A voice for Victorian AHA’s
• November 2018 an EOI was circulated for an AHA
network for Victoria with an overwhelming show of
support.
• Application forms were then circulated for committee
membership.
• March 2019 AHAVN Committee met

v Professional Development- making links with other associations and supporting the development of AHA specific PD.v Uploading PD links to our website.v Working on developing a better understanding of the AHA scope of practice especially on how this relates to our grading system.
Education teamv Compiled a list of all RTO’s that offer cert III and IV, including online.
v Conducted survey on Cert III and IV courses (due for review soon). *Top 3 suggestions for improvement for the AHA courses:
• Increase clinical placement hours ( increase to 160 hours)• More AHA’s teaching AHA’s • All disciplines to be covered in core units (PT/OT/SP/DT/SW)
v Surveyed network on the development and implementation of further study:• 84% supported an AHA Diploma or further education/upskilling.
v Posting Professional Development opportunities for AHA’s on AHAVN website.
v Represented network on a steering committee for the development of a Cross skilling course (NDIS) for AHA’s and disability field

development opportunities.

There are over 1000 AHA’s in public health in Victoria and an unknown number in private health.
