Classroom steps for Norm breakingFirst, have student take a break/get back self-control. Or, redirect

student with a verbal reminder as to what behavior is expected.

Second, Verbal reminder: student will note what they should be doing in a private conversation with teacher.

Third incident, student will be sent to take a break or another classroom for a break/reflection.

Next incident, student will be sent to solution room and when appropriate will meet with principal to determine a consequence or plan of action.

These steps are sequential and start fresh each day.

Reading! (125 min. a week minimum)– Read 25-30 min. a night

Parent Responsibilities

Support your child’s learning– Check the communication folder daily. – Provide a time and a place for homework. The

more consistent you are the more successful your child will be.

– Read and Respond to classroom communications in a timely manner. Contact teacher with questions.

– Did you know that if you provided an email address to the school that the district expects you are checking it often and they do not send you paper copies of most communications? Be sure to give a current email address and be prepared to check it often.

– Let us know if you don’t have access to technology. – Attend school events and connect with our

community!

– This should ALWAYS be kept in the home school folder as we use it daily in class and it serves to inform families of

daily responsibilities. Collected every 2 weeks for reading minutes!!

Encourage your child, but let them use their own thinking strategies to solve problems.
