In 1970, Roseborough Travel Agency was established by female entrepreneur Mildred Roseborough on the foundation that this community travel agency would plan vacation arrangements for residents of Volusia County. Over the past 45 years, this business has changed dramatically. It went through an ownership change to Marywayne, Mildred’s daughter in the mid 90’s. We survived through tragedies like 9/11, hurricanes, tsunamis, many other obstacles, and unforeseen events that closed other agencies. And in 2010, we changed hands in ownership again. Cathy Blanchette, Tiffany Clay, John Pauszek, and Amanda Vallone partnered together to bring this community travel company into the 21st century. JoHannas Sail-A-BrationWhile aboard Royal Caribbean International on a 4-night Bahamas Cruise in December 2013 my husband and I accepted one of the fun challenges Royal Caribbean offered. We participated scavenger hunt where all things were to be found on their private island - CoCo Cay. We found this adventure to be a fun way to explore the island. Our findings brought us upon a discovery that Black Beard has a tomb on the island (pic attached) we discovered the water park and a beautiful walking trail. I highly recommend to all those who love to explore to take the challenge when it is offered. Your kids will love the adventure as well! Oh and did I mention that it is FREE and you get a prize if you find all of the items!

Let me tell you a bit about just what it is that makes Alaska such an attractive and magical place. The name itself is derived from the native Aleut word “alysehka” meaning - The Great Land. I’d like to invite you to join me in August when I visit “The Great Land” for my first time. Though I have sent a great many people on this once in a lifetime experience, I have never actually been there myself. I cannot wait to feel the way I have heard so many describe it. You may think it is a once in a lifetime experience, but something about this “great land” makes your soul want to go back for more. Let’s explore this huge, spectacular and diverse land - it’s one of the last and greatest unspoiled wildernesses on earth. Let’s see it before it’s gone.

What a grand time we had in Ireland this year. Wonderful weather, a fantastic

tour guide and Brendan Vacations took very good care of us! From Dublin to

the Cliff’s of Moher - the countryside was beautiful, the coast breathtaking and the scones amazing. The people were as friendly as can be. The sounds of the Bodhran Drums, and seeing all the castles, and churches, and the pubs were just awesome. If you’re wondering...yes! I did climb the stairs to the top of Blarney Castle. When I was asked to describe what Ireland was like I had to really think, and I cannot take credit for this statement (a client who was also there shared it with me) but I will share it with you “I felt like I was home.” and I truly was.

You only live once... YOLO: that is my motto. Most of our clients know me, many have traveled with me, and some know me only through this newsletter. Any of the previously mentioned probably realize I like to travel; a LOT. My husband, George actually travels most of the year for work, and when asked what he does in his spare time his response is always “I travel... more”.

This year we welcomed our amazing daughter into the world and very quickly she was dubbed “Aurora the Explorer”. At only 7 months old Aurora the Explorer has traveled to New York State; Hot Springs, AR; Memphis, TN; and to 5 of the Southern Caribbean Islands, she even flew first class at the young age of 5 months old (I flew for my first time in first class the same day as she did - and I am 30). Many have also heard how we got her name, A Roseborough group actually got to experience the trip with us. In August 2013, George and I were escorting a group trip to Alaska & the Yukon. On the search for the Aurora Borealis, the northern lights, we were. I could tell you in every city and town where the nearest medical facility or pharmacy were in Alaska because we had just undergone IVF in order to get pregnant. We found out in Tok, AK that in fact the IVF had worked and in Skagway (before boarding our Holland America Line Cruise) we received the blood test results that we were pregnant. Our lovely group of clients traveling with us were made aware of why I was always looking for a medical facility, in need of daily injections, and they became our cheerleaders. When we made the announcement to them in Skagway that we were indeed going to be parents (after 10 years of marriage), they celebrated with us and became instant grandparents to the bun in my oven. Well, George and I were thinking of names the whole time we were on this trip. Surely we did not want to name our child Skagway... and Tok didn’t really do it for us either. When we thought of a girl, we thought of beauty and that she would be the light of our life. Aurora, or the “dawn” was a perfect name for our child.

My Holland America rep, Amy always tells this story at our Alaska events because Aurora will forever be part of the Holland America Family. And in true travel fashion, Aurora the Explorer’s middle name is Capri, as in Capri, Italy- the Isle of Love.

I digress, You Only Live Once. I tell you the story of my love for travel, my travel inspired “mini me”, and our group trip because I like to take advantage of every single opportunity that is given to me. Life happens and it ends in the blink of an eye. This year I had a near death experience (I won’t bore you with the gory details), but this experience solidified my views on YOLO as my life’s motto. I feel like every foreign and domestic new destination I visit leads to new experiences. I gain a piece of my soul in every new destination and leave a piece behind as well. One day I hope to re-travel the world and collect the pieces of me I have left behind and experience the world all over again. I hope to raise my daughter with these life long memories and shape her soul to truly fit her name Aurora the Explorer. My next adventure- China- We will see the intricately fashioned Terricotta warriors, get to experience and actually walk along part of the 5,500 mile long Great Wall, visit Tiananmen’s Square, and sail the Yangtze

River. We have a fabulous group departure in which air is included, and the space is limited. After that? We will be going to Costa Rica where we will come face to face with the exotic wildlife that inhabits tranquil Costa Rica’s emerald rainforests. Cruise the canals in search of wildlife in the famous eco-tourism spot of Tortuguero National Park. Explore the magic of the Monteverde Cloud Forest by bravely crossing the Sky Walk chain of suspension bridges. We will end our trip with a stay at Guanacaste Beach - where the beach meets the rainforest.
