Wayne County 4-H 2011-2012 Recognition Event

It is the time of year to celebrate last year's 4-H accomplishments. This year's event is

going to be held Friday, March 15th in the evening at the Wayne County MSU Extension

office at 5454 Venoy Road in Wayne, MI. Right now, the plans are to have Chris Cakes with

the flying pancakes. We had this great food and fun a few years ago at the event. If you did

not get to experience then, this is your chance! Save the date!! Invites will be going out in

the near future. RSVPs are due March 8th to Laurie Rivetto via e-mail or phone- include the

name of 4-H members or volunteers and the number of additional guests attending.

The event includes the food and a short program (about an hour) recognizing all registered 4-

H members from the 2011-2012 year with a member pin, honoring our awesome 4-H

volunteers, many giveaways and gift bags to take home, and the giving out of some special

awards. Some of those special awards for 4-H Members require an application. To get an

application, contact Laurie Rivetto at [email protected].

They include:

-Wayne County 4-H Project Awards for accomplishments in a project area during the 2011-

2012 year

-Leadership and Personal Growth

-Community Service

Some of the award applications require the youth to complete parts, some are completed by a

leader, and some are completed by both. All applications are due March 1.

Please also note that the event will include a 4-H Club Display Contest. This is a great time to

share your club's accomplishments and then learn about what other clubs are doing across the

county. Each club that creates a display will get a token of appreciation for participating.

Voting will take place at the event, prior to the program, and the winning club gets a special

prize. This part of the event is generally well-liked and supports the camaraderie across

Wayne County. The attached document explains more about the Club Display. Discuss at your

next club meeting and show off the amazing things your club does!

The event will also feature a scrolling photo display before the program of pictures from the

Sept 1, 2011- August 31, 2012 4-H Year. Get your club or 4-H family photos in the display!

Send photos to Laurie Rivetto at [email protected] by March 1st for inclusion. The more

photos, the more exciting and fun the display.
