AT  A  GLANCE    eDiscovery  Newsletter  &  AmerenOnline  announcements    Work:  The  eDiscovery  Newsletter  is  the  quarterly  electronic  newsletter  that  Ameren’s  Diversity  Department  produces  to  provide  updates  about  each  of  the  Employee  Resource  Groups,  upcoming  events,  community  outreach  and  employee  columns/stories.  AmerenOnline  is  the  company’s  internal  weekly  updates  of  happenings  around  the  company.  Below  are  collections  of  sample  articles  that  Jordan  constructed  to  be  contributed  to  the  newsletter  and  AmerenOnline.            PCAA  and  the  Missouri  Youth  Leadership  Forum  On  Wednesday,  July  23,  Ameren's  Employee  Resource  Group,  Powering  Connections  for  All  Abilities  (PCAA),  participated  in  the  Missouri  Youth  Leadership  Forum.        The  Missouri  Youth  Leadership  Forum  is  a  unique  career  leadership-‐training  program  for  high  school  students  with  disabilities.  Youth  delegates  are  selected  from  their  local  communities  to  cultivate  leadership,  citizenship  and  social  skills  at  this  four-‐day  summer  program.  Two  goals  of  the  leadership  forum  are  to  develop  leadership  skills  to  ensure  youth  leaders  will  realize  their  full  potential,  and  to  promote  inclusion  of  people  with  disabilities  in  all  aspects  of  society.    For  the  third  consecutive  year,  an  employment  program,  administered  by  PCAA's  Mentoring  Subcommittee,  Jennifer  Krsul,  recruiter,  Amanda  Tesdall,  paralegal,  and  Peggy  Tedder,  diversity  specialist  provided  delegates  with  the  skills,  abilities,  and  knowledge  needed  to  succeed  in  post  education  and  the  workforce.    Human  Resources,  Chris  Marchioro,  Director  HR  Services,  Amy  Findley,  Senior  HR  Client  Consultant,  and  Vince  Gehrin,  senior  HR  client  consultant,  partnered  and  presented  with  PCAA  to  engage  and  to  empower  delegates  by  discovering  career  opportunities  and  cultivating  their  individual  interests  through  a  supportive  learning  environment.    Jordan  Williams,  Diversity  Intern,  captured  the  day's  event  as  photographer  and  journalist.      This  year's  program  focused  on  disclosure,  accommodations,  and  effective  communication  as  demonstrated  in  fictional  skits.  Ameren's  involvement  with  the  forum  concluded  with  an  interactive  group  discussion  that  included  social  media's  impact  on  applying  for  a  position,  professionalism  in  the  workplace,  and  knowledge  of  essential  job  functions  for  different  positions.

Diversity  Day  2014:  How  Big  Is  Your  Circle?    "The  biggest  problem  in  the  world  today  is  that  we  draw  the  circle  of  our  family  too  small.  We  need  to  draw  it  larger  every  day,"  says  Mother  Teresa.      This  year’s  Diversity  Day  theme  was  “How  Big  Is  Your  Circle?”  That  was  the  question  that  we  asked  co-‐workers  to  consider  as  Ameren  kicked  off  its  2014  Corporate  Diversity  Day  at  the  St.  Louis  General  Office  Building,  July  15.  See  who  co-‐workers  said  is  in  their  circles!    The  10th  annual  corporate-‐wide  celebration  of  diversity  gave  employees  the  opportunity  to  focus  on  what  we  have  done,  is  doing,  and  will  do  to  enlarge  our  circles  to  be  more  inclusive  of  others.  In  order  to  achieve  this,  co-‐workers  are  still  encouraged  to  submit  one  picture  with  a  caption  illustrating  a  growing  circle.  Examples  of  submissions  can  be  found  on  the  Diversity  Day  site.  Please  encourage  other  employees  to  participate  in  this  activity  as  well!      The  10th  annual  celebration  on  July  15  was  filled  with  a  day  of  activities  and  entertainment.  A  Native  American  Indian  performance  occurred  at  the  corporate  entrance  in  the  morning  as  volunteers  greeted  co-‐workers  with  information  about  the  day's  festivities.  During  the  Diversity  Day  Welcome  in  the  atrium,  Ameren  received  a  St.  Louis  County  Proclamation  from  County  Executive,  Charlie  Dooley.      Performances  included  the  Ameren  Children's  Recital  and  the  Soulard  Blues  Band.  There  was  also  an  informational  and  resource  fair  in  the  main  auditorium  about  Ameren's  Employee  Resource  Groups  (ERGs)  and  their  community  partners.      Thank  you  to  everyone  who  continues  to  grow  their  circles  and  support  efforts  in  Diversity   Diversity  Leadership  Summit  2014  On  July  17,  Ameren's  Corporate  Diversity  Council  hosted  the  first  ever  Diversity  Leadership  Summit.  The  event  was  at  Washington  University's  Knight  Hall  and  brought  together  over  two  hundred  Ameren  co-‐workers  and  external  Diversity  leaders  in  the  community.      The  purpose  of  the  leadership  summit  was  to  deepening  the  understanding  of  the  business  case  for  diversity,  diversity's  defined  role  in  Ameren's  culture,  values  and  strategy  execution  and  how  to  lead  diversity  efforts  from  any  role  within  the  organization.      The  day  began  with  Sharon  Harvey  Davis,  VP  and  Chief  Diversity  Officer,  welcoming  attendees  and  explaining  that  diversity  of  thought  needs  to  be  embedded  in  the  way  that  we  do  business  so  that  it  may  develop  innovation  and  creativity,  which  is  ultimately  necessary  for  continuous  improvement.      Liz  Lahm,  Senior  Director,  Business  Risk  Management  &  Corporate  Performance,  presented  the  attendees  with  a  video  detailing  the  continuous  journey  of  Diversity  within  Ameren.  Warner  Baxter,  President  and  CEO  then  shared  his  thoughts  on  why  diversity  is  so  important  at  Ameren  and  the  role  he  sees  co-‐workers  having  within  the  company,  community  and  within  the  industry.

The  morning  continued  with  a  lively  presentation  by  diversity  expert,  Frans  Johannson,  CEO,  Medici  Group.  Frans'  energetic  keynote  address  focused  on  how  to  use  diversity  of  thought,  backgrounds,  culture  and  disciplines  to  innovate,  create  and  make  ground-‐breaking  change.      Following  lunch,  Caryn  Fine,  Director  and  Assistant  General  Counsel  presented  the  afternoon  meeting  starter  video  about  first  impressions  and  how  unconscious  filters  can  derail  the  opportunity  to  achieve  success  through  innovation  and  creativity.      This  transitioned  to  a  presentation  focusing  on  MicroMessages  we  send  because  we  are  unaware  of  our  unconscious  bias  by  Stephen  Young,  Founder  and  Senior  Partner,  Insight  Education  Systems.  Stephen's  address  helped  attendees  identify  and  overcome  subtle,  subconscious  messages  we  all  send  that  can  discourage  and  impair  performance  in  a  diverse  workplace,  and  provided  tools  and  insights  to  help  anticipate,  recognize,  and  respond  to  triggers  beyond  our  normal  awareness.    The  afternoon  continued  with  a  performance  from  Diversity  Theatre  with  fictional  skits  that  focused  on  diversity  related  issues  in  the  workplace.  Following  the  performance,  Marty  Lyons,  EVP  and  Chief  Financial  Officer  shared  VPQ  scores  and  linked  the  scores  to  business  results.  He  requested  attendee’s  help  in  creating  an  environment  that  fosters  diversity,  innovation,  and  continuous  improvement.      The  event  closed  with  Sharon  thanking  everyone  for  attending  and  participating,  and  closing  with  an  instant  video  and  was  followed  by  a  networking  reception.       Submit a picture to celebrate Diversity Day How big is your circle? That is the question co-workers should consider as Ameren kicks off its 2014 Corporate Diversity Day at the St. Louis General Office Building, July 15. This 10th annual corporate-wide celebration of diversity gives employees the opportunity to focus on what we have done, are doing, and will do to enlarge our circles to be more inclusive of others. Co-workers are encouraged to submit one picture with a caption to Jordan Williams illustrating a growing circle. Examples of submissions can be found on the Diversity Day  site. Visit the SharePoint for the Diversity Day celebrations scheduled throughout Ameren.
