2A AREA D MARCHING CONTEST Rocket Field, Robinson, TX October 28 th 2017 Directors, First of all, congratulations on advancing to the Area D Marching Contest! We are excited to be your host for the day and aim to make this day as stress free as possible. Please read through the following information carefully. Every effort is being made to ensure a smooth- running, successful contest. The following is information you will need to know. Contest Locations Stadium- Rocket Field 500 W. Lyndale Ave. Robinson, TX 76706 Director/Band Check-in and Truck/Trailer Parking Robinson Junior High 410 W. Lyndale Ave. Robinson, TX 76706 Spectator Parking/Stadium Entrance Robinson High School 700 W. Tate St. Robinson, TX 76706 Bus/Truck/Trailer All buses/trucks/trailers will enter on W. Lyndale Avenue. At the 4-way stop, continue on W. Lyndale through the barricades and park at Robinson Junior High. Trucks and Trailers will continue a little further to the truck/trailer parking. All spectators will park at Robinson High School and enter through the main gate of the stadium. Please follow these guidelines for equipment unloading and truck/trailer parking. All equipment vehicles will park and unload in the parking lot closest to the stadium. Buses will park and unload in the Cafetorium parking lot at Robinson Junior High. The vehicles may stay parked in that area until the conclusion of the contest. Director/Band Check-in (from W. Lyndale Ave.) Upon arrival and parking, all groups will need to check-in at the check-in table. The check-in table will be located on the Cafetorium porch, located at the front of the bus parking lot. At check-in you will receive wristbands, meal tickets (if you purchase them) and any informational updates you might need. Please have all necessary forms and payment ready at check-in.

aftertheinitialpayment,theymayenterandexitfreely.Pleaseannouncetoyourparentsthatadmission
willbeCASHONLY.
RestroomsRestroomswillbeavailableinsideoftheRJHSCafetorium.Theserestroomsarenottobeusedas
changingfacilities.Thankyouinadvanceforaddressingthiswithyourband.
ConcessionsTheRobinsonBandBoosterswillrunafullconcessionstandforthedurationofthecontest.The
RobinsonBandBoostersarealsoofferingbothalunchanddinnerpackageforyouandyourband,should
youchoosetoparticipate.Yourpatronageisgreatlyappreciated.
WarmUpYouwillstageinthereadyarea5minutesbeforeyourassignedWarmUptimebegins.Abandwillbe
warmingupintheareaasyourbandarrives,thereforepleaseenterthisareaquietlywithnocadence.
Eachdirectorisresponsibleforenteringandexitingthewarmupareaattheappropriatetime.Pleasenotethetimesonyourschedule.Thewalkfromthewarmupareatotheperformancestagingareaisfairly
short.Regardless,youmustleavetheWarmUpareaatyourrespectivetimes.
MovingtoRocketFieldAsbandsexitwarmup,theywillproceeddownW.LyndaleAve.andenterthestadiumthroughtheNorth
side,Visitorentrance.Averyshortpartoftheterrainleadinguptothestadiumisgravel;pleaseplan
accordinglywithyourfrontensembleequipment.
WaterStationAwaterstationwillbeavailableasyouenterandexitthefield.Pleaseremindstudentstousethe
trashcansprovidedfortheirwatercups.Priorityforwaterwillbegiventothebandenteringthestadium
fortheirperformance.
FieldEntry/ExitFieldEntry-Allwinds/percussion/guardwillenterfromtheNorthendofthefield.Allenteringbands
willbestagedontheturfbythescoreboard.Stagingwillhappenwhiletheexitingband’s2minutefield
exitclockisrunning.
FieldExit-onceyourperformanceisfinished,bandswillexittothehomeside,andproceedallthewayto
thetrack.Exitingbandswillturntotheirright,continueonthetrackandexitoutthesamegatethey
enteredin.Exitingbandsmaybeheldinplaceinordertofacilitatetheentranceofthenextband.The
entranceoftheperformingbandtakesprecedenceovertheexitofthepreviousband.
FieldPowerPowerislocatedonthe50-yardlineonthetrack,onayellowextensioncord.Pleasefeelfreetousethis
asasourceofpower.
JudgesJudgeswillbelocatedontopofthepressbox(assumingniceweather).Remindstudentsthatthe
concessionstand,restrooms,andstagingareaarevisiblebythejudges.AsusualattheAreaMarching
contest,thereare3musicjudgesand2marchingjudges.2judgesfrommusicand2judgesfrom
marchingwillrotatecaptionsbetweenprelimsandfinals.

TimingAreaDwillbefollowingUILclockprotocolandrunningtheclockfromthestadiumscoreboard.Timing
penaltieswillbeassessedanddeterminedbyTonyClines,ExecutiveSecretaryofRegion8andAreaD
contestchairman.
Bandsmayusethe5-minutefieldentranceinanywaytheydeemappropriateinordertopreparefortheir
performance.Theannouncementofeachbandwilloccurwith45secondsremainingofthe5-minute
clock.Theactualtimingandadjudicationfortheshowwillbeginattheendofthe5-minutes.Theofficial
performanceclockwillcountdowncompletelythroughthe8-minuteallottedperformancetimeaswell
asthe2-mintuefieldexittime.Attheconclusionoftheperformancethepostscriptwillberead.Oncethe
2-minutefieldexitiscomplete,thefieldmustbeclearofallequipment,instruments,andprops.
VerificationandResultsResultswillbeannouncedattheconclusionofbothprelimsandfinals.Onedirectorfromeachbandwill
needtoverifyscoringandresultsbeforetheannouncementoccurs.Verificationwilloccuratthe
designatedlocationannounced.
SeatingofBandsOnceyourperformanceiscomplete,bandsmaybeseatedoneitherthehomesideorthevisitorside.
Pleasenote-inordertoaccommodateasmanybandsonthehomesideaspossible,pleaseseatyourband
ascompactlyasyoucan.
AnnouncementofAdvancingBandstoFinals/StateMarchingContestAdvancingbandswillbeannouncedattheendofprelimsforfinalsandattheendoffinalsfortheState
MarchingContest.Onedirectorfromeachperformingbandshouldreporttothedesignatedmeetingarea
attheconclusionofbothprelimsandfinals.
SpiritWearPepWearwillbepresentforthedurationofthecontest.Theirtrailerwillbelocatedbetweenthehome
sidestandsandtheconcessionstand.
ContestOfficeTheContestofficewillbeinthepressboxofthestadium.Thisisnotapublicarea.Onedirectorfromeachbandwillbecalledattheconclusionofbothprelimsandfinals.

IntheeventofinclementweatherduringtheMarchingContestatRobinsonHighSchoolandRocketField,
thefollowingproceduresshouldbefollowed:
1. TonyClinesorthecontesthostwilldeclarea“SevereWeatherDelay”andthecontestoperationswillcease.
2. Thetimewillbenoted.3. An“allcall”willgooutontheradiosandcellphonesadvisingconteststaffofaweatherdelay.4. Theannouncerwillannouncethatallbandsandspectatorsshouldseekcoverimmediatelyand
returntotheirbusesandvehicles.
5. Ifthereisabandonthefieldperforming,theywillbeallowedtofinishtheirperformancebeforereturningtotheirbusesorRobinsonJuniorHighSchool.
SevereWeatherorLighteningDelay
1. Bandsinthewarm-upareawillbegiventhechoiceofgoingintotheRobinsonJuniorHighCafetoriumorreturningtotheirbuses.
2. OncebandsreachtheCafetorium,theywillnotbeallowedtoplayorrehearse.3. Oncetheallclearifgiven,bandsandspectatorswillbegiventimetogetbackintoplace.4. Oncegroupshavereturnedtotheirplacea30minutewarm-upwillbeginandthecontestwill
proceed.
TornadoWarningorSevereThunderstormAcitivity1. Studentsinthewarm-upareaandeveryoneinthevicinityofthebusparkingwillbeaskedto
relocatetotheRobinsonJuniorHighSchoolCafetorium.Allcontestoperationswillberelocatedto
RobinsonHighSchool.
2. Anybandenroutefromwarm-uptothestadiumwillbedirectedbacktotheJuniorHighCafetorium.
3. Anybandperformingwillbeescortedtothefieldhouse.4. SpectatorsmayberelocatedtoRobinsonHighSchool.
