A message from the Principal
With Week 11 nearly over we come to the end of a very long, hot and busy term. We are all
ready for a relaxing break and time with family and friends. The school term ends on Friday, 12
April. Students return for Term 2 on Tuesday 30 April. Thanks to everyone for your understanding
and support of the changes we have made in relation to school security and managing the flow
of people into the school at different times. Your cooperation and assistance has been
appreciated.
The staff has been reviewing our procedures in relation to managing serious incidents such as the
use of Epipens. We have consulted with parents/carers and will make further adjustments to
streamline our procedure. These will be communicated to all parents/carers early next term.
This week, interviews were held for the recruitment of a new Assistant Principal to replace Jess
Brooker. I am now waiting for Teacher Recruitment to conduct all necessary checks before the
successful applicant can be offered the position. I will have further information for you early next
term.
The results are finally in for our newly identified school values. These will be unveiled next term
with a small celebration to acknowledge the work and consultation that has occurred. The staff
will be defining the expected behaviours in relation to the newly identified values, at the staff
development day on the first day back of next term, Monday 29 April. These expected
behaviours will clearly identify the positive behaviours our whole school community will be
expected to demonstrate at school.
Thanks to all the parents/carers who were able to join us for the parent/teacher interviews last
week. If you still haven’t had a chance to catch the class teacher, please call the office to
make a mutually suitable time. Parents/carers are always encouraged to make a time to meet
with the class teachers to discuss ongoing progress throughout the year. Written reports will be
sent home next term with student-led conferencing in Term 3 as the major school initiated
reporting to parents.
Just a reminder that in our first week back at school, the Year 4 major excursion to Borambola
Sport and Recreation Centre, 1980 Sturt Highway (via Wagga Wagga) is happening from
Wednesday 1 May – Friday 3 May 2019. All medical forms should have been completed online
and permission notes should have been returned. If you require any further information regarding
what to pack and departure times, please see the class teachers. Any personal medication
required for the duration of the camp needs to be brought to Ms Singleton on the morning of the
camp, in the original packaging with the child’s name and dosage clearly labelled. Please also
complete the “medication administration” form and return to Ms Singleton on Wednesday
morning prior to leaving.
I look forward to a positive conclusion to our Term and leading into holidays. Wishing you a great
week and a safe holiday.

School News
We will be holding our ANZAC Day Service under the
Cola at school on Friday 12 April 2019 at 10.40am,
hosted by our student leaders. Parents/carers and
friends are most welcome to attend.
All students are also encouraged to participate in the
ANZAC Day March along Dean Street, Albury
(Thursday 25 April 2019). Albury Public School students
are asked to be in their formal winter uniform. We
have been instructed by the RSL Club to line up by
8.40am in Macauley Street on the north side of Dean
Street in alphabetical order by school, ready for the
march to commence at 9.00am. Primary schools are to follow along after the high schools. A
reminder that children wearing medals of family members are to wear them on the right breast.
Only a veteran may wear their medals over their heart on the left breast. The march will
conclude in Townsend Street where students will be dismissed. We look forward to your child’s
attendance if possible at this very significant community event. There will be several staff
members marching with the group.
Children will be asked to march close together, four (4) abreast, on the right side of Dean Street.
The march will conclude in Townsend Street where students will be dismissed. Albury Public
School will assemble outside Hogs Breath Café where parents and carers may collect their
children. We look forward to your child’s attendance if possible at this very significant
community event.

P&C News
With the AGM out of the way, and all of the executive roles filled, it is now safe to come to P&C
meetings without fear of being talked into taking on a position!
Our usual meeting date falls in the school holidays, but we have so much happening that we
have decided to hold an April Meeting on the 5th Tuesday (April 30th - first day back at
school). Please come and join us to get an inside look at what is going on behind the scenes at
APS. Lianne’s reports frequently answer questions and always provide insight into the workings of
a large successful public school. You may be involved in discussions on how we are planning to
benefit the school in spending fundraising money. The latest developments from out
environment committee are always exciting, with a large grant secured to improve the
grounds, and another in the application process, aiming to establish a pollinator garden. We
are working towards streamlining the meeting so that it is finished by 9pm, and if further
discussion is warranted, interested parties may move on to a nearby location. We would love
to see more faces, new and experienced equally welcome!
Hope to see you there!
Please don’t forget to support these wonderful businesses who’s generosity helped make out
Family Fun Fair so successful last year: ……(then post the list)
