Welcome to Royal Windsor!Ian Studd, BAR President

Welcome to one and all to our 2012 Annual Conference

here in the beautiful town of Royal Windsor. This picturesquetown is a wonderfully historic location with many popularattractions, including its link with our Royal heritage. TheBeaumont Estate has rst class facilities making it the perfectlocation to host our agship event.

The theme for the conference is A New Focus, aimed atconcentrating our attentions on the future opportunities that exist for our Association

and its Members, and putting behind us the unprecedented events of the last 18months.

We have an excellent programme of business sessions that involve knowledgeable, entertaining and thought provoking speakers, and undoubtedly they will help tomake the whole package even more interactive and enjoyable for you all. Onthe agenda, we have retained by popular demand the question and answersession, to enable Members to table any questions you may have to the Board ofDirectors directly, this session will include a debate on the proposed new criteria formembership of the Association.

We are also delighted to be able to reintroduce the much missed vehicle exhibition

at this years event, which will include a drive by and competition sponsored byVolvo Trucks, so please set aside the time in your schedule to attend what promisesto be a terric procession. There is some great entertainment planned for theevenings of the conference, including a visit to Thorpe Park for our party night out, toexperience the thrill of some of the most extreme roller coasters ever built and alsoto taking part in some of our best loved game show formats such as Catchphrase,A Question of Sport & Countdown. I am sure we will all have an enjoyable andmemorable evening.

I would like to thank all of our speakers who generously give up their valuable time

for our benet and a huge thank you to our exhibitors and sponsors whose continuedsupport is such an important part of our conference. I encourage you all to spendtime visiting them on their respective stands.

I extend a warm welcome to all of our International Associates and Europeancolleagues and I wish the nalists in the DMotY and CMotY competitions the bestof luck. Finally, I personally very much look forward to catching up again with old

friends and to making many new ones.
