VIDEO GAME VOTERS NETWORK The Video Game Voters Network is the grassroots community for ESA, comprised of over 1.3 million gamers. We defend video games from intrusive legislation and unjust attacks against gamers in the media.

Every year, ESA produces its Essential Gamer Facts, a report aimed at providing insight into who plays video games, how they play and what they play.

YOUR CHALLENGE: INCLUSIVENESS AND DIVERSITY AMONG VIDEO GAME PLAYERSMany people who don’t play video games don’t understand who video game players are in 2017. Stereotypes of antisocial teenage boys in basements are off-base, yet this perception continues to be the prevailing image that is thought of by those who don’t play games. In reality, gamers are over 40 percent female, the average gamer is 35 years old and in the United States, there is an average of 1.7 individuals who play video games in each household, according to the ESA essential facts about the computer and video game industry. Video games are an essential part of US culture across demographics and it’s time to change these dated stereotypes. Your challenge: to create a game that educates the community about the qualities of video game players and shifts the perception of what it means to play games.
