Congratulations Drumline for placing 4th in your class at the Plano Drumline Competition!!! Only the top 5 in the class receive awards and there were 15 Drumlines in our class. Please congratulate the Drumline and Ms. Garza for their hard work and great performance!! Our contest season is off to a great start!!

ATSSB All-Region Jazz Ensemble Results On Tuesday September 18, several jazz band members competed in the ATSSB Region 5/30 All-Region Jazz Band Auditions. We are pleased to announce that Springtown placed 7 students in the 20 member band and have 8 students qualified to record for Area. Springtown had the most students make the band out of the schools competing. Congratulations to Mr. McPhetrige and the following students:

Grades, Parade and Homecoming, Oh my! Hopefully everyone has dried out after Friday’s deluge! Here’s hoping this week cooperates a little better weather wise. Thank you for hanging in there during this unusually wet start to the marching band season.

This week marks the final week of the first six-weeks grading period. It is also Homecoming week which provides a significant amount of distractions. Please do everything you need to do to insure that you are passing ALL of your classes by the end of the day on this Friday! We need all students passing to be successful this season. I will visit with any students who are in danger of failing on Monday so that we can have a plan to help you through this week. Study for those Six-weeks Tests!!! If you become ineligible, you will not be able to participate in pep-rallies, games or contests for a minimum of three weeks starting on Friday, October 5th and continuing through Friday, October 26 which means you will not only miss the Princeton and Springtown Contests, but you will miss Region contest which is our qualifier for Area and State contests. However, you still have to attend all rehearsals. You don’t want to miss out!!!

Students will need to wear the following:Grey undershirt, Band Shorts, Baseball Cap, Black Socks and Marching Band Shoes

Tuesday, September 25

Due to Monday’s Homecoming Parade, we will have our “Monday Night Rehearsal” on TUESDAY. Rehearsal time will be the normal, 6:00 - 8:30 pm. Rehearsal will take place at the Band Hall. This week is important as we try to finish putting our show on the field for Homecoming.

Tuesday is also Area Jazz Recording for those students who qualified at the Region auditions. Springtown students will record at the times listed below. If you record during our rehearsal, you may leave 15 minutes prior to recording time. Please return as soon as you finish.Recording will take place in the Black-Box.

Show shirt, grey undershirt, band shorts, long black socks, marching shoes and baseball cap. Homecoming Mums can only be pinned to the strap of your bibs. DO NOT pin them to your uniform coat. Mums can be worn after we get into the stands after our pre-game performance.

POPCORN FUNDRAISER

We still have a few boxes of Popcorn if anyone wants to earn additional money for their account. See Mr. McLellan if you would like another box. If you have not turned in all of the money from your box (es), please do so this week. Thank you!!

Band Dad’s Needed

Due to the amount of equipment we will be hauling and moving on and off the field this year, we could use some more dad’s to join our Band Dad group. If you are interested in helping this great bunch of students, please contact John Little, Head Band Dad at: (817) 694-1515.

Please be aware of 2 calendar changes

Tuesday, September 25 - Band Rehearsal from 6:00 -8:30 pm @ SHS. This is due to the Homecoming Parade on Monday, Sept. 24.

Friday, October 5 - Band Rehearsal from 4:00 - 5:30 pm at SHS. There is no game this week and we will need to have a final

rehearsal before the Princeton Contest on Oct. 6. There will be no sectionals or Friday morning rehearsal to accommodate the extra time.

September statements were emailed last week. If you haven’t received a statement, it is because we do not have a working email in Charms. You can check your balance at any
