Students’ Union Update

A huge shout-out to the many students who took the time to dress up for Halloween! Lots of

costumes and some great fun was had by all. November is Canadian History Month at ESBCHS! We

started the month off with a Canadian history trivia game in the atrium and teachers & students

learned a few things about our great country. Pizza Day will be November 19th ($3/slice or $5 for 2

slices). Students have a chance to participate in the Healthy Active School Symposium on November

24th in Stony Plain - see Mrs. Severson or Ms. Watson ASAP for more details. This is a great

opportunity to connect with other school leadership groups in the Edmonton area. Only a short few

weeks until the Christmas break, so be sure to check out all the great upcoming Bandit events.

December will be Gift Giving month and we are hoping to coordinate with the other student groups

to celebrate our students and the holidays.

Cosmetology The Cosmetology lab is offering customer services yet again this year. Call the school to book an

appointment for haircuts, colours, foils, manicures and facials. We also have excellent deals on

professional hair care products and tools.

The Cosmetology students along with the Students’ Union are in the planning stages of some exciting

events. We will be hosting a fashion show with formal gowns, hairstyles and makeup this semester. If

you are interested in being a model, contact Ms. Watson or Mrs. Locskai for more details. We are

also offering makeovers (hair and makeup) and a photo for a reasonable price. If you are interested

or want to book an appointment for this, stop by the COS lab or call 780-929-6282.

Library News The ESBCHS Library is a busy place this time of year. Essays and projects are well under way and the

library is a major tool for our students. We have lots of new books and are taking requests from

students and staff on a daily basis. Our policy is to try to acquire any books that

are suggested as long as they are appropriate for our library. Whether you are

doing a research paper or just need a good book for your down time, we should

have a book that fits your needs. Don’t be shy, come on by!

Grad Banquet Committee The first Grad Banquet meeting will be on Wednesday, November 25th at 7:00 pm in the ESBCHS staff

room. At this introductory meeting Grad Banquet planning will begin, committee

member rolls and responsibilities will be reviewed and volunteer needs will be

discussed. This committee is completely parent run with one ESBCHS staff member

advisor. We would like to see as many parents attend as possible as many hands

make light work. The Grad Banquet will be on Friday, June 24th at the Edmonton

Expo Center.

ESBCHS proudly presents this year's musical theater production of The Boy Friend on November 18 –

21, 2015 at the Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts. The Boy Friend is set in the French Riviera in

the 1920’s. An heiress’s quest to land a boyfriend is the heart of this jazz-inspired spoof. Filled to the

brim with tongue-in-cheek moments, both parents and grandparents will love The Boy Friend with it's

catchy score and complex dance numbers. The Jazz Age lives on in The Boy Friend, written in the fifties

as “a new musical of the twenties”.

Bandit SportsDesk High School Volleyball and

Football are now finished for

the season. Thanks to Mr Lepps

(Football), Irene Gerlinsky (Sr

Girls Vball), Mackenzie Uskiw

(Jr Girls Vball), and Vern

Gerhardt (Sr Boys Vball) for

their efforts this season. All

volleyball teams advanced to

playoffs but lost in the first

round.

Grade 9 Volleyball teams end

their season Nov 19 at Clear

Vista with the Premier league

playoffs. Thanks to Leslie

Da i gneau l t and J an i ce

Gaudette leading the girls and

Aaron Heinemann coaching

the boys.

High School basketball begins

in December with our Sr Boys

and Girls playing Div 2 in the

E d m o n t o n M e t r o

League. Suzanne Kavanagh and

her girls have tournaments

locally and in Calgary. John

Tschritter has his boys team

are hosting our Bandits

Invitational in January as well as a trip out

to Cape Breton in February.

Grade 9 Basketball tryouts will begin near

the end of November. Please watch for

announcements. We also need a Grade 9

girls basketball coach. Please contact

Chris Peacocke or Scott McIntyre if

interested.

Philip Oh Volleyball Tournament WOW! What a tournament!! Our Senior Girls Team won the Girl’s Championship event! This is the first

time in the tournament’s history that a Beaumont team has won. The girls’ desire and team play allowed them

to rise to the occasion; they beat Ponoka girls in the semi-finals and then again in the final match at the end of

the day on Saturday. Our boys team also had a great tournament with so many close games that could have

gone either way; they missed the championship round in a 3-way tie-breaker - only 1% separating them from

the team that moved on. Congratulations to both teams! It was great volleyball. A huge thank you goes to all

of our scorekeepers and volunteers who were a big part of making this tournament a success. We would also

like to extend our condolences to Mrs. Oh and her family as Mr. Oh passed away just prior to the

tournament. We will remember his dedication to youth and the many times he and his family have joined us to

encourage the teams participating in our tournament.
