Dear families of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Prophets have always had a tough row to hoe. Their words, often unwelcome, are used against them to persecute and even kill them. Such was the fate of the Old Testament prophets, and Jeremiah is a great example of this. Jesus endured opposition from sinners, and did not turn back from a shameful death in order to rise to a glorious new life. The ultimate prophet, Jesus sought to warn the people of his time and ours of the divisions that his words would cause, showing himself to be the prophet of all time. We all need to look at our divisions and dilemmas in light of Jesus’ teachings and warnings, and seek to understand all that he has proclaimed and taught about what will happen if we fail to listen. On the plaza next weekend August 24-25, we will have our tutoring ministry here taking registrations. This ministry is made up of retired teachers to help students with their studies. The grades covered are 1-5. We also have a high school tutoring ministry. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. IHM Tutoring Ministry Grades 1-5 The IHM Tutoring Ministry Grades 1-5 will begin tutoring on October 16,2019. We will be tutoring 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders of registered IHM parents in reading, writing and math skills. Tutoring registration will take place after all Saturday and Sunday English and Spanish Masses on August 24-25 in the Church Plaza. Tutoring registration deadline is Sunday August 30, 2019. A waiting list will be available for students who register after August 30, 2019. We are blessed to have many retired teachers as well as interested adults who have worked with children in the reading, writing and math areas. We are now in need of additional tutors since the number of students needing help has increased. If you are interested in tutoring students contact Mary Lou Klovee at 516-7484 for further information. During the Month of August 2019, IHM registered Parents may obtain Tutoring Registration forms and return the completed forms to the Church Office before August 30, 2019 OR you can register your Child for Tutoring after the Masses on August 24-25 in the Church Plaza.
Youth Mass Starting this October the 2nd Saturday 5PM Mass will be a monthly Youth and Family Mass. We invite everyone to support this effort aimed at engaging our young parishioners and their families to be more actively involved in various liturgical ministries like greeting, singing, lecturing and Eucharistic ministry! Our youth and their families are encouraged to serve along side our wonderful 5pm Mass ministers to learn and grow in their knowledge of serving God and our community.
