The admission scores shown on this webpage are applicable to local students only. For applicants who have fulfilled the minimum entrance requirements, admission scores are calculated for selection purposes. The information contained here is based on the admission scores (with weightings applied where appropriate) of applicants who have received offers in the Main Round of the JUPAS admission exercise. Students admitted through special routes (e.g. Other Experiences and Achievements in Competitions/Activities, School Principal's Nomination Scheme, sports talents, applicants with disabilities and the Home Affairs Bureau Multi-Faceted Excellence Scholarship) and non-local students are not included. Students are reminded that score weightings and calculations may vary each year. As different weightings are used, admission scores are not comparable across programmes or admission years. The median and lower quartile scores are for reference only and should not be used to predict the likelihood of admission. The selection criteria vary each year, and many types of score are used in the selection process. Selection Criteria

We adopt a holistic approach in the assessment of applicants' suitability for teacher education and

other complementary discipline programmes. In selecting students for our full-time undergraduate

and higher diploma programmes, we take into account their public examination results, band

choices, non-academic achievements, school principal's recommendations and interview

performance etc. For entry to the specific programmes like Chinese, English, Mathematics, Music,

Physical Education and Visual Arts, applicants have to demonstrate a required level of

competence in the subject area.

Students nominated under the JUPAS School Principal's Nominations Scheme (SPN) and the

University's Undergraduate Programme Nominations Scheme / Self-Nomination Admissions

Scheme will be considered favourably with good school reference reports and interview

performance.

HKDSE Admission Scores

Bachelor's Degree / Higher Diploma Programmes

The HKDSE admission scores are the sum total of the level/grade values of the best five HKDSE

subjects, regardless of they are core or elective subjects.

Explanatory Notes on the Calculation of Average HKDSE Scores Starting from 2017-18, one of the following mechanisms is adopted for calculating the average HKDSE

scores for Bachelor’s Degree programmes:

o Any Best 5 Subjects: The "best" 5 HKDSE subjects will be taken into account.

o Chinese & English Languages + Any Best 3 Subjects: Chinese Language and English Language, plus any 3 "best" subjects will be taken into account.

o Any Best 6 Subjects: The "best" 6 HKDSE subjects will be taken into account.

o 4 Core + Best 2 Elective Subjects: The 4 core subjects including Chinese Language, English Language,

Mathematics and Liberal Studies, plus 2 "best" elective subjects will be taken into account.

For Higher Diploma programmes, the Chinese & English Languages + Any Best 3 Subjects mechanism is used. The average HKDSE score point total of admittees is calculated based on their results in Chinese, English and 3 other subjects which have the best results.

When calculating the average HKDSE scores, subject weighting is not applied and HKDSE level attainments are converted to level points as follows:

o Core and Elective Subjects 5** = 7, 5* = 6, 5 = 5, 4 = 4, 3 = 3, 2 = 2, 1 = 1 and Unclassified = 0 o Applied Learning Subjects:

Attained with Distinction (II) (accepted as Level 4 at HKDSE) = 4,

Attained with Distinction / Attained with Distinction (I) (accepted as Level 3 at HKDSE) = 3,

Score is computed by multiplying the converted points (Level 2 = 2 points, Level 3 = 3 points, Level 4 = 4

points, Level 5/5*/5** = 5/6/7 points) of each of the 4 Core subjects and 1 Elective subject in HKDSE by the

respective subject weighting as stipulated by the programme concerned, and then adding the products of

each of the 5 subjects together.

^ The admission score is normally calculated based on the converted points of the 4 core subjects and 1

elective subject for all programmes except JS9580. For JS9580, the admission score is calculated based on

the best 5 subjects. For all programmes, students should normally have met the general entrance

requirements of the University, i.e. attaining in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)

Examination results of

Chinese: Level 3 or above

English: Level 3 or above

Mathematics: Level 2 or above

Liberal Studies: Level 2 or above

An elective subject: Level 2 or above
