RASS ERFORMANCE LASS
Do you get nervous when playing a solo piece in concerts?
Are you unsure of etiquette when performing?
Would you like to get better at Performing your pieces?
Are you preparing for the Trotman competition?
Last year’s Brass Performance Classes proved very popular with the
participants so we are repeating the success this year. If you are preparing for
an exam, recital or simply want to improve your performance skills, this is for
you. The classes are very relaxed; participants play a piece of their own
choice to an audience of peers and receive feedback from a member of
staff during the class.
There will be a pianist, so bring your piano
part.
This experience is free of charge and if you
would like to take up this offer, please
confirm you are coming by Wednesday 28
November via email to
This class is open for players of Grade 6-8
standard. It will focus on general aspects
of performance technique as well as on
how to improve your confidence when
performing.
3 Training Band & Senior Band
Welcome from the Principal
A very warm welcome to you all to today’s concert as part of
Bromley Youth Music Trust’s end of term season of
performances for Autumn 2018. This term has already seen a
plethora of new activities and events, in addition to our high
quality wind band, orchestral and choral programmes; we
have set new standards in the world of music theatre, we have
an ever expanding jazz programme and Rock School BYMT is
going from strength to strength. Please do look at our
website www.bymt.co.uk, particularly under events, to see
what we offer and most importantly come and join us either as
a player, singer or member of the audience. We thank the performers for their hard work
and commitment and know that they will give of their best today. We also thank you for
your continued support of the work we do at Bromley Youth Music Trust.
At the time of writing this introduction, I would like to take the opportunity to comment
on the breathtaking performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,
a real tour de force from all of the cast, crew and teachers that made it possible. Words
fail me in describing just how good this was; the standing ovations said it all.
We once again thank Bromley Council for their continued support of BYMT via lease of
our premises on Southborough Lane and to the DfE for their funding, delivered via Arts
Council England. I would also like to pay particular thanks to the Rotary Clubs of Bromley
and local businesses who help us to deliver on our motto “Music Changes Lives”. We
strive to be even more inclusive and change even more lives. To take part in musical
activities is a hugely influential part of a child’s education, development and general
well being. I very much hope that in enjoying today’s performance it is abundantly clear
that your children are receiving an opportunity here that is unique and that the time
spent with BYMT is invaluable, unsurpassed and indeed life changing. Please make sure
that you take every opportunity to shout loudly about the importance of BYMT being
able to continue its work, to tell your friends, your local councillors and of course please
come to as many of our events as you can manage. Parents of younger children are
warmly invited to bring their families to performances by our more senior groups, which
will show what can be achieved by progressing through BYMT. For further details on the
range of ensembles, concerts and master-classes that we put on, please visit our
website www.bymt.co.uk
I would like to thank our Trustees for the enormous amount of work they put in behind the
scenes to assist the strategic progression of BYMT and our Patrons for their invaluable
financial support. Finally, I would like to finish my welcome by thanking the outstanding
group of teachers and musical directors who make concerts like this possible. Their work
nurtures the talent of the children and young people and in turn enables the children
and young people to reach standards beyond their expectations.
