• No animal shall wear clothes.

• No animal shall sleep in a bed.

• No animal shall drink alcohol.

• No animal shall kill any other animal.

• All animals are equal.

• Old Major’s commandments represent equality between all the animals. As they work together to form a well-structured farm, all the animals do their share of work in order to earn their rations. Which they complete without humans help.

• Napoleon’s commandments symbolize the similarities of the control of the humans and the control of the pigs over the animals lives. The animals had no freedom when the humans were in charge of the farm and it is no different now with the pigs in charge.

• As Napoleon gains more on the farm, the commandments begin to change little by little. The animals know that things are changing, but are so conditioned to follow Napoleons rule that they do not rebel against the changes. Changes that are made allow Napoleon to take advantage of the animals dedication to the policies of animalism.
