FOOTY RECORD. - 2000

Farrer League~ Editorial

The culmination of a truly remarkable Mercantile Mutual Farrer Football League will take place today as we witness the final two games of the season to see who will be the Champion teams for the Year 2000. Right from the first bounce in Round One on April B we have been on an exhilarating roller coaster ride which has produced some tremendous games of football in a year of competrtion which will be remembered for the evenness amongst the eight competing clubs. The make-up of the final five was in the balance right up until the finish of the home & away section and to say the finals have been close and exciting is an understatement. Congratulations to all the Clubs on producing an entertainment extravaganza throughout the entire season and best of luck to the competing netball and football teams today.

The Annual Farrer League Vote Count and Presentation Night held at the Rules Club on Tuesday August 23 was once again a huge success. Congratulations to all the trophy winners• the Best & Fairest in both grades was certainly as exciting and as close as some of the footy games. Well done to Kane Johnstone who won the Gerald Clear Medal by one vote and also received the Lance Seamen award for the best player in the Representative side. Peter Johnson and David Harris were joint winners in Reserve Grade and Matt Carroll and Craig Byrnes were awarded the goal-kicking trophies. The Farrer Princess candidates were all sensational congratulations to Suzanne Fairman - Sydney Swan Leo Barry was great and the night went off without a hitch - well done to all concerned.

Marrar produced another tremendous effort last week in the Preliminary Final at Collingullie to earn the right to challenge The Rock Yerong Creek for the Premiership Cup. Cootamundra were worthy opponents and played some great team footy to dispose of Ariah Park Mirrool and North Wagga AMF in earlier finals. The game was keenly contested from the first bounce the Blues were away to a dream start with the aid of a stiff breeze. Marrar worked their way into the match in the second quarter as the pressure mounted and both teams found it hard to kick goals. The close, hard footy continued into the second half as the Blues desperately tried to

build a winning lead with the aid of the breeze. A two point advantage did not seem enough at the start of the final quarter and when Steve Carroll began to take towering marks and kick important goals the Blues run had come to an end. The Marrar Bombers made it a double celebration when they led all game and defeated a tired Ariah Park Mirrool outfit in Reserve grade to claim a spot in the premiership decider.

GRAND FINAL PREVIEW

The Grand Final should be an absolute thriller as the Magpies and the Bombers fight it out for the ultimate prize. The Rock Yerong Creek wi ll be fresh and confident after a relatively easy finals series so far. They have secured a spot in the decider compliments of some brilliant football and will f ield their strongest possible team. Coach Steve Woods no doubt has them primed for a huge effort and the side boasts a depth of classy players. Matt Carroll up forward will be a headache for the Marrar defence as will Graham Fellows. Mark O'Leary, Leroy Brown and Steve Thompson are brilliant on-ballers and Woodsy will marshal the defence to produce another committed performance. The Marrar Bombers will go into the game as 'under dogs· and after a hard road to grand final it will be a major test of their stamina. Coach Steve Carroll played a brilliant game last week and if he can rise to the occasion again the Bombers will lift. Rick Pritchett, Wayne Podmore and Paul Kew are all trump cards for the Bombers and the mere fact that they are all playing in the big one will no doubt lift the Bomber brigade.

The Reserve Grade game features sides from the same clubs and similar circumstances. The Magpies are the minor premiers and favourites while the Bombers have had to battle hard to qualify for the chance of winning the flag

Anything can happen · and as both teams line up for that all-important finale at 2.35pm -I'm sure we will witness a tremendous contest between two worthy participants - good luck to all the competing football and netball teams today.

I "U...U.,i ~ ~ , ) With I &ot4" Me,k & m, # Merk enjoyed a tremendous night at the

RFL Vote Count and Presentation Night at the Narrandera Ex-Services Club on Tuesday nighl. He sat on the Umpires table - the ones who decided the medal winners In the various grades. If only they could 'umpire' like they 'party' • we would have nothing to complain about!II Merk reckons tt he had have known he would be perched on the pedestal with the 'whistle blowers' he would have brought his seeing eye dog "Sniffa" and a r~le ~k with him!! Fair dinkum - they have trouble picking up a fork that'll own deciding on best players!!! Seriously though - desp~e what we might think and say about them at times they strive to do their best and presentation nights would not happen without their inputlll A good night was enjoyed by allll

# The "Kick For Cash" is defiMely a goerll The competition will run at the half-time interval on Grand Final day in both the Farrer and Riverine Leal;lue. T~e Kick for Cash is open to anyone who fancies their chances of kicking the Shorrin into a 44 gallon drum from 40 metres. To enter all you have to do is fill in an official entry form from the 'Footy Record' or the Dally Advertiser Grand Final Supplement and place it in the barrel at either ground by halftime In the reserve grade game on GF day. The prize will be $500 for the first person to kick tt in the can. If the prize is not won at the Farrer Grand Final on Saturday September 9th it will jackpot to $1000 al the Riverlna League Grand Final on Sunday September 17th.

# The "Best Dressed Supporter" at the Farrer League Grand Final will be rewarded with prize of $25 cash or a gift voucher at the "Burgers on Kincaid" eat up joint!! Merk reckons the winner should take the cash - cos for $25 bucks at the 'eat up shop' you'd be lucky to score a cold pie an_d a bottle of m ineral "."aterlll The Farrer League Princess Susanne Fairman will be on hand to select the winner and also help present the premiership medallions.

# One astute team sponsor has cenc1inly got good value for money this year - as two teams Ute firm are associated with are Into the grand finals m both the RFL and FFL. Croaker Grain are associated with both Coolamon and Marrar • Merk reckons they must be slipping some fancy food supplement into the team's tucker to build them up a notch. Merk reckons he might have to sneak out to Horse's "stables" at Marrar and see what he can sniff outll . # Congratulations to all teams participating in the Farrer League Grand Finals today. The Rock Yerong Creek and Marrar have proved they are the best teams after a tremendous season of football which culminated in great finals matches wh~re the two clubs ~~rned the right to play in the decider. The competition was fierce all year and all the clubs, coaches, players netballers and

administrators are to be congratulated on the success of the League. Thankyou to the Club Scribes for their efforts during the season and thankyou to the businesses who advertised in the Footy Record.

# Tile has been a bit out of sorts since about 5pm last Saturdee and Merk took a while to fathom it out. The Dee's had played one game too many for the year and Tile was distraught to see them capitulate in the grand finale to that other team. Tile reckons if they had played the G F on the last Saturdee in August the result would have been different!! Anyway Tile was a bit despondent and Merk even caught him filling out an application to ~ach. St Kilda - needless to say Merk got stuck into him and finally talked some sense into him. Fair dinkum you'd have to be desperate to even think about applying for anything at the tri-colour camp • except for maybe an Interstate clearance 7 a one way ticket out of the joint!II Come to think of it • it would almost be as bad as sitting in the Collywobble coach's box w ith ' Malteeser" on game day II!

# Merk's eyes nearly popped out at the Farrer Presentation Night when he spied WM seated at one of the official tables - it seem s that nothing is sacred and the Rules Club no doubt litera lly shook to the foundations as WM sidled through the entrance. Beats me how he got past the doorman • probably wore that blonde wig and high heels again. Any way Merk was smart enough to capture the moment on film and will forward a photo to both the A RL and NRL for analysis and comment. Surely the head honchos of the "Biff & B.ash" briga~e will summon LJM to explain h1mselfll The Judge nearly hung Lawsy - imagine what's in store for WM - excommunicat ion Merk reckons!!! Perhaps he has finally seen the light!! Merk can't wait for further developments!!!

The Rock-Yerong Creek players to watch

No 18. Leroy Brown is a fearless centreman with great determination and skill. Has the ability to lift the team with his aggressive attack on the ball. Represented the League again this year as captain and be an interg ral part of the Magpie push for a premiership.

No 12. Graham Fellows has played some outstanding football for The RockYerong Creek over many seasons. Plays mainly at centre half forward where his aerial skills and goalkicking ability have proven the difference in many Magpie victories. Also named in the Millennium Team this year.

No 2. Matthew Carro ll has been in tremendous form for the Magpies and is one of the major reasons the team is contesting the grand final. He kicked a total of 109 goals for the home & away part of the season. Look for his lightening fast leads.strong marking skills and precise kicking style at goal as he attempts to help post a winning score for the Magpies. Matt is assistant coach and will definately be a headache for the marrar defence.

No 9 . Magpie Man Mountain Mark O'Leary has been in scintillating form this year capping off some remarkable performances with a decisive win in the Club Best & Fairest award. He is a very mobile big man and if he can fire up today and win the majority of ruckduels around the ground - creating opportunities for the smaller running players - it will help the Magpies in their quest for a flag. Al 33 Mark is in lhe twilighl of an outstanding career which has seen him named in the Magpie Team of the Millennium during season 2000.

He has enjoyed a brilliant career with the Bombers and will play an Important part in their quest for a flag today. He is accustomed to play any where and has been used recently as a key defender as well as having a run on the ball. Sure to give 100% and look for a big game.

N o 13. Brenda n Se rgeant is a key defender who has had a consistent year with the Bombers. He is a hard, no nonsense stopper who can create attacking moves from the defensive area. He has excellent skills and if he turns it on today he could have an big influence on the result.

THE ROCK-YEAONG CREEK

President's Message It has been a great season for our club,

culminating in both teams participating in today's Grand Final.

I would like to firstly thank the coaches, Steven Woods , Rod Merrils and John Mclachlan for the work they have done in getting their respective sides to the last game of the year.

Secondly, thank you to the committee who have worked tirelessly throughout the year and also the Ladies Auxiliary for their continued, valued support. To the players, whose efforts throughout the season have earned them a place in today's Grand Final, I would like to wish you all the best on behalf of the Committee and the Supporters of The Rock-Yerong Creek

Magpies' Club Notes Today brings the certain down on another

footy season, To sum up - so far it has been pretty successful - but success is measured in Premierships and not in home and away victories. Both sides have been given that chance today and the chance is there to create Club history - a double premiership.

We have got a tremendous listing of Major Sponsors and without there support we would not be able to participate as strongly as we do. To The Kings Own Hotel, The Home Tavern, Peter L. Brown & Associates, The Rock Memorial Bowling C lub, Henderson's Hydraulics and Welding, Rodney's Transport Services and Grainco Ltd - we are indeed greatly appreciative of your contributions. To all subsidiary sponsors and Super Magpie Members we thank you for your support.

To the coaches - Woodsy and Matty - in first Grade - Macca and Rocket - in the reserve Grade - you have all done a magnificent job and and definitely all deserve the ultimate.

Just a reminder about the Presentation Ball. It is on Friday 22nd September. at the Kings Own. The sit down meal will be served at 7:30 followed by presentations. Mark Haze will provide the entertainment. Cost is $25 per head and Super Magpie members are reminded that they are gra1us.

I suppose that there will be a couple of retirements after today and we can only hope that those in this boat will receive the best possible farewell.

By now everyone should be aware of the format for the rest of the weekend. If you are not ask someone who does know. There have fliers around detailing all events.

Enough talking - now its down to actions. It has taken a lot of work and sacrifices to get where we are today. As someone asked me during the week - What do the pies and Nelson Mandella in common? They are both black and whit and both champions.

We are all fully aware of what is required and what will be the result with the correct input. Don't let slip what we have all worked so have for and really so rightly deserve.

UP THE HOT PIES.

President's Message I would like, first of all, to take this opportunity

to thank all of our hard workers that helped to get us here and also to congratulate Stephen and Paul on being able to get both grades into the Grand Final, great job boys.

It is important to remember that this is what all the hard work has been for and the prize on offer at the end of today is a dual premiership and i can't think of a group more deserving of this trophy than the; Players, Members and supporters of the Marrar Football Club.

This year has been a great year for all clubs in the Farrer League and really you could say that any single club in the league would not be out of place in todays fixture. Our league, I believe, in the epitome of bush football and this is what it's all about.little towns with big hearts who like nothing more than cheering their boys on on a Saturday afternoon.

To the players who wear our proud Guernsey today, there is only one day to really have a dip and play-that's Grand Final Day, so give it everything you've got because there's no next week

Bombers' Club Notes Well here we are, Grand Final Day. This is

what it's all about. Two hard fought wins last week sees both Firsts and Seconds playing off for the big one.

Seconds got the day off on a winning note with a solid win against a determined Ariah Park outfit. In what was a good all round effort notable mention must be made of the performances of Buckets, Damien McKelvie and Clint Taylor, as well as Normo's and Patio's goal kicking prowess. The boys have made a fair charge for the premiership but realis~ that they must now lift for the big one.

First Grade finally overcame their hoodoo team Cootamundra, with an inspired performance from coach Tek who recaptured his sparkling e_arly season form, he was ably assisted by another twenty players on the field with other big games from Juicy, Paddy, Geoff Smith, Rick Pritchett and Crazy. This sets up another blockbuster with The Rock where hopefully we can play four quarters to win the one that counts.

On the netball scene our C Graders finally dipped out but true to the fighting spirit they have shown all season they weren't beaten until the final siren sounded. Hopefully our netballers can look towards a prosperous season 2001 .

To the social side of things, players and their families are reminded that our Banquet night will be held on 22nd September at Marrar. This is always a great night so all are urged to pencil this night in.

Today brings our two teams up against The Rock for what is always a fascinating encounter. Both teams have had to do it the hard way to get here but it all means very little if we can't go on with it. Can we do it? lime will tell. But one thing is for sure, we are in for the afternoon of a life time finding out. Let's give Normo and his choir something to sing about. Could it be the year of the Bombers??

RIVERINA UMPIRES ASSOCIATION '!Rg.port' This week sees the culmination of the Farrer

Football League, with the Grand Final being played between TRYC and Marrar at Robertson Oval (yes Robertson Oval) on Saturday. Congratulations to the following umpires on their appointment to the Senior and Reserve Grand Finals:

Seniors: Duncan Potts, lim Beard, Brett Webb, Craig Rogers (emerg)

Reserves: Craig Heathcote and Darryl Richardson

From the President and Coaching staff, well done on your appointment. Go out and enjoy the day.

Congratulations also go to the Boundary and Goal Umpires who will be officiating in both grades on the weekend. All the appointed umpires have deserved their selection based on excellent performances throughout the year and during the final series. Duncan Potts is in his first year with the RUA and has to be congratulated on achieving a Grand Final appointment. A very experience umpire.

The Preliminary Final in the RFL is being played at Narrandera on Sunday and congratulations to Seniors: Andrew Crook, Craig Rogers and Scott Crowley Reserves: Robert Anderson and Gary George U1 8: Peter Ross and David Farrelly.

Don't forget that this month is after game drinks at the Rules Club, one of our major sponsors. The Presentation night is on 29 Sep and the end of season trip happens on the weekend 28-29 October.

UMPIRE PROFILE This weeks Umpire Profile is: Peter Ross Peter started umpiring with the RUA in 1998.

In his younger days Peter ran the boundary

which he enjoyed, he gave it away for a while then followed one of his sons back into umpiring but this time as a Field Umpire. His first senior FFL game was in July 99 at Rivcoll and his first senior RFL game was with me at GGGM in Aug 99. Peter is one of our senior umpires and has been ready to help younger umpires out in junior games throughout the season. Peterls ultimate goal is to do a GF and the goal he has set himself next year is to umpire in more senior games and reach the 100 game milestone. He is a keen supporter of the Hawthorn Football Club and if he would have known Chris Langford was speaking at the RFL Medal Count on Tuesday night, he would have given his right leg to be there. He is married and one of his boys has been an umpire with the RUA and Adam is still with us and making his mark in the junior league. Peter has been a very consistent umpire during the year.

Good Luck to all umpires running this weekend. Hope the weather is fine, Until next week.

pounced like a panther on the ground and flew and floated like a flamingo in the air. The back six were virtually impenitrable led by lim Hilton who once again proved that getting the better of him one on one is as difficult as swimming the English Channel with no arms or legs and a cramping left ear.

11 was great to see Jarrod Skidmore regain his very best form, Matty Hard provided sparkle and polish and Greg McKelvie his usual ball handling wizardy. Clearly the dominant player on the ground, however, was the human collossus Wayne Weidemann who was as explosive as Mr Methane on a baked bean, prune and egg diet.

Unfortunately, the Seconds put a dampner on an otherwise dream weekend playing their worst game fo r the year. Through circumstances beyond our control, they didn't have the spectator support and perhaps this contributed to the defeat. Michael Goss continued his recent hot streak igniting like a petrol soaked Guy Fawkes, while Matt (Doogie) Cameron picked up more touches than a shapely bum in a mosh pit. Pat Edwards finished off his first season for the club in vintage style with another performance as eye catching as Pamela Anderson in a see through tank top. A huge thank you as well to Stewie Winrow and Zane Fraser of the Ganmain club whose sportsmanship in offering our Seconds their assistance was most appreciated.

As great a day as it was for Weed's Warriors, it was as well for the netballers. The A's made it through to their first ever decider joining the C's who will be looking to go one better than last year. The Boppers and Juniors play this week for their chance to join them.

There was no single player who stood out in the A Graders glorious win such was the evenness of the performance. Racquel (The Fazz) Farrell was as tireless as Forrest Gump but her mighty efforts couldn't prevent the Boppers' narrow defeat. The C's were simply delicious led by Meredeth Furner who bubbled like the chilled champagne the girls will drink after one more victory. The Juniors as well gave themselves every chance of defeating their title with the awesome Jess Nolte as potent as a predatory pterodactyl.

The gloss on a dazzling season wsa applied at the League Vote Count last week. Kristin McKelvie Ouniors), Kylie Parr (C grade) and Alex Moses (B grade) were all B & F winners and there several other big vote catches as well. All the netballers deserve congratulations on what has been a stellar season.

This weekend we also have two junior teams - the U 12s and 16s who will be striving to become Coolamon's first premiership teams for the new millennium. We wish them every success at North Wagga Oval this Sunday.

Editorial

Three teams remain in the quest for premiership honours in the Mercantile Mutual Riverina Football League after another very interesting weekend of finals football.

Wagga's Robertson Oval was the venue for the Second Semifinals on Sunday where the minor premiers all tasted defeat in the three grades, as the opposing teams - Turvey Park (18's), Wagga Tigers (2nds) and Coolamon (1 sts) all marched into the Grand final with convincing wins. The Coolamon Hoppers adapted to the conditions well and thumped the Wagga Tigers in one of their best displays of disciplined football of the season. The game was in the balance at halftime but after the long break the Hoppers produced a sustained burst of brilliant team play which left the Tigers floundering and catapulted the hoppers into the Grand final. Coach Wayne Weidemann was the instigator from the mid-field and with Lew Roberts and Brendan McKetvie on fire up forward there was no stopping the Hoppers. The Reserve grade was also somewhat onesided. The Griffith Swans were the form side going into the finals but were never in the hunt against the Wagga Tigers who dominated the game from the first bounce and were untroubled to win as they liked. The Under 18 match was the closest of the day and Turvey Park deservedly won by 21 points. The Bulldogs played the better football and with perhaps their strongest team of the year they answered any challenge in the heavy conditions to be the first team into the grand final.

The Narrandera Sportsground was in excellent condition for the all important First Semifinals also staged on the Sunday. After an even start in the main game the Ganmain Grong Grong Matong Lions went on the prowl and knocked the Leeton/Whitton Crows out of the finals with an 8 goal win. With on ballers Chris Kelly and Nathan Irvine causing havoc and creating scoring opportunities for big Scott Hamblin - the Lions were unstoppable and the Crows had no answers. In Reserve grade the Turvey Park Bulldogs bounced back to form and ended the Coolamon Hoppers season with a five goal win. The Under 18's was a one-sided affair with the Leeton/Whitton Crows producing their best effort of the year to finish the Griffith Swans season compliments of an eleven goal thrashing. The Swans had shown glimpses of

brilliance in the latter part of the year and the Crows two previous finals were questionable but they put it altogether at the right time to sound a warning to the other finalists.

Congratulations to Phil Rowston from the Griffith Swans who won the Quinn Medal as the Best & Fairest player in the League. The latter stages of the count was certainly close with anyone of a dozen players capable of taking the award. The decision of Temora's Ross Devereux to play reserve grade all year certainly payed dividends when he was awarded the Gaynor Medal as the Best & Fairest in that division. The Lou Brown medal for the Under 18's was also close with Wagga Tiger's Josh McKenzie taking the award from last year's winner Rod Shaw and team mate Josh Parmenter. Wagga Tiger entrant Justine Quilty was a popular winner in the Miss RFL quest - Congratulations to all the trophy winners - it was a great night!

Preliminary Final Preview Another desperation day at the Narrandera

Sportsground today as the winning teams will qualify to play for the premiership and the losers are finished for the season. The Wagga Tigers and the Ganmain Grong Grong Matong Lions clash and what a game it promises to be. The Tigers were disappointing against the Hoppers and the Lions bounced back to form with a resounding win over the Crows. The Lions obviously revelled in the conditions of the spacious Narrandera ground and have the running players to pressure the opposition again. The Tigers have been the bench mark all year but will have to improve and produce a top class effort if they are to have another crack at the Hoppers. In the Reserve grade the Turvey Park Bulldogs and the Griffith Swans will square off in another interesting game. The Swans are under the pump and cannot afford another lapse against the Bulldogs who are seasoned finalists who certainly know how to win the big games. In the Under 18's another gripping battle looms as the Leeton/Whitton Crows play the Wagga Tigers. The Crows will no doubt be further strengthened by players back from the seniors and the Tigers will need to improve significantly on last week to be any show of playing on grand final day

Leeton-Whitton Club Notes Well it's certainly been a long few days since

the senior side capitulated on Sunday afternoon at Narrandera, and all that can really be said is thank God the speeches didn't go for any longer than 3 h ours at the Quinn Medal, and be thankful our U18's continued to show great resolve in their quest for premiership g lory.

The thirds put up a fantastic performance against last years premiers, bouncing back in the best possible way to record a convincing 68 point victory to set up a showdown with the Tigers today. Although leading all day, the boys responded well to a Swans challenge late in the third term, banging home 7 majors to one in the last stanza. Best for the Crows were Ross Taylor who kicked 7 goals, ably assisted by skills of Toby Conroy, Matthew Flagg. Frank Lannelli and Brad Lynch. Get well wishes to Kane Bullock.

The seniors came out with all guns blazing to jump to a 24 point lead, however the bright start proved to be just a tease for the massive crowd on hand. The team soon made to look slow and tired by a running Lions outfit. Best were Jamie Broadbent, Matt Sharman, Simon Piltz, Darren Atkinson and Matt Robertson.

Our last netball team was knocked out of contention also on Sunday, as our Junior went down by 5 goals. Congratulations on a great season on a great season girls.

Turvey Park Club Notes

Congratulations to U12's who join in the 1 O's, 14's & 16's in the grand final at North Wagga today. Best of luck to all the boys and their coaches, lets hope we are celebrating back to The Rules Club tonight at your Presentation Night with 4 Premiership.

Last Saturday our U18's started the day with a great win over the Tigers their first this year. There is only one to go now for that elusive premiership. We know you have the team and the talent to win.

Our 2nds went to Narrandera with the determination to win and recorded a terrific win over Coolamon. Well done boys, this week its the minor premiers and a win is a must to have another crack at the Tigers on Grand Final day.

Our netballers had a mixed day with A & C Grades not performing to their usual standard and now have to play Griffith and Tigers today to have another chance. Our little juniors won by 8 goals against the minor premiers Narrandera in a great team effort. B Grade are also through to the Grand Final after winning by 5. Well done to all of the girls.

Don't forget to pick up your tickets for our Presentation Night by the 16/9/00. $25 per head, a three course meal and a great band for the night. The 1990 Premiership team will be there to share the night with us,. Tickets from Loraine or Prue. UP THE BULLDOGS.

Congratulat ions to our Seconds - they are already booked into the grand f inal at Narrandera courtesy of a commanding win against Griffith last week. The boys never looked in danger and played four quaters of focussed footy. Best players were Jordan Simpson, Greg Dea, Andrew Dwyer, David Schultz and Dean Neil.

Unfortunately the U18s and the Firsts were unable to follow the same path, but they have another chance today to join Gerald's troops on the 17th.

A pretty spirited game in the 18's with the boys going down in an entertaining match against Turvey Park by 21 points - not a lot in the game - today is the opportunity to put at all together in four solid quarters.

The Firsts, well it certainly was a fair hiding with Coolamon giving us no quarter at all! We did look dangerous on occasions but unfortunately that was short lived. We have another chance today to rectify our efforts - so let's get out there and have a red hot go!

Well done to the C Grade Netball - they have made it through to next weeks Grand Final as well. .. let's make sure we get behind both footy teams and the girls today and show them some spirited tiger support!

Congratulations to Karen Oke (Neil) - Club B&F in B Grade, and also Runner Up in the league B Grade B & F.

GANMAIN-GRONG GRONG-MATONG , ... , () N s An improved performance to have a good

win over the Leeton Whitton Crows, but there is still room for a lot of improvement with a lot of wasted opportunities. Chris Kelly with a top game in the ruck, won the Sports Club Award, Brandon Ryan the Webbers Bakery Towel, whilst Nathan Irvine won the Wagga First Aid Mug and Christen McPherson took out the Wagga Mutual Credit Union Award. Miltons Gear voting was 3 Chris Kelly, 2 Brandon Ryan and 1 Nathan Irvine.

Netball news - C Grade fought valiantly against Tigers on Sunday, but unfortunately couldn't secure the win. The girls were slow to start allowing Tigers to run away with an early seven goal lead. Whilst they got within two goals of Wagga in the final term, they were unable to overcome the final hurdle. Congrats to all players on their determination and spirit.

B Grade also went down on the weekend, with Griffith keeping their unbeaten record against the Lions intact. The girls went out strong in the first quarter to be equal with the Swans at the break, but Griffith were just too strong in the second half of the match. Congrats on a great season.

A big thanks to all those who have supported the GGGM Netball Club throughout the season. We've had a great year and are looking forward to even bigger and better things next season.
