Why are tho cars of the Oahu ItIt line nntcloaned and fumigatedon the Lydecker plant There issurely as much dust and as manybaccilli on that lino as there is onPains horseless cars
It has been suggested that theclothes in the laundries should befumigated before being returned totho owner If done under propersupervision and by a process whichwill not be injurious to the clotheswe see no reason why the suggestionshould not be adopted Wo areasked to be careful with the vegeta ¬

If it should please Mr McKinleyto appoint Mr S M Ballou FederalJudge for the Hawaiian Territoryon the push of Alabama Morganthe Republican party will have lostits last foothold in Hawaii MrBallou may be able to day to run aBelf styled Citizens Committee buthe couldnt secure five votes if hewas ever running for an office hereeven the office was that of a poundmaster
It is easy enough for a few menclothed with brief authority to con-

were taken from the Nuuanublocks makai of Hotel street andsent to the Kalihi detention campto remain there while their homesare being placed in what the Boardof Health calls a sanitary couditionWe thiuk it was a very bad policyon behalf of the authorities to seleatthe great Chinese holiday for thopurpose of removiug these poor peo-
ple¬
The women were crying thepoor little children were bewilderedand suared and the men wore angryVice CoiiBul Goo Kim was there andtried his beet to allay the fear of thewomen aud the anger of the menThe intention was to march thesepeople who all belong to tho re ¬
spectable shop keeping olass to therailroad depot but finally they werepermitted to ubo hacks paying theirown fare There hasnt been a sin ¬
gle case in the blocks from whiohthese people were taken and thereare certainly numerous buildings inHonolulu in a worse sanitary couditiou than those in those blocks Itseems to us that there is an inclina ¬
tion on the part of the authoritiesto rub it in on the OhiueBO TheChinese have a great amount of
