Dear families of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Each day we are bombarded with thousands of words. From the moment our clock radios click on in the morning, until the last moment of the day when the television is turned off or someone bids us “good-night,” our life is filled with words. Some words that we hear bring news that leaves us feeling low. Some words lift our spirits. Many of the words we hear are trying to get us to buy something. Some words are hurtful. Today the Church focuses our attention on hearing the word of God. Are God’s words just more of the same—part of the endless stream of words that flow into our ears each day? The challenge today is to allow God’s word to inspire us in new ways so that our outlook and attitudes align themselves more closely with the heart and mind of Christ Jesus. This weekend we would like to welcome Fr. Erick back for a short stay. I asked him to come to say farewell masses. We were blessed to have Fr. Erick here at IHM for almost 4 years and we were sorry to see him go. Unfortunately, his leaving came at a time when we were unable to give him a proper sendoff but take advantage of his visit to say hi, thank him for the time he was here and wish him blessings for his new position at St. Raymond in Dublin. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. Fr. Quang

Amen.

Readings Gloria Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Reading 1 Is 55:10-11 Thus says the LORD: Just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down and do not return there till they have watered the earth, making it fertile and fruitful, giving seed to the one who sows and bread to the one who eats, so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; my word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it. Responsorial Psalm PS 65:10, 11, 12-13, 14 “The seed that falls on good ground will yield a fruitful harvest”
Reading 2 Rom 8:18-23 Brothers and sisters: I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us. For creation awaits with eager expectation the revelation of the children of God; for creation was made subject to futility, not of its own accord but because of the one who subjected it, in hope that creation itself would be set free from slavery to corruption and share in the glorious free-dom of the children of God. We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now; and not only that, but we ourselves who have the first fruits of the Spirit,
we also groan within ourselves as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. Gospel Matt 13:1-9 On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hun-dred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”
The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection
against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the
Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan
and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen

Last week was a wonderful weekend seeing you in the church again. I, Fr. Arturo,
Deacon John and the staff would like to thank everyone who came to Masses. To see people in
the pews again was Faith renewing. Thank you to all the ministers and technologist who have
worked so hard to make sure we had a smooth and great reopening of our church. You could
feel God, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit present in the church welcoming everyone back. As
we go forward may we all be reminded of our spiritual health and continue to come back to
celebrating Mass in our church.
Fr. Quang

Urgent Notice: Dear IHM Catholic women 18 and over: Our Catholic Daughters Court Immaculate Heart of Mary #2714, which was established four years ago is in dire need of your help. We have a small court and no one has volunteered to be interested in becoming Regent, and the other officers that cannot continue will be happy to assist the new officers. Officer training will be held in August at St. Raymond’s. This training will provide each officer with the tools and contacts to be successful. As Immediate Past Regent I will be available all the time to assist anyone wanting to be a member or officer. This Court has been very successful in supporting IHM, IHM ministries and many causes in Brentwood with financial and physical service. For me, it would be heartbreaking to have the Court disbanded. I am praying that many women at IHM will respond to this notification. My sincere prayers that we can keep the Court from being disbanded. If you are interested in becoming a Catholic Daughter, please contact me at 925-216-1924 or at: [email protected] as quickly as possible.
