    When you walk into The

    Learning Experience

    Academy of Early

    Education at 1784 Hamburg

    Turnpike in Wayne, you instantly

get a sense being amongst family.

    The entire facility is immaculately

kept and a friendly face is there togreet you as you walk in the door.

    It instantly becomes obvious that

the people that built this center

put a lot of thought into creating

a facility that caters to a young

    childs every need.

    The Learning Experience is

able to accomplish this by giving

children the support they need to

    develop socially, physically and

emotionally in a safe and secure

environment. Programs like theircutting edge, proprietary L.E.A.P.

    (Learning Experience Academic

    Program) curriculum and Fun

with Phonics have nearly 90% of

    participating children reading by

    the time they enter kindergarten.

Other programs that are part of

    the everyday curriculum include

    sign language, technology (com-

    puters are provided in all

    classrooms for 2.5 years

    of age and above),

    L.E.A.P. into Spanish, philan-

    thropy, physical fitness and

    Manners Matter have children

    exercising not only their minds,

but their bodies as well. This well-

    rounded approach to

    early edu-

    cation

    of

    both

    the body

and mind hasmade The Learning Experience

    the leading innovators in the

    child care industry.

    In keeping with their inno-

    vative ways, The Learning

    Experience recently introduced

    their L.E.A.P. Interactive curricu-

lum. This next generation of cur-

    riculum has been specifically

    designed to enhance TLEs exist-

    ing L.E.A.P. curriculum by having

    children engage in cutting-edge,

touch technology on a large, inter-active screen. L.E.A.P lessons are

    supplemented with real-time

    videos and eye-opening destina-

tions that are shown on the inter-

    active board via Google Earth.

Children can reach out and touch

    these destinations and travel the

    world without ever leaving the

    classroom. This interactive tech-

nology also allows children to uti-

lize this high-tech means of educa-

tion to fill it, shape it, drawit, and spotlight it. The touch-

screen gives them the ability to

    learn hands-on rather than just

seeing it in a book or hearing

    Moving can be stress-

    ful. If the process of

    finding a new place

    to live wasnt difficult

enough, then the task of get-

    ting everything packed and

    out of your current residence

on time is sure to complicate

    matters.

    For pet owners, the mov-

ing process can be even moredifficult. Renters often find

the rental market is less than

    enthusiastic about pets, and

    even landlords who allow pets

    might require a larger security

    deposit. But once that deposit

has been made, it is time to

move, a process that can be

    difficult for renters and buyers

alike. Pets are often averse to

    change, and few changes are

as significant as changing res-idences. But there are ways

    that pet owners can make

    moving easier on themselves

    and their pets.

    Spread things out.

    Sudden changes can increase

    pets anxiety levels, which

    can alter their behavior.

    When getting ready to move,

    spread things like packing out

    over time, gradually packing

    items away so pets wont

panic as their environmentchanges. Avoid packing pets

    comfort items, such as bed-

ding and toys, until the last

    minute.

    Arrange for travel well

in advance of your move. If

    youre moving relatively close

by, then your trip to your new

home may be no different for

a pet than a standard road

    trip. In such instances, pack

toys and snacks in the car tokeep your pet occupied

    throughout the trip.

If flying will be a part of

    your move, then arrange for

    travel as soon as possible.

    Doing so increases the

chances you can get a non-

stop flight, which will be eas-

ier on you and especially your

pet, which wont be as used to

the changes in air pressure on

an airplane as his or her own-

ers are. Flying can be uncom-fortable for pets no matter

    how considerate an airline is,

so limit your move to a single

    nonstop flight when possible.

    Stick to your routine.

    Pets thrive with routine, so

while the days leading up to a

move can be hectic, stick to

your pets routine as much as

    possible. This includes feed-

    ing times, morning and

evening walks and even thetime you set aside for play

    each day. If problems arise

    with your mood, dont allow

your pet to see you lose your

    temper or succumb to stress,

as this can cause a spike in

    pets anxiety levels that can

    make the move more difficult.

    Give pets their own spot

    on moving day. Moving day

    can be hectic, especially

    when pet owners hire profes-

sional movers. It can be diffi-cult for pets to adjust to

    strangers in a home, and

movers will be in and out of

your home all day on moving

day. Designate a room in your

house for your pet, and make

sure the movers know not to

    enter that room. Place feed-

    ing dishes, water bowls and

toys in the room so pets can

    eat drink and remain occu-

pied until the time comes toleave the house. On a nice

    day, consider letting the dogs

    play in a fenced-

    in yard or use a

    tree lead that

allows pets to play in the yard

    without the freedom to run

    away.

    Visit the veterinarian

    before making your trip. Pet

    owners should take their pet

    to the veterinarian one last

time before moving. Ask forthe animals health records,

    including documentation of

    its vaccination history as well

as any past illnesses or condi-

    tions the pet might have

    experienced. The vet visit is

also a good time to get the

    animal one last checkup so

the vet can ensure that the pet

    is healthy enough to travel.

    When visiting the vet,

discuss any past travel issuesyour pet might have had. In

some cases, the vet might pre-

    scribe an anti-anxiety med-

ication if the pet has a history

    of anxiety when traveling.

    When getting ready to

    move, pet owners should take

    all the necessary precautions

to ensure their pet has a safe

    and comfortable move.

    Do you know what

    income is taxable

    and what income is

not taxable? Generally, allincome earned anywhere in

    the world is taxable unless

    the law specifically excludes

    it. That includes cash and

    non-cash receipts from

    sources such as bartering, dis-

    charge of debts, and illegal

    activities.

    Theres no reference to

    amount in determining

    whats taxable and what isnt.

So, although you might notget an information form for

    amounts under specified lim-

    its the familiar $600 figure

    for Form 1099-MISC, for

example that income isreportable on your tax return.

    Despite the broad nature

    of the term, not everything

    you receive is considered

    income. For instance,

    rebates, refunds, and pur-

    chase price adjustments are

    specifically excluded. Child

    support payments, welfare

    benefits, damage awards for

    physical injury or sickness,

and reimbursements for qual-ified adoption expenses are

    also excluded from income.

    Gifts, inheritances, and pro-

    ceeds from life insurance

    policies are other familiar

    exclusions.

    However, in contrast to

    the definition of income,

    exclusions tend to be narrow-

    ly defined. For example,

    while proceeds from life

insurance policies are gener-ally not taxable to you as a

    beneficiary, interest earned

    on the proceeds typically is.

    Also, though income from a

scholarship is normally nottaxable, amounts used for

    room and board, rather than

    tuition and books, are tax-

    able.

Give us a call if you

    have questions about the tax

    effect of various kinds of

    income received during 2014.

    ome celebrities, like

    Lauren Hutton,

Madonna, and ArnoldSchwarzenegger, see the gap

    between their front teeth

(known as a diastema) as part

of their unique style. But out-

    side Hollywood its unusual for

people to want to keep their

    diastemas, according to the

    American Academy of Cos-

    metic dentistry. They say their

    patients with diastemas report

    feelings of lower self-confi-

    dence.Studies have shown that

people create an opinion of a

person based on his or her

    appearance within the first few

    moments of meeting them,

    said Ron Goodlin, DDS,

    AACD president. When 100

people at a mall were shown a

    photo of someone with a

    diastema compared to someone

    without and asked to describe

that person, they most oftendescribed the person as being of

    a lower socioeconomic status,

not as smart and not as attrac-

    Closing a diastema can be

    achieved several different ways

Circa 1996. I was in St.

    Louis for a newspaper

    convention. It was

one of those tiring trips with a

full night of activities to ramp

up for. I checked into the

    hotel and headed for my

room. I could not wait to lay

down on the bed and grab a

    quick snooze before I needed

to get cleaned up for the

    evening.

I put the key in the door,

opened it and much like the

    three little bears, I found

    someone sleeping in my bed!

The guy woke up startled (I

guess he thought I was gonna

roll him!). I hightailed it out

of there as quickly as I could.

Turns out they gave me the wrong roombut as far as I

was concerned I was in the

right place because I had the

key. In actuality, I was in the

    wrong place at the wrong

    time!

    Maybe this scenario is all

too familiar to you. And to

    make things worse, it keeps

    happening to you because you

continue to go to the wrong

    place at the wrong time.

thing over and over again and

    expecting different results.

    Think about it

    A man goes down the

street and falls in a hole, gets

out dusts himself off. The next

day the man goes down that

same street and, aware of the

hole, tries go around it, but

once again falls in it. The next

day the man walks down a dif-

    ferent street.

    What wrong place do

you keep going to that contin-

    ues to produce poor results?

    What would happen if you

    stopped going there and

    changed course?

    Maybe a different street

    would work well today. What

    do you think?

I think I have ticks in my yard, but I never see any deer, are these ticks dangerous?

75% of all Lyme Disease victims are infected by ticks on their ownproperty. If you have mice, rabbits, squirrels, cats or any other smallmammals in your yard, then you have ticks on your property.

    For More Information Visit

    GoOrganicLawnCare.com

    Q.

    TO USE

    i|xA recently published report claims

that 75% of all Lyme Disease patients

in New Jersey contract the disease

from ticks on their own property.

Although most people think that they get Lyme

Disease from ticks carried by deer, the reality is

that ticks carried by mice, chipmunks, squirrels,

rabbits and other small animals are just as likely to

carry Lyme Disease. So, even if you never see

deer on your property you will have ticks, and

unfortunately those ticks can carry Lyme Disease.

Lyme Disease is not the only disease carried

by ticks in our area. Ticks carry five potentially

fatal diseases in addtition to Lyme Disease. For the

safety of your family, you want to keep ticks off of

    your property.

Fortunately there is a safe way to protect

your family and pets from the dangers of ticks

on your property. Go Organic Lawn Care in

Oakland, NJ offers a 100% safe, effective, organic

way to kill ticks, fleas and other harmful insects

on your property. Go Organic uses a cedar

based product that is perfectly safe for people

and pets but is deadly for fleas, ticks and other

pests. Your kids can play in the yard 20 - 30

minutes after the application (we only recom-

mend you let the liquid based product dry). Not

only does the treatment kill fleas and ticks on

contact it also repels them for 4-6 weeks so fleas

and ticks wont come on to your property.

Other insects that are repelled by the treatment

    include termites, mosquitos and moths.
