NHS Fife is looking for a forward thinking individual to join our organisation and hope that this vital and rewarding role catches your imagination and that you are encouraged to apply.

You will lead on the delivery of an effective, responsive Infection Prevention & Control service, fully supported by our excellent Infection Control Team.

You will have proven leadership, people management and organisational skills to ensure a high standard of Infection Control service delivery, meeting all commitments for the HAI/HEI Infection Control agenda.

You will have significant infection control experience with a portfolio of evidence demonstrating knowledge in this specialised field, as well as experience of both project management and managing a team.

You will deputise for the HAI Executive Lead (NHS Fife Board Director of Nursing on Infection Control matters, as required.

You will have a relevant degree level qualification (or equivalent) together with evidence of on-going continuous professional development in Infection Control and experience of working at a senior management level.

Excellent communication skills including effective negotiation and influencing, with experience in presenting to a range of audiences are essential.

Working directly with the Head of Midwifery and Nursing you will be part of the Clinical Directorate Team with joint responsibility for leading and managing the implementation of the Best Start Programme recommendations. Future developments will also include closer working between hospital services and integrated Community Health and Social Care teams.

An exciting opportunity has arisen a for District Charge Nurse to join the community nursing teams within West Division to support the delivery of high quality care for a wide variety of patients and support the ongoing development of community nursing across Fife in line with local and National drivers.

You will have responsibility for the line management and clinical leadership of a District Nursing team providing nursing care to a defined patient caseload. You will have excellent time management skills and a flexible person centred approach as well as the ability to effectively prioritise workload thus enabling patients to remain as independent as possible in their own homes whilst having their care needs met. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to the ongoing development of an effective nursing team.

Community experience is essential and candidates must possess a Specialist Qualification in Community Nursing in the Home / District Nursing, District Nursing qualification. You must have the ability to travel independently across the locality area of work.

Experience of working within the community and lone working would be an advantage. It is essential that you have good interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and organisation and time management skills. You will provide assessment and treatment of mental health problems to patients in their own homes and clinics. You will be educated to degree level or poses equivalent relevant experience with evidence of continuous professional development and able to demonstrate an understanding of the impact of physical disorders on mental health. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and progressive Registered Mental Health Nurse to work within Radernie Low Secure Unit as Charge Nurse. Experience of working at an advanced level with patients and their carers in a variety of mental health settings is required.

You will be educated to degree level or poses equivalent relevant experience in Mental Health Nursing and be able to evidence continuous professional development.

The Charge Nurse will have excellent knowledge of completing comprehensive mental health assessments with this complex patient group. You will be a clinical expert and have experience and knowledge in delivering person centred nursing care. You should have knowledge of the Mental Health Strategy and be aware of the priorities for re-balancing care within Mental Health. Experience and knowledge of Forensic Mental Health care would be an advantage.

Although working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will make sound independent clinical and professional decisions on a daily basis.

As Charge Nurse working alongside the Senior Charge Nurse you will provide effective leadership, operational management and organisational development of Radernie Low Secure Unit within the wider forensic services. You will work closely with the Senior Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse and Multi-Disciplinary team to continuously develop services that are highly functioning, fit for purpose and provide an excellent standard of care.

It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal skills, communication and problem solving skills. You must be assertive and articulate with the ability to remain calm under pressure. You should pose excellent organisational and time management skills.

The team delivers Pain Management Programmes to people with chronic pain across Fife in hospital and leisure centre settings. Whilst the majority of the role will be working in group sessions, supporting some individual patient sessions will be necessary.

The successful candidate should have some experience within a care environment and an understanding of Physiotherapy and Chronic pain would be an advantage. You will also have proven clerical / administrative skills. We are looking for a team player who also has the ability to work on their own initiative, and shows excellent communication skills. A desire to work with this patient group is also vital to the post.

The primary function of this role will be to work with the Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy & District Nursing Services within Intermediate Care to deliver therapeutic treatment programmes to service users in the ward setting or their own homes, preventing hospital admission and supporting early discharge from hospital. Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists & District Nursing will provide specialist assessments to this patient group and allocate work to this post holder. This post will primarily deal with the function of daily care in the community; a service provided 365 days of the year from 0800-2200.

You will have an SVQ Level III in Health and Social Care or equivalent. Experience working as a support worker would be desirable. It would be desirable to have experience working with older people as they are the main group of service users referred.

Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team you will be expected to carry out ongoing treatment programmes for a mixed caseload of mainly older people.You will have good organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work independently as well as within the team. The wider Clinical Health specialty consists of posts which are embedded within multidisciplinary medical teams across the areas of Pain Management, Adult Weight Management, Rheumatology, Blood Born Virus, Oncology and a General Medical Service which takes referrals for a wide range of other medical conditions. Clinical work is conducted in community based clinics across Fife and the two main hospitals located in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. The full range of clinical presentations/complexity is represented and there are opportunities for group work, teaching and training and partnership work with other agencies.

You will provide specialist clinical assessment, treatment and consultancy. You will also contribute to the evaluation of the service, and to the development of evidence based practice. You should have expertise in delivering effective psychological interventions relating to a wide range of physical health problems and psychological aspects of chronic disease management.

You will participate in ongoing audit and evaluation of the service. You should have an academic qualification at degree level or equivalent in Psychology with the graduate basis for registration (GBR) with British Psychological Society (BPS), experience of working with people with mental health problems using CBT self help materials, previous experience of working directly with patients under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist and an understanding of the wider social issues that affect Health. The department is supported by 5 speciality Doctor sessions a Specialist Registrar from the Edinburgh rotation and a rotating GP trainee. Close working relationships exist with Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Monthly meetings are held with the local Histopathologists. The department has strong links with the Academic Department of Dermatology in Edinburgh and the Research and Development Department in NHS Fife.

The successful candidate will join a team of doctors and Paediatric and Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners in contributing to the junior tier rota covering acute paediatrics and neonates. Acute paediatric services are based in a 26 bed in-patient ward which is integral to the children’s services in the new Victoria Hospital. The ward has a dedicated High Dependency Bay, a separate Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Area (SSPAA) and a ground floor resuscitation room. The SSPAA acts as a focus for acute referrals from GPs, OOH service and ED.

The neonatal unit is a Level III neonatal unit with 14 Special Care cots, 4 intensive care cots and 2 high dependency care cots. There are 3,200 deliveries per year, including high-risk pregnancies, in a consultant-led obstetric unit and an "alongside" midwifery-led unit.

The post holder will have the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics (general paediatric as well as a wide variety of sub specialities)

The department has an excellent reputation for teaching (both Edinburgh and Dundee medical students are placed there) and training (ST3-8 paedatric trainees and GPSTs rotate from the SES training programme).

We are looking for people with a wide range of skills and backgrounds. You do not need to be an expert in health and/or social care.

If you believe that you have the experience and skills to take up this rewarding and challenging role, and are sensitive to the diverse needs of people and the health and care services which affect them, we would like to hear from you.

It is a commitment of 3 days per week for a remuneration of £33,446 per annum.

We want to hear from people with the senior level experience required for this significant appointment.
