Established in 2010 under the National support programme for Latvia Competence Centers by funding of ERAF.
The aim of the programme is increasing competitiveness of businesses by facilitating cooperation of research and industry sectors in implementation of projects for industrial research, development of new products and technologies.
In Latvia is established 6 competence centers, involving about 80 enterprises and 20 research organizations.
The council of CC do the expertize of announced projects of enterprises as participants of CC.
The competence centers (CC) carry out announced and accepted projects.
Popularize this program to involve more enterprises in projects. In such way is promoted the development of industry related to CC.
Open to innovative projects from all industry related to CC.
Environment , Bioenergetics and Biotechnology Competence centre (CCEBB) consolidate 35enterprises and 6 research institutions in 66 projects in following directions:

◦ Bioenergetics (4)
◦ Environmental protection (14)
◦ Chemical proceeding of biomass (1)
◦ Nanotechnology (13)

1. The research corresponds one of the directions of CCEBB;
2. Potential know-how from research is evaluated as essential for branch;
3. The costs of research is economically justified;
4. Enterprise undertake to carry out the financing of announced project in full amount. ERAF funding is paid only after confirming of project report.
In the period 2011 - 2014:
- were finished 38 projects;
- are involved 25 new enterprises in the projects; .
- is created more as 250 working places; .
- are realized the projects in the amount of 8,36 milj. EUR ( ERAF funding – 5,86 milj. EUR, private financing – 2,5 milj. EUR).
1.The manufacturing of protein enriched yeast using lactose as waste from whey processing;
2. The using model based control in fermentations;
3. The treatment of waste water of pharmacy industry using microbial cultivation;
4. Innovative glass manufacturing (both technology and equipment).
1.Both organizations have many common membersand take activities in the same directions, but with different goal.
2. CleanTech promotes the export, but CC the development of competitive products and services.
