Our feelings about moving the Thundersprint to Anglesey can be summed up with one anecdote. It was February and we were stood at the highest point of track, overlooking the paddock, with one of our key traders. The wind was screaming in from the Arctic and the snow was being blown horizontal. I looked out over the fantastic track snaking through the blizzard, across the whitecaps of Caernarvon Bay and on to snow-capped Snowdonia – and I knew that this was one of the great motorsport venues in the world. In the middle of winter, hunched up against the gale and freezing cold it was fantastic and, in the Spring sun I knew it was going to be out of this world.Not only is the track fantastic but the welcome we have been given by Trac Môn, the Anglesey Circuit, and the people of Anglesey has been unbelievable. Everywhere we have been there have been smiles and thanks for bringing the Thundersprint to the island.The Thundersprint has changed in that we no longer have a town centre venue but it is still very much the same Thundersprint as every other one. The paddock is completely open with no “Keep Out” or “VIP” areas and Mum, Dad, the kids and the family dog are just as welcome as hard core race fans riding the latest Superbikes. This is the great joy of the Thundersprint – fantastic track action but with a welcome for the whole community. Continued on page 2...

Thanks Jess, and all your colleagues.And what track action there will be! Heading the all-star line-up is six times World Champion Jim Redman and his long-time friend, and European Champion, Sammy Miller. Their list of race victories would fill the whole of Anglesey’s 2.1 mile track and probably the paddock too!At the other end of the age range is Milwaukee Yamaha team leader James Ellison, who literally does have every t-shirt from British Superbike to World Superbike and MotoGP. On the track, James is a ferocious competitor but meet him the paddock and you will never find a more courteous and helpful rider.Backing up these Galácticos are over 200 riders taking part in the Thundersprint Hillclimb and lunch-time Cavalcade with everything from pre-War Grand Prix bikes to the very latest 2013 Superbikes. Nowhere else in the world will you be able to see such a wide range of bikes in action in any one place. It’s going to be fantastic.Away from the track there’s lots to do for the kids, a Fine Food area and of course a new super duper Thundersprint mega star – Rolo, the world’s most intelligent sheep. If you have never met a sheep with a brain which would qualify her for University Challenge, make sure that you go across for a chat with Rolo.Although Carol and I are the public face of the Thundersprint the event can only happen with the support of our brilliant staff and colleagues so special thanks to Colin, Martin, David, Wayne and “The Voice of the Thundersprint”, Garry Gardiner. Without them we wouldn’t have an event.Finally, a special – a very special – thanks to all of the Anglesey Circuit staff. Everyone has worked incredibly hard to ensure that this year’s Thundersprint will be the best ever.So, thank you for joining us at what we hope will be the first of many Thundersprints in Anglesey and have a great day.
