Market Summary ReportOctober 2014

Dear Customer,In order to briefly summarise the current main trends in the commodities markets we have outlinedsome of the key “movers and shakers”. We are able to provide you with additional detail about any ofthese upon request through our Sales, Telesales or Purchasing Depts.

Soft Commodities – Sugar Prices increased +5% as global production continues to be greater thandemand. Cocoa Powders have also increased up 4% as have Cocoa Butter, + 1%.

Fats and Oils – Soyabean oil prices continued to fall in Rotterdam by 2% as good weather during thegrowing period supported expectations of a record US Crop. Palm Kernel Oil Prices were down 20%following the fall in palm oil prices. Rapeseed oil prices fell in Rotterdam 1% due to the prospect of arecord EU crop. Sunflower Oil prices fell in Rotterdam 9%.

Wheat – Global wheat prices have been mixed due to good global supplies, but differing quality depending on the region. Milling wheat prices rose 2% in the US but fell 14% in Paris and the UK.

Dairy – EU milk production continues to outperform year on year but has now entered the seasonalproduction deadline. The ban on imports of EU food, imposed by Russia is having an impact on Butter,Cheese and Milk Powders. EU egg shell prices fell 3% and processed egg prices in the EU were variedbut stable.

Ingredients – Turkish dried apricots were slightly down by 2% but remain at a relatively high level.Peanut prices rose by 3%. Turkish raisins were down 10% while sultana prices rose 1%. US raisinsdropped by 1%. Desiccated coconut from the Philippines rose 2% but remained unchanged in Indonesia.The spice market saw increases for both black and white pepper with EU prices for Vietnamese blackpepper up 12% and white pepper from Indonesia and Malaysia up 6%.

Energy – Prices for Brent crude oil fell in London by 3% due to more stable production increasing.Prices for Petrol fell in Europe fell by 4% and Diesel by 2%.
