Seawater Reverse Osmosis Plant for India’s First
4,000 MW Ultra Mega Power Projec t
The Fac ility
India’s first Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) atMundra in Coastal Gujarat, a 4,000 MW coal fired
plant, is owned by Coastal Gujarat Power Limited
(CGPL), a Ta ta Power group c ompany. Ta ta Pow er is
India's largest private sector power utility with an
insta lled ge neration c ap ac ity of o ver 2,300 MW. The
CG PL UMPP, aw arde d on a 20 yea r BOO T basis, will
be India’s first private sector power project using
supercritical boiler technology; and is expected to
be the most energy efficient p lant in India.
CGPL will draw seawater from the Mundra coast for
various utilities and for their main boiler. Aquatech
has been awarded the contract for executing the4,622 GPM (25,200 m3 / day) (p erme ate ) capac ity
Seawate r Reverse Osmosis Plant (SWRO) on EPC
Basis. Aquatech is honored and very proud to be
associated with the First UMPP going on stream in
the c ountry.

Solids (TDS) conte nt varying from 42,000 mg/ l toThe SolutionOne of the larger desalination projects to come up

SWRO tec hno logy, will prod uc e 25.2 MLD o
desalinated water for various end user applications
A part of desalinated water will further be treated
through a BWRO system to produce 660 GPM (3,600
m3 / day) of perme ate for using in the up stream
mixed beds demineralization plant for boiler feed
application.
The Aq ua tec h SWRO syste m c onsists of a 2 x 6,16
GPM (2 x 1,400 m3 / hr) p retrea tm ent p lan
comprising of Lamella Clarifiers followed by two
sta ge filtrat ion using Dua l Med ia a nd Pressure Sand
Filters. The SWRO system c onsists of four streams o
SWRO banks followe d by tw o banks of BWRO.
Aquatec h also has a ma ndate to c arry out the O&M
for a p eriod of Three years a fter com missioning o
the CGPL projec t.

a t the out let o f SWRO a nd 5-7 mg / l TDS levels a t the

(BWRO).
