The thesis is intended to verify (1) whether there is a positive correlation between reading habit and reading comprehension; (2) whether there is a positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension; (3) whether there is a positive correlation between reading habit, vocabulary mastery, and reading comprehension. The research was carried out at MAN 1 Surakarta in May 2012. The population of this study was the eleventh grade students of Science Class in the academic year of 2011/2012. The sample of this study is all students in the science class, consist of 90 students, 34 students to be the subject of try-out and 56 students to be the subject of research. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. The instruments in collecting the data were questionnaire and test. The questionnaire was used to get the data of students reading habit while the test was used to get the data of students vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension. The questionnaire and test of try-out were given to 34 students of the eleventh grade students of Science Class in the academic year of 2011/2012. The technique used to analyze the data was single and multiple regression and correlation. The result of the research are (1) there is no correlation between students reading habit (X1) and reading comprehension (Y) because the coefficient of correlation r-obtained is lower than r-table (0.030 < 0.266); (2) there is a positive correlation between students vocabulary mastery (X2) and reading comprehension (Y) because the coefficient of correlation r-obtained is higher than r-table (0.374 > 0.266); (3) there is a positive correlation between students reading habit (X1), vocabulary mastery (X2), and reading comprehension (Y) because R-obtained is higher than r-table (0.374 > 0.266) and also the F-obtained is higher than F-table (4.307 > 3.15). Regarding to the result of the research, the researcher suggests that to improve reading comprehension, the teacher should consider students vocabulary mastery first then their reading habit.
