Things that I noticed:• It is evident that all the attackers have masks on to conceal

their identity.• Settings are often isolated and far away from society. • Realistic blood to convey that the film is going to be

gory/scary. • Victims seemed to be trapped and cornered in one area,

which connotes that they have no escape.

Halloween 1978 (Slasher)I watched the trailer and a few clips from “Halloween”.

Things that I noticed:• The killer typically is an outcast to society. • Stereotypically there is a big confrontation

between the protagonist and antagonist.• The victims are isolated in a small area (house),

meaning that they are trapped. • Women seen as vulnerable and fragile.

Things that I noticed:• Many weapons such as guns, rocket launchers, etc.• The monster causes mass destruction to the

environment.• Humans team up to fight against the big monster.

The Wolfman(Werewolf)I watched the trailer and some clips from “The Wolfman”

Things that I noticed:• Weapons such as guns are used, this shows that

this film is going to be violent. • The werewolf man is an outcast to society and

is being hunted down. • The werewolf would disguise his identity and

hide from society.

This screenshot shows that weapons such as guns are used in this film, this connotes that the film is going to be about violence.

This screenshot shows that the werewolf man is disguising as a normal human being in order to hide from society.

This screenshot shows that once caught he starts getting tortured which explains why the wolf man is running away from society and is hiding.

Things that I noticed:• Focuses on more of the children, which makes

the audience feel sympathetic towards them. • Assistance is needed therefore they call

professionals to try and help.• The monster is typically hidden and sneaks up

behind others without showing itself which helps bring up tension.

the children and that the victims are children.

This screenshot shows that they have called for help to try and sort out the problem.

This screenshot shows that the monster doesn’t really show itself and instead plays around and moves things about such as this clown toy.

Buried (Phobia and Isolation)I watched the trailer and clips from “Buried”

Things I noticed: • No real setting, just focused on one

place, emphasising the fact of isolation.

• Only focused on one person throughout the whole trailer, the male protagonist, showing he is alone and has no help, which creates tension.

• Mise en scene such as blood, help reinforce that he is in trouble and needs help.

• It’s a race against time, therefore they show the watch constantly.

This screenshot shows that the main male protagonist has blood on him, showing that he is in danger.

This screenshot shows that the male protagonist is all alone by himself and needs help and leaves the audience with the enigmatic of if he will be able to suvive.

Things I noticed: • The theme of running away is very evident, they do

this in order to survive and leaves an enigmatic to the audience if they will survive or not.

• The main male protagonist has a costume that looks like he just came out of hospital.

• The streets are abandoned as no one is on the streets.

Screenshots from “28 days later”This screenshot shows that the protagonist is wearing a hospital gown, and looks like he just came out of a hospital.

This screenshot shows that the streets are abandoned, this also leaves an enigmatic for the audience as they want to know to know why there are no people on the streets.

This screenshot shows that many people are running away from something which leaves the audience wondering what are they running from and why. This creates tension.
