Three steering modes are selectable atthe operator’s console. When in the Paveor Travel mode, steering range iselectrically reduced to minimize abruptsteering movements. SuspensionUndercarriage consists of four 241 mm(9.5") diameter track rollers, a specialrear, four roller (152 mm (6") diameterbogey, and two (152 mm (6") diametersingle roller return idlers per side.Rollers are bogied in pairs and each pairis articulated for optimum levelingcapability. Rollers ride on Caterpillar D3track rail. Track rails are sealed type andhave a split master link for quick trackremoval and installation. Tracks arefitted with 127 mm (5") by 356 mm(14") rubber bonded track pads.

Track tensioning is provided by aparallel link swing arm design thatprovides constant hydraulic pressure.Track tension is maintained withoutmanual adjustment. Recoil forces arecontrolled by check and relief valves.

Feeders and AugersDual feeders and augers are controlledindependently through variable speeddrives. A material feed controllerprovides ratio control of augers andfeeders. Paddle sensors control thefeeders/augers to provide the exactvolume of material required. Ratioadjustment eliminates the need for feedergates. The system allows feeders to runfull at lower speeds. Reduced componentwear, lower horsepower required andless opportunity for segregation can beexpected.

Right and left feeder/auger operateindependently of each other. Feederdrive and drive chains are locatedoutside the mainframe for easyaccessibility. Manual override systemsare available for each feeder controlvalve.

Feeder flights are constructed of heavy-duty bushed roller chain with forgedsteel flight bars sliding over replaceable,abrasion resistant drag pans with 360-440 Brinell hardness.

Long life auger system consists ofsegmented, 406 mm (16") diameter, castNi-Hard steel hemi-screw augers. Augerand hanger bearings have built-in steelshields for greater protection.Bearing lube points are remote mountedfor accessibility.

Hydraulic Oil FiltrationPropel pumps have 10-micron integralcharge loop filtration and 7 micronreservoir return filtration. The materialfeed system (feeders/augers) has 5-micron integral charge loop filtration.Vibrator pump has 100-mesh suctionstrainer on the inlet. The auxiliary pumphas a 100-mesh suction strainer on theinlet.

Extend-A-Mat B Screed OptionsAutomatic Burner System thermostatically controls the screed plateheating system, helping maintain a consistent temperature. Acontroller functions as the brain of the system and monitors screedplate temperature, regulates diesel fuel flow to the burners andprovides diagnostic capability. The option is available for screedswith 457 mm (18").

Power Controls for Slope, Crown and Height include electricmotor-driven gearboxes that provide fingertip operation of mainscreed crown, extender slope and extender height adjustments.Bevel End Plates provide the ability to make a 45 degree joint. Theend plates bevel the mat edges for 38 mm (1.5"), 51 mm (2"), 64mm (2.5") and 76 mm (3") pavement thickness.Cutoff Shoe Package allows the paving width of a screed to bereduced. The Cutoff Shoes are available in either 305 mm (12") or610 mm (24") lengths. With either length, the shoes can be variedin 76 mm (3") increments.Berm Extensions allow the screed to place an asphalt curb. BermExtensions are available in right or left configurations. Lengthsinclude 357 mm (14"), 508 mm (20") and 660 mm (26"). The curbrise is adjustable from 0 to 127 mm (5") high. Wiring harnessesfor extender control boxes are supplied. This option is availablefor screeds with standard 406 mm (16") wide plates.Wide Plates enhance screed flotation for specific mix designs thatrequire a lower ground contact pressure. Plates are 660 mm (26")wide. Screed Extensions increase paving width. Extensions are availablein 305 mm (1') and 711 mm (2' 4") widths. Heat is by convectionfrom the main screed. Vibration is provided on the 711 mm (2' 4")extension. Mounting is with cam bolts to assure accuratealignment.Paving Packages increase the maximum paving width to matchthe paving capability of the tractor. These packages contain all thecomponents necessary to achieve the desired paving width and caninclude: screed extensions, auger extensions, auger supports,mainframe extensions and mainframe braces. AS2301 Screed OptionsPower Height allows each extender to match the mat thicknessbeing placed by the main screed with switches in the main screedcontrol consoles. The switches actuate electrical motors thatchange extender height.Power Crown allows the center of the main screed to have crownapplied to it with a switch in the right main screed control console.The switch actuates an electrical motor that adjusts the crown.Thickness Control Screw Configurations are available toaccommodate operator preferences. The screed can be equippedwith one of four thickness control screw thread configurationsconsisting of clockwise standard thread, counterclockwisestandard thread, clockwise Acme thread or counterclockwiseAcme thread.Screed Extensions increase paving width. Extensions are availablein 305 mm (12") and 610 mm (24") widths. Heat is by convectionfrom the main screed.Cutoff Shoe Package allows the paving width of a screed to bereduced. The Cutoff Shoes are available in either 305 mm (12") or610 mm (24") lengths. With either length, the shoes can be variedin 76 mm (3") increments.
