Acknowledgements

I would like to thank my friends in the Huntsville Middle School Band:

Kaitlyn Conner, Kaitlin Gabbard, Dustin Pflueger, and Aaron Lewallen. One of the

stories in Part two is about one time we hung out together after school. There are

three stories that have Kaitlin Gabbard in them. I would also like to thank

Elizabeth Raume. She inspired the “Adventures of Coka Micko”. The final person I

would like to thank is Cassandra Clare. She is the author of the “Mortal

Instruments” series. She inspired me to write exciting stories, and all of part three

wouldn’t have happened without her. I dedicate this to all of these people.

Part One

All of the stories in part one are informal. “Resolutions” is about my New

Year’s resolutions. “How to Bake Chocolate Chip Cookies” is obviously informing

you how to bake chocolate chip cookies. “Be Thankful” is informal about the little

things we don’t always realize we should be thankful for. “Court Case” is a little

piece about how one juror can turn a whole court case around. Then the last one is

called “Justice and Punishment”. It explains the difference between justice and

punishment.

Resolutions

One New Year’s resolution for myself would have to be getting along with

my family. I can’t get along with my mom even if I try because if we finally start

getting along she ends up yelling at me and we start fighting again.

Then a New Year’s resolution I would like to make about school is to study

more. I’ve had zeros before and they brought my grade down, and I’ve almost had

to run in basketball because of it. I want to have better grades so I don’t have to

worry when the coach starts calling out names.

Then for the world, my resolution would be to start recycling. We waste way

too many things, and its killing our Earth. We need to stop it in every way possible.

How to Bake Chocolate Chip Cookies

One skill I have is baking cookies, especially chocolate chip cookies. If I had

a friend who was willing to learn how to bake them I would tell them what they

need, and what they had to do.

First off, you will need: flour, sugar, semi-sweet chocolate chips, eggs,

baking soda, butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. The other materials you

would require are: an oven, a pan, a cookie sheet, two to three spoons (for mixing),

a set of measuring utensils, two medium sized bowls, and one large sized bowl.

Then you will have to mix together the wet ingredients in one of the medium

sized bowls, and the dry ingredients in the other medium sized bowl. Then you

combine them into the large bowl and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips. After

that you lay out about twelve little blobs of cookie dough on the cookie sheet, and

bake them in the oven for about ten minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. After that

you take them out and leave them for about two minutes. Then you may enjoy.

Be Thankful

There are a lot of things to be thankful for, but not everybody realizes it.

There’s life to be thankful for, that’s a start. Then for some people, they should be

thankful that they don’t have disabilities. There are also kids in Africa and other

places around the world that would kill to have food while there are people over

here that don’t always eat all of their food and throw it away. There are also the

clothes on our back, and some of us have jobs while some people are going

bankrupt because they don’t have jobs. Be thankful for houses, shelter, food,

water, and friends.

Court Case

There’s a murder case in court. The person accused of murder is Kaitlin. She

claims she wasn’t there the same night the crime was done. There was a security

camera, but it only caught the murderer from behind. Kaitlin fit the look.

Eleven of the jurors looked at the evidence and said she was guilty.

However, one juror was undecided. She watched the video over and over again.

She couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but something was off.

The next day, the juror asked if she could look at the back of Kaitlin’s neck.

Then it hit her; Kaitlin didn’t have any tattoos or extra markings on the back of her

neck! The juror pointed this out to the judge, and showed him the video. So

therefore Kaitlin was found innocent, and was dropped of all charges. Now the

only mystery was where is the real murderer?

Justice and Punishment

I think that most people act out of fear for their own safety. Some people

are brave enough to stand up to others, and try to help someone else but others

stay out of the way so they won’t get hurt.

The difference between seeking justice and a desire to punish is major. If

you seek justice, then you have a reason for it. The desire to punish doesn’t really

need a reason and the punishment can vary in major ways. Justice is the right way,

and punishment is wrong. However, justice may end in punishment but it’s not the

same thing.

Part 2

The stories of part two are a mixed bunch. “Jobs for Angel” and “After

School Fun” are both things that actually happened. “Jobs for Angel” is the story

of how I got my dog Angel. The “After School Fun” is about my band friends and I

before a football game. “Castaway” is about two girls that buy a boat that go from

city folk, to being stranded on an island in only a matter of hours. Then the last

story of this part, “The Dark Truth”, is exactly what it’s called. It’s about the dark

truths that surround us.

Jobs for Angel

One time when I wanted a dog, my dad said I had to do a few jobs for him. He

said he would go buy me a dog if I fed the pigs, washed the dishes, and did the

laundry. It wasn’t really hard work, but it took me all day. So later that night, dad

said, ”Lab, beagle, or blood hound?”

I chose the beagle and to this day we still have her. Her name is Angel, she’s

about knee high, and she is the prettiest beagle you will ever see. When we first

got her, dad called mom and said he was babysitting and we should come see. He

works at Mountain Olive Water Association, and they have a no shoes, no shirt, no

service policy. Unfortunately I didn’t wear shoes that day, but they allowed me to

be an exception. Dad is the manager so his office is right next to the lobby. I went

in, and the first thing I noticed was a little shoe box in the corner, containing my

little angel.

Adventures of Coka Micko

Coka Micko was just as happy as he could be. He had faced the human world

and won. Earlier that year he had been accused of murder. He had found the dead

body of Jack Frost in his freezer, and had had to go to court. He would have won

the trial either way because he was a unicorn, but he was innocent. It turned out

that Jack Frost’s husband, Old Man Winter Frost, was the murderer.

Later after the case, Coka Micko had eaten Jack, and boy was he nasty! That

was the last time he would ever try to eat a human!

Coka Micko then gave the rest of the body back to the humans. They were

shocked to see him again, but they didn’t complain. Coka Micko was the only

unicorn they knew about, and they didn’t want to frighten him off to where he

wouldn’t return. So they offered him normal horse feed, which he refused. He

wasn’t just any old horse, he was a unicorn!

He returned home, but only to find ashes. His home was there when he left,

what could have happened?

As Coka Micko searched through the ashes, he found a note. It said, “This is

for Jack,” Coka Micko just stared. He didn’t do anything to Jack. Maybe someone

watched him eat Jack. There might have been someone out there that hadn’t yet

heard about the outcome of the case, but he decided it would be best to lay low for

a while.

After School Fun

It was Tuesday, and my group was ready to go. Percussion, low brass, and

high brass were still in the band room, boing their sectionals. Me, Dustin, Kaitlin,

Londyn, and Aaron walked off the hill. We went to Ozark Foods, and got coffees.

Londyn didn’t get any, but she had a sip of Kaitlin’s.

I was obsessing over that coffee. I later went back to Ozark Foods for

more with Dustin. The clerk asked if I really needed more coffee. I didn’t

know what it would do to me until it was too late.

The band eventually met up at the Huntsville Intermediate

playground. We marched into the football field, and we went to the

band stands. About an hour playing, I started shaking uncontrollably. I

felt as if I had a fever, and I broke out into a cold sweat. That was

when I lost it, all the stress and problems I had had that day came

down in a river of tears.

15 | P a g e

Castaway

Kaitlin had just came back to the apartment, and she

looked like she was about to burst.

“I got a raise!” she announced.

We finally had enough for that boat.

“Finally!” I yelled, “We can finally go on our trip!”

“Where are we going again?” she asked.

“I have no idea! We can just sail out and stop when we

find some land”

Kaitlin looked uneasy, but she didn’t protest.

“Did you pack up all you need?” I asked, it had been a

week since we got the boat.

“Yah, I think so.” She answered

“Then let’s go!” I said, a wide smile jumping across my

face. We were off! I kicked off the dock, and we were gone.

“Did you grab-“she began.

“Look out!” I exclaimed.

Then we crashed into what looked like an uninhabited

island. Color flooded it like a tsunami floods a town. Birds flew left

and right. Just in a few hours, we and become castaways.

Dark Truth

Kari is an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. However that didn’t protect her

from what was about to come. Her life was about to be invaded by dark beasts.

She was only seven when they started to surround her. There was no way to

escape them. They are real, dark, and scary. They vary in size and strength.

Kari is now eight-teen. The dark beasts have only multiplied. With no

escape, no hiding, they would not leave. The have gotten stronger over the years,

and they have gotten closer. These scary beasts are the dark truth of everyday life.

Part 3

All the stories in part three are inspired by, or about the “Mortal Instruments”

series except for “Terror Tornado”. “Found” and “Found Part Two” are about a

young woman named Emily who is being hunted by a black-eyed young man named

Tyler from whom she can’t escape. “Mortal Instruments Summary” is just what the

title is. It’s a summary of the first three books of the “Mortal Instruments” series.

Then “Clary” is about how Clary sees things after the Mortal War. Last but not least

, is “Terror Tornado”. It is about a young boy named Tom whose normal day turns

into a terror as a tornado rips right through it.

Found

I didn’t know exactly where the train was going. After paying my fare, I

simply stood on the platform waiting for it to whisk me away to somewhere,

anywhere but here. And that’s when it happened.

A dozen cloaked figures emerged from the bushes surrounding me. The one

that seemed the biggest and the bulkiest took a step forward, then I reached for

my purse. I was always prepared. I unleashed the deadly blades to the outside. All

I could see was shadows under his dark hood, and his black cloak turning darker

with blood as I slashed at him, spilling his blood.

The others took no notice to their fallen comrade. There was only eleven

now, they started to gather in front of me. I counted them in my head: one, two,

three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten…

Then the eleventh came up behind me, surprising me so much I drop my

purse; my only weapon. He slipped a bitter sweet smelling cloth to my nose. I

struggled for as long as I could but it was no use. My consciousness was slipping,

and his iron muscled arms encaged me. Then everything went black.

19 | P a g e

Found Part Two

I woke up in a dark room. There was a beam of light that came down in the

middle of the room. Both my hands were tied together behind me, and my legs

were bound to the chair. One of the dark cloaked figures emerged from the

darkness. Then it came forward, the hood of its cloak hiding its face, and pulled

my hair back behind my ear and forced my head up.

“Well, well, well. It’s nice to see you again, Emily,” it said. I froze. That voice

was so horribly familiar, and it sent chills throughout my body. It was Tyler.

He threw back his hood, revealing beach blond hair and black eyes. I still

couldn’t manage to move.

“Let me go, Tyler,” I said with as much bitter hatred as I could manage to fit

in. He just stared at me and shook his head.

“I missed you too. Why do you keep running? You know we will always find

you. You can’t hide from us. I still never understood why you left. Do you care to

explain?” he asked. He knew why I left. He knows they had beaten me on a daily

basis.

“I left for my own good,” I finally said.

“But you know I would never let them hurt you. You were perfectly safe with

me,” he said with a pained expression on his face. Tears stung the back of my eyes

like a thousand of tiny needles. Lies. I turned away from him, only to have him grab

my chin and yank it to face him again.

“Emily, just look at me,” he said, with a pleading tone. No I thought. No

more. I made sure not to look at him. I surveyed the room for any possible escape.

“Emily, if I would have known-“his voice broke off. He sounded close to

tears, but that wasn’t right; Tyler doesn’t cry. My heart felt heavy with the painful

memories, and the disappointing defeat. I finally looked up at him. His black eyes

like a bottomless pit.

“What do you want from me?” I asked. His pained expression turned into a

smirk. He turned and ordered the others out of the room. I felt my heart leap. There

was an escape after all. Tyler cut my restraints and let me up. I let out a sigh of

relief and rubbed my raw wrists. There was still hope. There was a door, the only

thing between me and my freedom was Tyler.

Clary

We were walking down the Institute hall. The pictures of the Angel Raziel

with the mortal instruments were everywhere. The banisters, the walls, even the

door were covered in this image. It was an image of the Angel Raziel, carrying the

mortal instruments out of Lake Lyn.

Jace and I had figured out the long lost mortal mirror was the lake. I had

tried to stop Valentine from raising the angel, but failed. However I succeeded in

making his plan to rule the shadow hunters. He was a psycho path, and this is

difficult to say, my biological father. He was also the adoptive father of Jace (the

love of my life). Once he had figured out the lake was the mirror he had decided to

recreate the shadow hunter world in his own image.

He was killed by the angel Raziel. It had stopped him at the last possible

moment, but the image of Raziel remains. However long Jace and my heroism lived

on in history, the angel would always be there, standing in the lake, holding the

mortal instruments in hand until the end of the shadow hunters.

Terror Tornado

The day was just a normal day for Tom, or so he thought. He was heading

home, it was windy but bright and sunny. He had just shut the front door when the

wind was getting out of control. He saw a few trees falling. It looked as if Mother

Nature were searching for something. Then the lights flickered. Tom ran to the

window. He saw dark clouds had taken over the sky. The cars were rocking, trees,

light posts, phone lines were being destroyed. He ran to the bathroom and curled

up in the bathtub. Then all the power went out. He thought her could hear screams,

or people crying out in terror. It was difficult to tell over the screaming of the wind.
