2019 JUPAS (HKDSE) Admissions Figures For applicants who have fulfilled the minimum entrance requirements, admission scores are calculated based on their HKDSE results and subject weightings for selection purposes. The information provided here is the HKDSE examination results of offered applicants in the JUPAS main round. Students admitted through non-academic achievements schemes are excluded. Please note that the figures provided below are for reference only since the HKDSE results of students admitted to each programme vary from year to year. Explanatory Notes on the Calculation of Average HKDSE Scores • Starting from 2017-18, one of the following mechanisms is adopted for calculating the average HKDSE

scores for Bachelor’s Degree programmes:

o Any Best 5 Subjects: The "best" 5 HKDSE subjects will be taken into account.

o Chinese & English Languages + Any Best 3 Subjects: Chinese Language and English Language, plus any 3 "best" subjects will be taken into account.

o Any Best 6 Subjects: The "best" 6 HKDSE subjects will be taken into account.

o 4 Core + Best 2 Elective Subjects: The 4 core subjects including Chinese Language, English

Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies, plus 2 "best" elective subjects will be taken into account.

• For Higher Diploma programmes, the Chinese & English Languages + Any Best 3 Subjects mechanism

is used. The average HKDSE score point total of admittees is calculated based on their results in Chinese, English and 3 other subjects which have the best results.

When calculating the average HKDSE scores, subject weighting is not applied and HKDSE level attainments are converted to level points as follows:

o Core and Elective Subjects (for 2019-20 and before)

5** = 7, 5* = 6, 5 = 5, 4 = 4, 3 = 3, 2 = 2, 1 = 1 and Unclassified = 0 Core and Elective Subjects (for 2020-21 and after) 5** = 8.5, 5* = 7, 5 = 5.5, 4 = 4, 3 = 3, 2 = 2, 1 = 1 and Unclassified = 0

o Applied Learning Subjects:

Attained with Distinction (II) (accepted as Level 4 at HKDSE) = 4, Attained with Distinction / Attained with Distinction (I) (accepted as Level 3 at HKDSE) = 3, Attained = 0 (applicable to Bachelor’s Degree programmes only), Attained (accepted as Level 2 at HKDSE) = 2 (applicable to Higher Diploma programmes only)

o Other Languages:

A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1, Others = 0
