1 LSM- International Business (IB) Description folder – Students’ group 2015-2017 IB Program’s objectives This program offers 25 selected students the opportunity to become international intrapreneurs, undertaking initiatives within an organization and transforming ideas into management success. It offers one year abroad: 4 months of academic exchange in a partner university, and 6 months internship within an international SME, multinational or NGO outside Europe. Partners for the academic exchange Thanks to its worldwide network, Louvain School of Management offers a wide panel of international opportunities and allows students to discover other academic, cultural and social realities. Internships outside Europe Internships are proposed in Asia, North and South America, Africa. Internship missions cover issues such as business development, financial control, marketing, human resources, supply chain management, etc. These missions are usually proposed by partner organizations and should let room for students’ initiatives. Spending 6 months within an international context represents a rich management learning process “on the field” (experiential learning). During the internship, students benefit from a strong support from the company and LSM: a meeting at least twice a month with a corporate supervisor, and a structured online coaching by an academic supervisor. Students also develop their knowledge by sharing online their experience with other students. Our experience shows that the internship’s length allows brilliant students to be considered as real managers and international intrapreneurs, who are able to adapt and bring concrete improvements for an organization. Therefore, students develop a strong and valuable experience. A differentiating feature of IB internship is the opportunity that students have to implement an intrapreneurial initiative (or project) aiming at value creation within their company/organization during the internship. Students have thus to discover, evaluate and exploit an opportunity for their organization. Once presented and approved by their corporate supervisor, students are expected to implement their own innovative project, behaving as real international intrapreneurs for business. Although not an exhaustive list, some examples of past students’ initiatives include: - Developing of a knowledge management system for a wine wholesaler in Argentina - Structuring an NGO around a clear organizational chart in Vietnam
