gerber daisies) and water lilies. These are

    either sent with their own sealed water container (called picks) on each stem end - for more

    expensive or tropical flowers - or are transported in buckets of water. The latter method

    extends the life of flowers and reduces labor time as flowers are ready for sale, but

    obviously also reduces the amount of flowers that can be transported as they are much

    heavier than dry-packed flowers and hence air transportation charges are higher.

    Flowers take a number of routes to the consumer, depending on where they are

    grown and how they are to be sold. Some growers cut and pack flowers at their nurseries,

    sending them directly out to the consumer by mail order. Some flowers are sent to packing

    companies, who grade the flowers and arrange them in bunches for sale to supermarkets or

    to deliver by mail order. Some flowers are graded and sleeved by the growers and sold at

    wholesale flower markets; the wholesalers then sell them on to florists who condition and

    arrange the flowers for the consumer.

    Over the past 10 years, retail florist shop sales have blossomed and are growing

    steadily. Flowers have the advantage of being personal, yet professional. They can be

    designed to fit the tastes of friends and family or those of co-workers (anyone from the

    Geography

    Chiang Rai is the northernmost province of Thailand. Neighbouring provinces are

    from east clockwise Phayao, Lampang and Chiang Mai. In the north it borders Shan State

    of Myanmar and Bokeo of Laos.

    Geography

    The average elevation of the province is 580 m. The north of the province belongsto the so-called Golden Triangle, at which the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar

    The majority of the population are generally ethnic Thai, but 12.5% of the

    population belong to the hill tribes, a minority in the North of Thailand. A minority are of

    Chinese descent, mainly descendants of the Kuomintang soldiers who settled in the region,

    notably Santikhiri.
