Август е најжешкиот летен месец, и како таков месец за годишни одмори. И во доменот на енергетикаа не се случија посебни спектакуларни работи, посебно во делот на Енергетската Ефикасност. Но тоа не значи дека немаше подготвителни работи кои гарантираат извонреда енергетска есен. Завршниот Извештај за Скопската термоцентрала-топлана од 200 MW беше предадена на Министерствот за Економија на 13 август,точно на време. Се очекува избор на консултант за подготовка на тендерската документација и изборот на стратешкиот партнер за градба на овој стратешки објект во Македонија. Членовите на МАЦЕФ интензивно работат на реализацијата на студијата од областа на енергетската ефикасност и екологијата, финасирана преку Фондот за екологија. Пријавени се две теми кои конкурираат за финасирање преку локалната канцеларија на РЕЦ со можност за финансирање до 10 000 евра. Краен рок беше 31 август. Рокот за завршување на студијата е скусен и заради итност на предвидената проблематика, се захтева да се заврши до крајот на оваа година. Ангажирани се тимови од членовите на МАЦЕФ кои претставуваат комбинација на експерти (доктори на науки и академици) заедно со инженери почетници во својата струка. Тимовите се сотавени од членови на МАЦЕФ од Машинскиот факултет во Скопје, Техничкиот факултет од Битола, Макпетрол и Клиничкиот Центар во Скопје. Во рамките на меѓународната соработка, тричлена делегација на МАЦЕФ учествуваше на меѓународниот ФОРУМ за користење на минералните води во градот Баишра, провинција Јилинг, Кина. Презентацијата на Македонските можности пред учесниците од 16 земји и 500 делегати, предизвика посебен интерес. Посебни контакти и можност за соработка се оствари со државната делегација на Монголија. На јавниот повик на Регионалниот Еколошки Центар за пријавување на теми за финансирање со основна тематика градење на капацитетите на НВО за одржлив развој на општеството, МАЦЕФ пријави две теми и тоа:

DOE Proposes New Efficiency Standards for Energy Equipment DOE announced last week that it is proposing new energy efficiency standards for residential furnaces and boilers, commercial air condi-tioners and heat pumps, and the transformers that utilities use in their electrical distribution systems. Compared to the total U.S. energy use of about 97 quadrillion Btus (quads), residential furna-ces and boilers use 4.6 quads, commercial air conditioners and heat pumps use 0.7 quads, and distribution transformers use 1.6 quads. By 2035, the proposed standards could yield cumulative energy sa-vings of up to 9.13 quads in residential furnaces and boilers, up to 2.17 quads in commercial air conditioners and heat pumps, and up to 16.05 quads in distribution transformers. EPA, GSA, and World Bank Seek to Buy Renewable Energy Credits Government agencies are finding the purchase of renewable energy credits (RECs) to be a simple way to meet their goals to purchase renewable energy. In recent weeks, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), and the World Bank Group (an agency of the United Nations) have sought to buy as much as 272,000 megawatt-hours per year of RECs to supply their facilities. To generate that much renewable power would require a 100-megawatt wind power plant operating at about 30 percent capacity.
Renewable Energy Certificates The World Bank is encouraging Bosnia and Herzegovina to promote renewable energy through certificate programs or greenhouse gas reduction projects. At a renewable energy conference in Sarajevo on Tuesday, the Southeast European Enterprise Development (SEED) Program of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) announced launch of a new program to provide support to compa-nies and institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina in switching to re-newable energy sources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reported the Federal News Agency of Bosnia andHerzegovina. After Bulgaria shuts down its nuclear power plants before joining the EU, Bosnia and Herzegovina will remain the onlynet exporter of electricity in South Eastern Europe.

Back on Nuclear Track Sofia has announced that it would resume the construction of a nuclear plant in Belene, near the Romanian border. This would be the second in the country after closures required by EU accession talks. After more than a decade of hesitations and protests, the Bul-garian government has announced that it would resume the cons-truction of a nuclear plant in Belene, on the river Danube north of the country. The project had been stalled in 1990 due to a lack of cash and protests from environmentalists and Romania. Calls for tenders are expected soon and construction should start before the end of the year. The state will hold at least 51 % in Bulgaria's second nuclear power plant, the energy minister has said. Around two billion levs are expected to be absorbed into the building of the plant. (Source: www.novinite.com ) General Electric Eyes Plovdiv General Electric of the U.S. is interested in the construction of com-bined-cycle capacity on the sites of the Plovdiv and Shumen district heating utilities, the Bulgarian energy ministry said after minister Milko Kovachev met with GE executives last week. GE is mulling financial support for the construction of a 25MW co-generation ca-pacity on the site of the Plovdiv-South heating plant which currently runs on natural gas and fuel oil. The interest of the U.S. Company was confirmed by utility executive director Mirko Ugrinov who said that GE is already conducting a feasibility study. The official said the idea was to position the Plovdiv utility on the market for CO2 emission reductions. A similar scheme is being considered for the Shumen heating company which could get a 5MW co-generation module.
