Welcome back to all students and staff for the

2014 school year. It will be another year of positive learning opportunities and experiences for all students.

In particular I would like to welcome the Year 7 students and other students who are commencing their studies at Billabong High School for the first time.

I would like to welcome some new staff members to the school:

Mr Cameron Abood-Multi-categorical class teacher Ms Belinda McGrath-English/Drama Ms Clare Holloway-TAS Mrs Fiona Jackson-Technical Support Officer Mrs Sharon Honeywill-Technical Support Officer.

The following is the list of Year Advisers for 2014: Year 7 Mrs Morgan Year 8 Mr Duke Year 9 Mr Mackinlay Year 10 Mrs Torocsik Year 11 Mr Lawson Year 12 Mrs O’Riain.

Please feel free to contact these staff members if you have any questions about your son’s/daughter’s progress at school or any general questions.

Special Religious Education (S.R.E) will run again this year with Mr David Reeks. Students will be taught on a non-denominated basis once a fortnight in Year 7 and 8.

If you don’t wish for your child to participate in these lessons please send a note into the school stating this.

Principal’s Report Cont... Parents are reminded that the school does have Ambulance cover if required for sick or injured students. However, there is no injury cover insurance. Costs associated with this are covered by Medicare or Private cover. There are companies that offer 24 hour insurance coverage but it is up to the individual parents to take this out.

Congratulations to Gemma Wall and Dylan Jones who did an outstanding job in representing the school at the Greater Hume Shire Council Australia Day Celebrations.

The first major whole school sporting carnival will take place on Friday February 7. All students are expected to attend the school swimming carnival.

AUSTRALIA DAY CELEBRATIONS Australia Day Celebrations held at Burrumbuttock with Gemma Wall and Dylan Jones representing Billabong High School. Their speech was excellent and I have received a lot of positive feedback. A Student Medical Details and Health Conditions form has been sent home with each student.

If your child has any medical or health conditions the school needs to know about they must be recorded on this new form.

Please ensure that your child’s name is printed clearly at the top of the page and the form is returned to the school as soon as possible.
