An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a permanent Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join the Community nursing Team in the West Division. You will be deployed to meet the needs of the Division, including Community services, GP Practices, Care Homes and Community inpatient areas. You must be a registered nurse on part one of the NMC register and have extensive clinical knowledge and leadership experience. You must have evidence of completion of master’s level modules relating to advanced clinical practice and a commitment to completion of the full masters degree. You will be a non-medical prescriber and have a range of advanced clinical practice qualifications. Experience in telephone triage, minor illness, minor injury and paediatrics would be advantageous, but not essential.

This post will initially be based within Linburn Road Surgery, Dunfermline, to cover maternity leave.

An ability to travel will be necessary for this post.

The Fife Pain Management Service requires an experienced Nurse proficient in In-patient pain management to join their small team.

You must have extensive experience in the acute care setting. An up to date knowledge of evidence-based practice, an understanding of the delivery of an Inpatient pain management service, Epidural, PCA and IV Bolus competencies are essential. An MSc in Pain Management and/or qualified as an independent/supplementary prescriber would be desirable.

It is a busy nurse led service requiring assertiveness, good communication skills, team working and an ability to time manage the demands of this clinical role efficiently with a commitment to learning. Hours will be worked to meet the needs of the service which may include weekends, flexibility in working patterns is essential to provide service provision.

You must be open, committed and sensitive to the needs of the patients. There will be some degree of autonomy which will increase as more experience is gained. You should be able to communicate with patients in ways that empower them to make informed choices about their health and clinical management offering specialist support where necessary. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a progressive and innovative Mental Health Liaison Nurse. You will be based at Whyteman’s Brae Hospital, and provide mental health nurse liaison service to older adult in-patients with mental health issues in acute wards in the local general hospital. You will work closely with the Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist.

You must be an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse with experience of working with older adults in a range of mental health settings. It is essential that you have good interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and organisation and time management skills. You will provide assessment and advice on the management of mental health problems to colleagues in the acute setting. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent with evidence of continuous professional development and able to demonstrate an understanding of the impact of physical disorders on mental health. The service operates 9-5 Monday – Friday.

The Victoria Maternity Unit in Kirkcaldy, Fife is in a position to offer Staff Midwife posts, either band 5 or band 6 throughout the inpatient maternity unit, community and antenatal clinic settings. These vacancies will be permanent and are rotational throughout every area of the maternity unit, with various hours to be offered. You will also be considered to join our midwifery bank. You must be a NMC Registered Midwife or working towards registration, all levels of experience will be considered. You should possess excellent team working skills with effective communication and time management skills also. For a community midwife position you must be interested in caring for women and their families in the community and commit to an on call home birth service. An exciting opportunity has arisen in Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy for band 5 Registered Nurses to support, as part of the multidisciplinary team, the delivery of new models of care within 2 busy acute wards.

Ward 41 will open in early January 2018, initially until end of March 2018, caring for patients who require more complex discharge planning. The ward model will be supported by ‘Daily Dynamic Discharge’ methodology which has been developed by Scottish Government.

From early December 2017, ward 12 will increase bed numbers on a permanent basis from 16 to 23 beds and will continue to develop and embed the ‘Daily Dynamic Discharge’ methodology which it has recently introduced.

We require motivated Registered Nurses who are committed to multidisciplinary team working. As part of the multidisciplinary teams you will ensure the delivery of person-centred care and you will work closely with the Discharge Hub and other Health and Social Care colleagues to proactively manage the inpatient journey and discharge patients with appropriate support.

You should be able to work using your own initiative and have an active interest in mentoring students and junior staff. Venepuncture and cannulation skills are desirable but training can be provided. Good communication skills are essential.

The work will be based in the Fife ‘Veterans First Point’ (V1P) service, which was established in 2015. This is a Fife wide service, providing a central ‘one stop shop’ approach for veterans from our admin base in Cardenden, community “drop ins” in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy, and clinics in various parts of Fife. The holistic V1P model provides a range of social and mental health support to veterans. You will have responsibility for providing psychological therapies to Veterans. The full range of clinical presentations/complexity is represented and there are opportunities for group work and partnership work with other agencies. You will also contribute to service development, supervision, research and co-ordination of V1P. Personal experience of the military community and/or experience of working with veterans is desirable. The department provides a comprehensive pathology service to Fife (population 360,000). The department has undergone comprehensive refurbishment and expansion in order to relocate Cytology and Histopathology onto a single site. Concomitantly a new mortuary has been constructed to support the relocation of all acute activity at the Victoria site. The Victoria hospital has undergone considerable expansion by a PFI project whose capital requirement is in excess of £170 m with the new hospital having opened in January 2012. The department has a large and varied workload with an annual throughput of 24,000 surgical specimens, 26,000 gynae cytology, 1,400 diagnostic cytology specimens and 200 necropsies.

This is a replacement post. The successful candidate will join a team of 7 other NHS Consultants. The role includes reporting all aspects of histopathology with the scope to develop an area of special interest. Participation in the autopsy service and diagnostic/cervical cytology service would be desirable.

You should hold the FRCPath or equivalent qualification. Your role will be to utilise and build on your skills as a general practitioner. You will be supported in developing new skills in Emergency medicine and will work in all areas of the emergency department. You will assess the undifferentiated presentation of both adult and paediatric patients. You will provide clinical advice to more junior members of the medical team and support the EM consultants.

We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target. We have an excellent relationship and collaborate closely with all in-patient teams. As a department we are committed to teaching and providing a positive experience of EM to our junior doctors. Our trainees rate their experiences in Fife highly and this is recognised regionally and in GMC surveys.

All our current GPwSIs are positive about the experience of working within the ED. They feel their skills are valued, and that the knowledge gained working in the ED contributes to their work in primary care. In addition, their primary care skills are a valuable resource for the Emergency Department both on acase by case basis and for staff education.

We are currently recruiting junior clinical fellows to join us in delivering high quality medicine to the adult population of Fife; working as part of the existing Acute Medical and Medicine for the Elderly teams. The Acute Medicine posts will be based within the Emergency Ambulatory Unit, Acute Medical Unit and General Medicine, and the Medicine for the Elderly posts will be based within the Acute Geriatric assessment wards and Hospital at Home. There is a full commitment to the acute medical rota (nights, weekends and long days at GPST/ CT1 level) with flexibility to allow acting up at Medical Registrar level for trainees with appropriate prior experience.

Flying Start was produced by NHS Education for Scotland (NES) in 2006 and developed in line with research findings that confirmed that a period of preceptorship bridges the theory-practice gap and supports recruitment and retention.

It provides self-directed learning through ten learning units. You select activities most appropriate to your learning needs and area of work. These are:

The Newly Qualified Practitioner Flying Start ‘Rolling Programme’ is offered throughout NHS Fife by the Practice & Professional Development Department (Nursing and Midwifery Practice Education Facilitators and the AHP Practice Education Lead). These 4 sessions offer you support and guidance about getting started and progression through Flying Start, as well as putting you in touch with other practitioners participating in the programme.

Muiredge surgery is a well-established practice situated on the Fife coast, 10 minutes’ drive from Kirkcaldy and approximately 30-35 minutes’ drive from Dundee and Edinburgh.
