    What is Thermography?

All objects above absolute zero (-273C) emit infrared

    energy.

Thermal Imaging Cameras are able to visualize this energyand calibrate it so that surface temperatures can bemeasured and changes in surface temperature can beobserved.

Experienced Thermographers with high resolutionequipment are able to observe, capture and analyze thesechanges and are then able to identify and report defects or

anomalies before breakdown or further damage occurs.

    What is Thermography?

Nearly everything heats up before it breaks down

A loose electrical connection.A bearing in a motor.

Your temperature rises if you are ill.

    SOLAS Compliance

SOLAS Ch.11-2, Regulation 15.2.10 States That:

All surfaces above 220C are to be insulated or otherwiseprotected in order to avoid ignition of flammable fluids.

Common Misconceptions & The Need to Train

    Things we hear regularly:

You can see through panelsIt doesnt have to be done liveWe cant get our camera to do that

08:00 I dont see the point in this12:00 I wish we had done this earlier!

How Everyday Thermography Affects The Bottom Line

    Cost Avoidance:

Electrical Burnouts & Capital Replacement CostsOnly Insulate / Protect Localised AreasSpeed up Fault Finding

    Late Arrival / Departure

    Lower Insurance Premiums

    Additional Benefits.
