It was a good day out at the Ariah Park Show yesterday and it was great to see so many of our students involved. A huge thank you to the students who volunteered their time to help make the show a great day for everyone. The show display in the pavillion was excellent and I received many comments about the great work our students are doing. A big thank you to Ms Gash for setting up a great display. The Sheep Dog Trial was massive this year and we finished the last dog just before dark. Thank you again to the Barking Dog Team for running the event for the day. It was great to receive an email last night from a community member recognising two of our students who stepped up on the day to help without any notice. Well done to Josie Heath and Lucy Edis who made the day easier in the luncheon pavilion by clearing and setting up tables for new customers. The pace won't slow down this week and today we are hosting a regional SRC gathering. A number of schools are attending from the area and it is great for our aspiring leaders to interact with others. They will also take a look around our school and see what we have to offer. The P&C will meet again this Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in the Library. It will be good to see you there. This week we will be discussing the draft student leadership policy and how we can further develop our young leaders. We appreciate all perspectives. Yr 9/10 Rotary Debating Last Tuesday, Ariah Park competed in the second round of the Rotary Debating Competition, competing against St Anne’s in Temora. Kindra Byquar, Rafferty Edis and Jack Kenworthy represented Ariah Park, ably assisted by Jack Speirs from Year 8. In a very apt debate on the topic "That We Should Ban Mobile Phones In Schools", with each team coincidentally representing the current position of their own school, Ariah Park narrowly lost as the negative team. This means that St Anne’s School has won the overall shield for this year and we congratulate them on their win. Thank you also all parents for their support with debating this season. Mrs Drumore APCS Secondary Debating Co-ordinator Yr 7/8 Rotary Debating The second and final round of the Yr 7/8 Rotary Debating Competition was held last Tuesday evening at St Anne's School, Temora. Fortunately, we were able to field a team this time! Brooke Denyer, Sinead Rogers, Jack Speirs and Deklan Ross demonstrated that they benefitted from the intense debating they had completed recently in the Year 7/8 Premier's Debating Competition by winning against St Anne’s with the Negative side for the topic "That Competitive Sport Should Be Compulsory In Schools." The Yr 7/8 Debating Trophy will be awarded to Ariah Park this year. Well done, team! Thank you also all parents for their

These workshops allowed students to speak with people in the industry and learn about many occupations they could do in the future in Agriculture (see collage). Mrs Tidd

Mrs Cox Year 1/2 Home Reading Year 1/2 are no longer reading their home readers during the morning at school. Students are welcome to change their readers at school. When they change the readers, reading logs will be checked. Ms Studholme's class will be changing their readers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Mrs Cox's class will be changing their readers as needed. Please continue home reading at home. Thank you to our parent volunteers who have helped out this year. If you would still like to listen to students read, Kindergarten will still be reading Monday-Thursday. Mrs Cox & Ms Studholme Year 5/6 Geography Assignment Students in Year 5/6 need to complete Part 1 of their geography assignment by the end of the term. They will be given opportunity to do the assignment at school but can also do some at home. An outline of the assignment has been given out to students last week. Mrs Jenkins

Wolsan Elementary School- South Korea Students in Year 5/6 will be taking part in three video conferences with students from the Wolsan Elementary School in South Korea. The first video conference will be in Week 10. Mrs Jenkins Year 5/6 Debating The Year 5/6 debating team won their final debate on Monday 3rd September. They debated against Beelbangera Primary School via video conferencing. The topic for the debate was, “That All Students Should Do 30 Minutes Of Exercise Each Day at School.” Our team had some great points and spoke very well. We had eight students in Year 6 that had a go in at least one of the four debates this year, which is really encouraging and I’m sure over the next few years we will have the same enthusiasm. Mrs Jenkins
