Allan Octavian Hume was born in 6 june 1829.He was a civil servant in British India. He was son of Joseph Hume. His father was a politician. He was educated at East India Company College, Haileybury. He studied medicine and surgery from university college hospital. It was only 9 years after his entry to India when he faced indian rebellion of 1857.

He worked alot for education. He took up the cause of education and founded scholerships for higher education. His great contribution to India was creation of Indian national congress. It was only because of him that Indians were successful to create a political organization in India. This political party results in the form of independence of Indians in 1947.

He was very outspoken and never feared to criticize the Govt.He was dismissed from his position because of his loyality to India. He published a book named “Agriculture reforms in india” in which he highlights the major crises of agriculture.

He was interested in science. He thought to made a documentary on all the birds of sub-continent.He made a big collection of birds but he donated them to meausium because his manuscripts were stolen and sold by a servant as waste papers.

He died at the age of 83 on 31 july 1912.He was buried in Brookwood Cemetery.

Here a question arises that why he was very much loyal to India as he was son of a British politician. According to some historians he was loyal to India because he passed more then half of his age in India. Some other asserts that it was all plan of British Govt.He was only a puppet.According to me, he was an honest person. He was dismissed
