BIC Sport is THE worldwide watersports specialist. Founded in 1979 and long-established on the Breton coast in France, BIC Sport was created by Baron Bich, a man passionate about the sea and sailing who used his industrial prowess and know-how to develop modern windsurfing, the first grass roots board sport of the 1980s. Quickly established as the world leader in windsurf manufacture, BIC Sport has, in the last twenty years, diversified into other market segments including surf, kayak, junior racing dinghies and, most recently, into Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP). Every BIC Sport manufactured board has been conceived by an expert shaper and made in France using production systems that faithfully reproduce perfect copies of the original prototypes. The unique construction and materials guarantee you many years of reliable, high performance service.

Today, BIC Sport is acknowleged as the pioneer of mass-production surf boards in the highly demanding surfer market ; but it’s also one of the European leaders in the Sit-on-Top kayak market thanks to its range of innovative products that have won them numerous design awards. On the competition scene, BIC Sport created a brand new concept in junior windsurfing with the BIC Techno 293 One Design board, which has now become the officially recognised race board for Under 17 riders worldwide. This monotype/formula race class has grown at an incredible rate in over 30 countries already. Now BIC Sport has re-created the same energy with its junior race dinghy, the truly innovative O’pen BIC, which has totally remotivated the world of junior sailing. Latest into the board sports roster, Stand Up Paddle, is currently an area of specially dynamic development. It’s a sport that’s growing at a phenomenal rate, one that represents more than ever the values of simplicity and accessibility that have made the BIC brand such a long-standing success.

Ecoride recognition

Developed by EuroSIMA Cluster in collaboration with the ADEME, Ecoride is a tool which provides the ability to measure and determine environmental efforts of companies within the boardsports industry. BIC Sport got this recognition thanks to its implementation of an environmental management system for the entire company.

BIC Sport has been manufacturing watersport products for over 30 years. Long before there was any awareness of environmental issues, it was keen to use a « clean » manufacturing process whereby materials could be recycled, and the production process did not involve gas emissions. From start to end of life-cycle, BIC Sport products are environmentally-friendly.

Sustainable development:

a major priority for BIC Sport

Hollow Twin-Sheet thermoforming

The principle : two slabs (deck and hull) are heat-moulded in an aluminium mould then pressure-fused together. The whole thing is then cooled and taken for finishing in the workshops.

Products using this technique : kayaks, O’pen BIC, tenders and dinghies

Thermoforming around a polystyrene core

The principle : a polystyrene blank is covered with fibreglass layers which is then impregnated with resin before being moved to a mould containing two prepared thermomoulded ASA finishing sheets. The mould is pressure-sealed, then cooled, the finished product extracted and sent for finishing.

Products using this technique : CTS windsurf boards, E-Comp surf boards, ACE-TEC SUP boards.

Blow moulding/Blown extrusion

The principle : a tube of extruded (molten) polyethylene is gravity-moulded and then shaped by being blown against the inner walls of its hollow mould. Next it’s cooled, taken out of the mould and moved to a steel shaper where it is expansion-filled with high density polyurethane foam.

Products using this technique : Beach windsurf boards, ACS surf boards, DURA-TEC SUP boards.

BIC Sport is the proud owner of an industrial tool that is unique in the world, capable of three different manufacturing techniques : thermoforming, thermoforming around a polystyrene core, and blow moulding/blown extrusion. BIC Sport is the only manufacturer in the world to have these three manufacturing techniques available on one production site. This enables us to produce six different product types.

Big passion, big talent

Eric is a board sports fanatic. Son of windsurfing parents, he got into watersports during his childhood. Starting with sailing, he moved onto all sorts of boarding (bodyboard, surf and windsurf) during the early 90s while living on Reunion in the Indian Ocean. As the 90s became the noughties he set up home for himself in the Canary Islands to live out his windsurf dream. It was a little later, in Australia, that he discovered SUP... «I spent two years on the Australian west coast, where I first saw a SUP in the waves. In 2007 I visited Hawaii and saw how the sport was really taking off. Back in Perth I got myself straight onto a huge 12’ SUP. By the time I got back to Europe the following year I was totally hooked !». Eric won the first competition he ever entered, at Las Palmas in the Canaries in 2009, but it was in Hamburg in June that year that he caused a sensation by finishing 2nd at the Jever SUP World Cup, just behind Ekolu Kalama, the big man of that particular moment. That proved to be the start of a top level SUP career that has seen him dominate the sport in Europe since. Eric is currently ranked in the world top 5.

The pioneer

Hardcore surfer since 1969, Gérard Dabbadie shaped his first ever board in 1973. Since then more than 10,000 boards have been born from his hands... A serial French Champion, 1975 European Champion, Gerard has been custom shaping for some of Europe’s top surfers for years under his brand name Superfrog. In 1993 BIC Sport got involved in surf boards and called in Gerard to help them deliver the first ever mass-production board in the history of surfing : the 7’9 Natural Surf, which was an instant hit and helped create the BIC legend. The adventure went on, with the release of new «Dabbadie» signature shortboards and longboards. All manufactured in their tens of thousands and all worldwide successes. For the last few years Gerard has also been BIC Surf’s commercial director in France, helping him keep his close ties to the surf scene that has always driven him.

The expertise

With over 20 years of experience in the Action Sports and Paddlesports Industries Jimmy has done it all: brand manager, marketing director, product developer, US National Champion kayaker, coach/instructor

and brand ambassador. When SUP began to appear in America, Jimmy was quickly hooked and put his knowledge and experience into

the development of the sport. Currently BIC Sport’s SUP product and marketing manager, he works in close collaboration with shaper Patrice

Remoiville on the direction and development of new boards, paddles and product refinements. An ACA-certified instructor and instructor

trainer, he’s heavily involved in the direction and evolution of SUP, and his rigorous approach to all aspects of the sport is a real plus for both

the product development and promotion of BIC SUP.

The icon

Peter Pan got his nickname at a surf contest in the 60s when the announcer couldn’t pronounce his full last name, Panagiotis. Today «Pan» is a surf legend of the eastern coast of the USA with more than 40 years of round the clock surfing under his belt and induction into the Surfing Hall of Fame in 1996. A versatile waterman, Peter has directed numerous surfing competitions and holds countless shortboarding, longboarding, bodyboarding and kneeboarding titles. His motto: “Function over fashion”. He likes to compare his surfboards to the original Volkswagen Beetles. They are designed to be an easy ride for a low price, so everyone can get around. Pete is a colourful character and one of surfing’s greats, he’s been an integral part of the BIC Sport Research and Design Team for more than a decade.

The experience

Patrice has the strength of vision and purpose needed to head up the development of SUP boards at BIC Sport. A graduate of the French

Atlantic school, this board fanatic has more than 25 years of shaping, composite materials and polyurethane foam-work experience to draw

on. He’s BIC SUP’s commercial director for France, spreading the word on the competition and promo tours, giving him access to direct

feedback from riders of all skill levels. He’s currently based at our new research and development centre in Vannes, Brittany.

This is where he works in close collaboration with riders Eric Terrien and David Latastere, and our man in America, Jimmy Blakeney,

on all our new boards and accessories.

Cross over generation

Carine Camboulives and Manu Bouvet have both been part of the BIC Sport team for several years. Their shared passion for windsurfing

led them to set up home on the island of Maui, the board sports mecca, nearly 20 years ago. Into windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing and Stand Up, Carine and Manu are living their dream, and as a couple have become

a symbol of the multi-sport «crossover» scene. They’ve used their board sports as a pretext for a series of extended foreign trips, looking for

as-yet undiscovered board sport destinations. Their photos and articles covering their travels are in all the media. Their vast experience in board

sports is invaluable to the BIC brand.

Three technologies for optimal SUP performance

ACE-TEC and DURA-TEC are the latest technologies specially created by BIC Sport for Stand Up Paddleboards. Exclusive to BIC Sport, they are produced in France at our own manufacturing facility where we’ve been building boardsports equipment since 1979. BIC Sport is the only manufacturer in Europe to have mastered composite material technology, thermoformed in aluminum molds to guarantee exact replicas of the original shapes designed by the shaper and riders.

C-TEC

C-TEC (Custom-Technology) SUPs are constructed with a light polystyrene core wrapped in several fiberglass layers with clear epoxy resin and finished with a full bamboo reinforced deck for added beauty and durability. C-TEC boards deliver proven shapes with advanced epoxy construction for optimized performance.

DURA-TEC

DURA-TEC technology features a molded polyethylene shell (similar to the shell of our rugged kayaks but lighter weight) injected with polyurethane surfboard foam for authentic boardsport performance. This exclusive BIC Sport technology allows your new Stand Up Paddleboard to survive knocks and bumps that would see a fibreglass board out of the water requiring repairs.

ACE-TEC

BIC Sport thermoformed construction, fine-tuned for performance Stand Up Paddling. These boards are made from a molded, low-density polystyrene core wrapped in fiberglass and epoxy resin with a durable, UV resistant ASA polymer skin for added protection. This unique technology produces stiff, lightweight, high-performance boards with proven durability and exact shapes. If you’re looking for a premium board without the premium price, ACE-TEC delivers. ACE-TEC is the ideal material for SUPs. A composite of a polystyrene core covered with glass fibre and epoxy followed by a thermoformed finishing coat results in light weight boards that are rigid and highly knock-resistant. Premium quality without the premium price ! These three boards are shaped for versatility, equally efficient in small waves and on the flat, delivering superb glide and excellent manoeuvrability.

ACE-TEC 9’6’’

Designed as an all-round performer for light weight riders (under 140lbs/65kg), this SUP is also suited as a performance surf SUP to medium weight riders (up to 180lbs/80kg). The balanced rocker profile, smooth outline and progressive bottom contours lend themselves to surf performance without sacrificing flatwater glide. A fully convertible 2+1 FCS fin configuration allows the rider to optimize performance by matching fin selection for either surf or flatwater conditions. The 10’6’’ ACE-TEC SUP is designed as an all-round performer for riders up to 180lbs/80kg and as a performance surf SUP for riders up to 220lbs/100kg. The 11’6’’ ACE-TEC SUP is an ideal all-around SUP for novice riders up to 260lbs/120kg and will perform in the surf zone for more advanced paddlers up to 300lbs. Volume is evenly spread throughout the board and its finely balanced rocker and longboard-style outline make it easy to handle in flatwater conditions without reducing agility in the surf zone. The FIT-SUP is based on our extremely popular and stable 10’6’’ ACE-TEC model, but adds additional features for fitness paddlers as well as anyone looking for a customizable all-around SUP. Five deck attachment points are ideal for securing gear for fitness/yoga use (resistance bands, paddle leash, anchor, etc.) and are perfect for attaching a bungee cord for general gear storage. An elongated deck pad allows full use of the board for yoga/fitness routines and is also great for a pet or child to ride on the front of the board! Pure!The C-TEC range comprises a selection of the best boards shaped by two of the big names in the business, to satisfy even the most demanding of riders. Peter Hosking (Australia) is the name on the Classic, designed for mixed flat and wave riding, and Patrice Remoiville is responsible for the new Wave Pro, a wave board designed in collaboration with our rider David Latastere. Classic Series - Wood

The BIC Classic shapes are an industry leading icon thanks to their authentic longboard design with the perfect balance of flat-water glide and wave riding performance. The 2013 models keep the best of the original shapes with design tweaks to improve performance and stability for a wider range of users. All Classics feature a full Bamboo deck for added strength as well as beauty. Ideally sized for the athletic beginner or riders ‘moving up’ to their first performance oriented SUP board. Premium deck pad, carry handle and FCS fin included.

Wave Pro

The new Wave Pro series was built from the ground up for maximum surf performance without sacrificing user-friendly accessibility. A unique chine, bottom contour and rocker profile combined with a pulled in tail and 5-fin configuration delivers maximum speed and manoeuvrability off the tail. Dial in the size that’s right for you and you’ll have a one-board quiver. Designed and tested in the European surf capital of Hossegor, France with BIC SUP pro rider ‘Davos’and input from the international team of SUP riders. Shaped by Patrice Remoiville. Comes standard with carry handle, 5 fin-box set-up, FCS Kai Sallas performance thruster set. Deck pad not included to allow for custom grip set-up and minimal weight.

Directly modelled on the winning shapes used by our international rider Eric Terrien, the Race Pro boards are no-concession boards for expert level riders, but which will be of huge interest to the intermediate level paddler too. Designed for maximum speed and control by our shaper Patrice Remoiville, they’re manufactured in RACE-TEC, a composite construction that is ultra light weight and ultra rigid. Proven winners on the competition podiums, and for sheer paddling pleasure.


If you’re looking to be competitive in the 12’6 ‘stock’ class, the Race-Tec 12’6 will put you in contention. This board is a result of multiple versions of Eric Terrien’s winning 12’6 boards, blending the best characteristics into a single platform that features speed without the quirkiness that can go along with narrower race designs. Designed to excel in a variety of conditions from calm flatwater venues to challenging and choppy open ocean courses.


14’ers are fast, and fun to paddle, especially for longer distance race courses, or long-distance adventures. The Race-Tec 14’ features a unique hull design that reduces drag and maximizes speed. Low entry-rocker increases efficiency and moderate tail-rocker allows for control, manoeuvrability and glide when catching bumps. A water-shedding deck keeps the nose up and out of chop. Designed by Patrice Remoiville along with pro rider Eric Terrien.

Redesigned for 2013, the SUP AIR range features a rigid, durable and versatile platform for SUP riders looking for ease of transport and storage. With a 6” thickness and 15psi maximum inflation these boards paddle more like rigid epoxy boards than traditional inflatables. SUP Soft 10’6’’ & 11’0’’

Redesigned for 2013, SOFT SUP boards are built just like a standard Epoxy board, but are then wrapped in a soft yet durable EVA skin on the deck and rails and a tough-skin bottom. This allows the board to perform like a “real” SUP but with the benefits of a softer outer shell for a more user-friendly experience. A 3/4 length EVA grooved deck pad transitions seamlessly into the smooth and soft EVA material on the nose, making these boards ideal for bringing pets and kids along, as well as for fitness and yoga routines. 10” soft fin (standard US fin box), carry handle and leash plug included.

Two fully redesigned blade shapes (designed and tested by Patrice Remoiville and Jimmy Blakeney) allow the rider to choose a blade that compliments their size and riding style. SURFING!

When BIC Sport launched the first mass-produced surf boards at the beginning of the 90s, they opened the door to tens of thousands of new surfers by offering quality boards at reasonable prices.

To maintain the BIC Sport quality guarantee for its surf boards, top class board shapers are used to bring those boards to readiness for the mass market. The boards are then faithfully reproduced in their thousands using its special production tool/manufacturing facility, based in France and unique in the world. The thermoformed ACS and E-Comp boards are made in aluminium moulds, giving 100% accurate reproduction of the final shape for every single board rolling off our production line.

The 2013 BIC Surf collection is wide without being over-elaborate, and simple enough to meet the needs of riders of all skill levels : from the pro rider looking for high performance, reliablilty and light weight, to the beginner looking for stability, easy paddling and all-round strength.

The ACS boards are still super stable with, for example, the Hype range now incorporating a brand new tail pad design. As light weight and sturdy as ever, the E-Comp board series is enlarged this year with the introduction of a new beginner board, the 9’6, a fantastically versatile 4x4 longboard that is easy to ride and incredibly light under the feet for a board with such big volume.

Completely re-looked and re-newed in 2012, the Superfrog series keeps its place as BIC Surf’s top of the range brand, with its classy «clear epoxy» finish. A superb range of boards chosen by master shaper Gerard Dabbadie for all intermediate to expert level riders. 9’4’’ Nose Rider

A legendary longboard

Designed by the legendary shaper Darrell «Rooster» Dell, this 9’4’’ is the preferred longboard of many intermediate and experienced surfers who want a longboard that combines superb design, smooth wave entry and speed with exceptional manoeuvrability. Darrell’s 9’4’’ design is lightly concaved with conventional rocker through the nose, which then flows into a flattened area. From there it moves into a rolled V, pronounced under foot to provide easy rail to rail transitions. Managing to deftly combine the delicate combination of those two critical design factors ensures that the board is the ultimate in versatile surfing, with all the characteristics of regular construction with regard to weight and stiffness, and the sturdiness of E-Comp Technology.

BIC Sport’s E-Comp (Epoxy Composite) construction technique produces a board that is approximately 30% more durable while being almost identical with regard to stiffness and weight when compared to a similar polyester constructed surfboard. To accommodate the needs of more advanced surfers, E-Comp surfboards provide shapes that not only suit the intermediate surfer, but also experienced riders who know how to ride a surfboard.

Hydro Fish

Four Peter Hosking signature shapes make up this range that combines versatility with performance. From 6’0’’ to 7’0’’ (for each size of rider a board to suit !), the Hydro Fish are for riders looking for a board that’s shorter than a longboard or mini-mal, without dropping down to a shortboard. The Hydro Fish have enough volume for an easy take-off, good manoeuvrability and board speed. They’re fitted with FCS Thruster M5 fins, and come with two extra fin plugs for a quad configuration.

Longboard

The completely new Superfrog longboard series is a cocktail of traditional shapes and more modern ideas. They have all been shaped by Gérard Dabbadie. The 8’2’’ is a compact, versatile, high performance board that combines tradition and modern thinking, with its swallow tail and subtle wingers. In the same spirit, the 9’ has a more classic overall style combined with some more modern touches that give the board excellent glide and you an easy ride. The 9’2’’ sits squarely in the longboard tradition, its classic lines giving you a «pure longboard» ride including knee-drop turns and other noseriding moves.

Designed by top class shapers, they’re made with a new light weight Epoxy/fibreglass laminated polystyrene core. This technique differs from the more traditional polyester/fibreglass around a polyurethane core by being lighter and having vastly superior mechanical qualities, delivering a much better feel on the water.

A stringer gives the board good stiffness along its length, and the «Slick Skin» polyethylene skin gives excellent glide, cushioning bumps and offering impressive knock-resistance. Since the year 2000, excessive elitism has led to an ever-accelerating race towards newer, better models made almost without exception in factories in Asia. In the face of this trend, BIC Sport chose to go a somewhat different route, with a French-based production, the selection of models on offer and investment in the competition circuit.

Manufacturing base. BIC Sport is the only manufacturer producing windsurf boards in France, a situation that allows us to exploit an industrial system that is in itself high performance, but also unique in the world. It also enables us to respond quickly to new trends in some of the most important and biggest world markets.

2013 product range. Our individual designs are well defined and limited in number to help make it easier to choose the best board for you. The 2013 Windsurf range comprises 5 different clearly indentified models : • The Techno range is aimed at riders seeking a high performance freeride/funboard with quality fittings, responsive but also easy to ride. • More innovative is the Nova range, lighter weight boards incorporating a full integral deck pad. This is a design aimed at windsurf schools and at beginners who want a board that will help them learn the basics fast, but also help them progress rapidly.• The Core 293 D and 160 D, are designed to make windsurf and funboard as simple as possible for everyone. The two brand new SUP Wind designs provide a superb missing link between windsurfing and the brand new sport of SUP that has set the board sports market alight in the last couple of years. The 10’6 and 11’6 SUP WIND boards are super-versatile, enabling you to do both sports with just one board, on the flat or in small waves.

Competition scene. BIC Sport has also invested itself heavily in this important area. After winning several World Championship titles at the beginning of the 2000s, BIC Sport started looking increasingly at monotype racing as the way forward, and developed the Techno 293 One Design as a monotype board for junior international racers. Today, Techno 293 OD is THE most dynamic windsurf class in the world, with the recent World Championships attracting 350 young racers from 26 different countries spanning 5 continents. The T293 OD Class is also now working to develop a new T293 OD+ Class that will open up this competition to older riders, with the 8.5 rig and a 50 cm fin. With a new competition format focused on planing, this promises to be a great development for the future. A truly phenomenal windsurf class.

BIC Sport is the only windsurf manufacturer in Europe and the only one to have mastered composite material technology, thermoformed in aluminium moulds, a technology which guarantees the exact replica of the original shapes designed by the shaper and riders. Several techniques are used and the material is optimised according to the sailing programs.

This technology is relevant to the CTS and TS boards, which are boards made from a low-density polystyrene core, covered by a fibreglass coat with carbon fibre reinforcements. Resin is then applied to this fibre, and the whole mix undergoes a high-pressure thermoforming procedure in one single process. That gives optimum results from the materials, reducing weight and giving a performance equal to more expensive sandwich construction boards but with much better resistance to knocks than Epoxy Sandwich. • CTS : Stiffness, light weight and strength. Incorporates uni-directional carbon fibre reinforcements along the rails and under the footpad (Techno 293 One Design).• TS : Compromise weight/strength with glass fibre reinforcements at all the important points on the board (Techno / Core / Nova).

On the Beach boards, the outer skin is made out of polyethylene, the same as that used on BIC Sport kayaks with their proven strength. The internal construction is a high-density polyurethane foam with its massive knock-resistance properties. This technology means we can produce ultra-strong boards which suit perfectly the needs of windsurf schools, and that of individuals just getting started.

With decades of experience in windsurf and surfboard manufacturing BIC Sport is a pioneer of thermoformed composite construction technology. Over the past few years we’ve refined the ideal composite lay-up for SUP, with ACE-TEC as the result. These boards have been designed specifically for learning to windsurf and progress towards funboarding in the best of conditions. With their comfortable volume and wide deck area, these are great boards for making your first runs and starting to have fun from day 1. The Beach boards have been designed with sailing schools in mind, to offer them strong, practical and modern equipment. They are made using the technology already applied to BIC Sport kayaks and surfboards: the outer skin is in polyethylene, the same as that of BIC Sport kayaks, whose solidity is well-known, and the core of the boards is made of the same high-density polyurethane foam that is also inside the BIC ACS surfboards. Both Beach boards offer particularly good stability as well as being easy to handle, so that beginners can start to learn various moves. A new EVA foam pad, very hard-wearing, comfortable and anti-skid covers the deck. Both boards come with a retractable daggerboard that is solid and easy to handle.

THD - Tri Hull Design : designed for funThe unique THD shape provides the optimum in speed, comfort and stability for BIC Sport Kayaks. The result of 30 years of BIC Sport watercraft design and innovation, the THD shape has been developed to provide improved gliding and stability while maintaining maneuverability. Inspired from current tri-maran designs, the THD shape features a central section (1) for increased gliding, two outside hull sections (2) to stabilize the kayak and two intermediate concaves (3) to create lift and an optimal mix of water and air for heightened performance. Stable, designed to be simple and affordable, the BEACH series kayaks are the gateway kayaks for our Sit-On-Top range, the easiest way to get out and have fun on the water while you’re at the beach. They are made to BIC Sport’s usual high standards, and their deck and cockpit design make them easy to use and very well suited to family and group activities. The Trinidad and Kalao models can be fitted with a small motor.

Ouassou*

The fun kayakThe Ouassou is designed as a versatile and manoeuvrabile kayak ideal for beach fun. The stern handles let you hang on and swim and allow easy access on board. The Ouassou also handles surf and waves comfortably. The ‘spatula’ shaped hull is derived from surf longboards and rodeo kayaks. The slight keel and lateral rail design provide directional stability and excellent tracking. The Ouassou’s optional knee-strap system also allows you to secure your body to the cockpit when you are looking for greater control in waves or whitewater. In the 2013 version, the Ouassou has three inserts on its hull. These inserts are to enable a set of soft Thruster fins to be fitted, which will improve its performance in waves. This set of fins will be available as a separate accessory. Its compact form and light weight make this a kayak that is easy to manoeuver, transport and store.

Trinidad*

Duo compactThe Trinidad is a kayak purpose-built for leisure : compact, capable of taking two adults and a child on board, it’s highly versatile and stable making it suitable for all kinds of situations. For family outings, the ergonomic seats and stability are very reassuring for when you are far from the beach. And for serious paddling and exploring, solo or two-up, its very low-draught, hull design and wide rear storage area are really useful for getting where you want, wherever that is, for going further, faster. As a final bonus, the Trinidad can be fitted with a small electric motor to give it even more possibilities.

Kalao*

The family kayakThe Kalao is quite the 4x4 of the kayak world. Equally at ease on the sea, rivers or for fun, it really is the kayak for all adventures. Like all BIC Sport kayaks it features plenty of innovations. The fluid, stable hull design makes it simple for a family of two adults and two children to all ride together in complete comfort. That makes it the first true 3 (adult) person Sit-On-Top on the market, with 3 proper ergonomic seats. Essentially, the Kalao combines capacity of the old style family canoe, with the safety of a Sit-On-Top kayak! The other big first : it can be adapted to take an electric motor. The largely flat hull design with very little water draught is extremely stable and allows the kayak to go almost anywhere. Such aspects as storing your belongings while kayaking, as well as carrying and transporting your kayak have all also received detailed attention. One other important point : it’s unsinkable.

A great compromise Slightly longer than the 100, the Adventure 120 Sit-In is just as easy to paddle but with a bit of extra glide and great for paddling on lakes, rivers, lagoons and calm seas. Fast and stable, it’s aimed at kayakers looking for a great compromise between extra glide and inexcessive volume. The wide cockpit shape assures a hassle-free launch and land. Adjustable foot rests and the high quality «Ergoflex Seating» seat give excellent paddle comfort. The padded knee rests add an extra and very welcome touch. The large forward storage area, plus a rear platform with integral elastic straps mean you can really load up with equipment. A fast, stable kayak with top quality fittings.

Adventure 150

Sea kayaking for all The Adventure 150 is the logical next step after our SOTs, enabling one to move on to a more physical type of kayaking, without difficulty. Its glide and performance is much better than that of a Sit-On-Top and its little skeg at the stern give it good tracking. Its wide cockpit gives good leg protection and it can be fitted with a spray skirt. Wider than more sporty types of kayaks, it allows more freedom of movement and allows one to get on and off easily without the fear of staying stuck. On the Adventure 150, it is therefore easy to get back in after capsizing, after a swim or an under-water diving session. Stable, compact, fast, it has been designed with comfortable volume, and is equipped with large hatches for storage. With the Adventure 150 you can go off on a trip with enough equipment (up to 135 Kg max load) and track fast without necessarily having had lots of practice.

Folded down into its tough storage bag, it’s simple to transport either on foot or in the boot of your car. On the construction side, the same multi-material format as used on the YAKKAir HP (Polyurethane bladders + Dacron bladder sleeve, multi-tube bottom with a coated fabric outer skin) has been used. The rigid stiffeners at front and rear tips help to pre-form the hull, sharpening the cutting edge and further improving the already excellent glide. Good storage space has always been a feature of the Santiago Fishing, and for very good reason, comprising a dry storage, a storage locker, plus a wide rear platform that enables you to load all the gear you need for all your fishing trips. Not forgetting the three rod rests, of which one is pivoting for maximum freedom of movement.

Trinidad Compact but wide, the Trinidad Fishing is the kayak for double paddling. It’s a highly stable boat, designed for solo or two-person fishing trips. Java New for 2013, the Java Fishing gives you above all an outstanding compromise between glide and stability. The hull is made of thermo-formed polyethylene, which is both affordable and durable. The O’pen BIC is also produced in the spirit of sustainable development: low-energy consumption during the production process and all production waste is recycled. The hull is 100% recyclable, very durable in the long-term and requires minimum maintenance and upkeep. In 2007 BIC Sport was awarded the French Sailing Industry’s «Prix du Bateau Bleu» for the ecological concept behind the O’pen BIC.

The hull of the O’pen BIC was designed with fun sailing as the priority. It is a modern boat where the hull is as open as possible, thereby leaving the helmsman completely free to move around and trim the boat to any wind and water conditions. When hiking, the large sides allow the sailor to set-up comfortably with his/her feet in the straps without placing any unnecessary stress on the body. The totally open and sloping cockpit means that there is absolutely no water in the boat either during sailing or just after a capsize. A relatively hard chine design was chosen for the bottom shape of the hull. Used by numerous modern boat architects, this design offers an excellent compromise between performance and stability. When reaching or broad-reaching, the boat accelerates quickly to planing speed. When close-reaching, the boat sets on its chine and has excellent performance up wind. The hull includes integrated carry handles for easy launching into the water and easy transport.

The rig includes a fully-battened, 4.5m² mono-film sail with mast pocket, similar to that of a windsurf sail. Rigged on an epoxy mast, the sail has been designed with an open leech to give sailors maximum control and performance in windy conditions. The Cunningham tackle (6 threads + cleat) associated with the boom vang / boom safety attachment, allows sailors to trim efficiently the tension of the sail. The aim of the International O’pen BIC Class is to provide an exciting format of international and national dinghy sailing for young sailors. The steady annual growth of the Events’ Calendar is proof that the Class’s formula of providing exciting race formats on an attractive boat is a great success. At present there are over 10 countries that have regular event calendars of national competitions, and the international World O’pen Cup is the pinnacle each year. The O’pen Cup event style is very original, with some highly innovative courses and race rules derived from funboarding, where races are short and quick, the course changes regularly and can include crosswind legs and freestyle moves or an adventure race, and protests are judged immediately out on the water so no racing time or effort is wasted! These improvements are in line with ISAF’s Introductory Rules of Sailing, and are quite a break from the last 40 years of «classic» sailing. Exceptional stabilityTheir catamaran hull gives them much more stability than all flat or V hulls. This is a major advantage for hunting, fishing or the transport of equipment to an anchored boat. The Sportyak 245 can comfortably accommodate three people who can, if necessary, change sides without any risk of capsizing.

The safety of the double hullThe double hull gives added safety to passengers. Even if a very violent impact made a hole on the outside hull, the inner hull would provide sufficient flotation to get back to shore.

The toughness of polyethyleneThe Sportyak 213 and the Sportyak 245 are made of polyethylene which makes them virtually indestructible. You don’t have to worry about leaving them in dinghy racks or on the beach. UV rays, salt and every day impacts have no effect on them. When no longer in use, these boats are entirely recyclable.

Light weightThe Sportyak 213 and the Sportyak 245 are light which is an essential characteristic for a boat that is most of the time carried by hand and loaded onto roof racks. It is thanks to their double hull structure that even though they are very light, there has been no compromise on safety aspects.

Easily carriedThe Sportyak 213 and the Sportyak 245 are particularly easy to carry. Several carry-handles have been positioned around the Sportyak 245 to facilitate its beach-launching and handling. The Sportyak 213 can be fitted with a roller kit. The Sportyak 245 is fitted with wide rollers integrated into the design of the hull which do not affect in any way the boat’s performance on water, whether it is being rowed or powered by an outboard engine.

Comparison Sportyak 245 versus V-hull

As soon as the weight is off-centre a V-Hull becomes unstable and

dangerous, unlike the double catamaran shape hull of the Sportyak 245, which provides high stability and therefore

prevents capsizing. Test done with two adults on the same side.
