The team is comprised of students from public, private, and home schools. We have grown from students representing two schools in 2007 to students representing 12 schools in the 2012 season. US First releases the game world wide the first Saturday in January. The team then has 6 weeks to design, build, program, test and ship their 120 pound robot for competitions in March / April. Our Mission is simple. We want everyone to have fun while learning. And we want to interest the workforce of tomorrow about opportunities that exist in the realm of science and technology. Manufacturing, information technology and engineering personnel are in high demand. FIRST Robotics teams help students explore these fields. Quality Manager: Bloomington ILJOB DESCRIPTION - Our growing heavy equipment metal fabrication manufacturer has an immediate need for a Quality Manager to oversee plant QA, ISO-9001 systems management, and customer interface. The successful candidate must be a hands-on type manager, expected to drive Root Cause analysis methodology (5 Why) and partner with Operations to reduce PPM quality rejects for metal fabrication processes (laser, welding, forming, powder paint). Will participate in Lean and six sigma DMAIC team projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS - Must be proficient with GD&T, APQP, PPAP, CMM, and Root Cause analysis and demonstrate ten years progressive experience in quality engineering or management. Must work with a sense of urgency, be a self-starter, think preventatively, and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Will work ½ days most Saturdays. Metal (steel) fabrication, automotive, or heavy equipment experience is preferred. ASQ certifications, Lean, Six Sigma experience desired.

Operations Quality Engineer:The primary role of the Operations Quality Engineer is to provide quality engineering in support of all manufacturing operations. This includes the machining, electro-mechanical assembly and electronic assembly areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Responsible for relentless root cause and corrective action working with manufacturing and engineering addressing a variety of internal and

customer quality issues (in accordance with internal document D-474). Take action to formulate and implement action plans.• Responsible to review and approve manufacturing and assembly process plans. This includes new process plans as well as changes due to

process improvements and ECN activity. • Work closely with the Customer Quality Engineer to support timely problem resolution of customer issues where causes are traced to

manufacturing related operations. • Lead the Material Review Board to ensure timely disposition of nonconforming product.• Perform process audits, document results, including nonconformance and make timely recommendations for improvement.• Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection and evaluation.• Responsible to guide technical evaluations, analysis and related data acquisition processes to ensure quality objectives are achieved.• Responsible to lead or participate in continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, LEAN methods, poka-yoke,

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Working knowledge of blueprint interpretation in accordance with ANSI/Y-14.5.• Proficiency in process control tools (SPC, Process Capability, PFMEA, Gage R&R, etc.).• Thorough knowledge in systematized approach to corrective action methodologies (8D, RCCA, 5 Why’s, etc.).• Working knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO9001 quality management system requirements.• Solid command in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Power point experience is preferred.• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks, adhering to strict deadlines and commitments. • Ability to work effectively with internal staff, building relationships that assist in getting BVR quality requirements met.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with all BVR functional areas (i.e., management team, shop

floor employees, mfg engineers, quality team, etc.) to identify and resolve quality related issues. • Ability to make solid decisions and recommendations in a rapid paced, forward evolving environment.• Ability to identify and facilitate continuous improvement actions so as to support the company’s LEAN environment. •Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Proficiency in Minitab.• Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing methodologies• Proficiency in leading cross-functional teams

Education and Experience:• Bachelor degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering or other related degree.• Three to five years of progressive experience working in a comparable capacity, preferably within the aerospace or medical device industry.• ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, etc.) preferred.• LEAN and/or Six Sigma certifications a plus.
