Message From the PRESIDENT

Established in 2003, AB Construction is a full-service general contractor that provides a wide range of construction services to federal, state and local entities. AB Construction delivers cost effective, quality work on schedule. While focusing on mission critical areas for the success of our clients, we have successfully managed steady upward growth by implementing strong management controls along with direct response to our clients’ needs. Capabilities include, but are not limited to, total site development and infrastructure construction with: full service civil construction site work; demolition and debris services; earthwork; heavy highway; bridges; all aspects of underground utility construction and rehabilitation including water, sanitary, sewer and duct bank.

In addition, AB Construction has expertise in Design-Build and an array of environmental services, construction management and special project capabilities such as disaster/emergency response. We are one of only a few certified small businesses in the Mid-Atlantic region that self-performs all aspects of horizontal site construction from civil construction, earthwork, and utilities, to roadways, bridges and stream restoration.

Throughout each phase of our projects we collaborate with architects, engineers, sub-contractors and the client to ensure satisfaction. We are headquartered in Waldorf, Maryland and maintain additional satellite offices throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, allowing us to serve clients more efficiently. Our seasoned management and workforce including: estimators, project managers, safety personnel, administrative staff and field personnel hold over 30+ years of construction and project management experience.

AB Construction has successfully served as the general contractor self-performing on projects with a number of federal and state agencies in the mid-Atlantic Region of the United States for both public and private sectors as well as civilian and DoD clients which include but are not limited to: the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, USACE, NAVFAC, VDOT, DELDOT, PENDOT, MDOT, SHA, and several other jurisdictions within Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Preconstruction

Project Management

Careful planning prior to the start of construction provides the foundation on which every subsequent step is based. Addressing critical details during preconstruction results in fewer construction phase changes, reduced construction time, and cost savings. It also ensures that the finish product will meet the client’s needs.

For the best results we work closely with the client and design team in the preconstruction phase. By paying attention to critical details, we can reduce both time and costs and make sure the finished product meets our clients’ needs. We develop cost estimates and analyze building materials, systems and construction methods to ensure we start the best possible project. The AB Construction Team provides complete demolition services, including concrete cutting, crushing and separating, steel cutting and equipment dismantling. Our experience ranges from partial demolition to entire buildings. AB Construction’s demolition services are centered on efficiency and safety. AB Construction’s superintendents and project managers make safety-planning part of their daily routines. All of our employees participate in daily “take-five” safety meetings or “toolbox talks”. AB Construction has established an extensive and ongoing training program consisting of OSHA, First Aid/CPR and other related training and company sponsored coursework. We have incentive programs to reward safe performance at both the project team and individual levels. Everyone in the AB Construction family deserves to go home injury-free each day and that is what we strive towards.

AB Construction has not experienced a lost time incident in the history of the company. Since safety ranks above all other aspects of our business, including schedule and production, we have consistently maintained an outstanding safety record with EMR’s (Experience Modifier Rate) well below 1.0.
