u PRIMER ON PENCIL SKETCHING Lessons on using combinations of soft and sharp strokes, lines and curves to create form and structure. Students will begin to learn how to create freehand sketches, with an understanding of shape, depth, perspective, composition and texture. BASICS OF SHADING TECHNIQUES Lessons on how to depict light and shadow with the help of varied tones and values to create an illusion of 3D space on paper. Students will begin with simple geometric objects and progress to drawing more complex subjects. These lessons are opportunities to learn different kinds of shading techniques like blending, cross-hatching, smudging etc. and to master refined pencil control. FURTHER PRACTISE WITH MONOCHROME SUBJECTS Sessions for students to gain further skill and experience in drawing pencil sketches by applying the techniques mastered in the previous classes. Students will explore the elements and entourage of still life, landscapes and everyday scenes and will be introduced to more advanced skill sets needed to capture the lighting effects on metal, glass, water etc. There will also be guided lessons on drawing people, animals and a basic introduction to portraits. Materials required: a large size art book, eraser, sharpener, drawing pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B and charcoal pencil)
