daughter Dina. Itinerant Studio is located in

a historic industrial building in Downtown

Springfield, which they purchased

with a vision to contribute to the cultural

Chrysler Building by Mike Major

embossed and hand cut (three layers),

The Chrysler Building embossing was

created as part of Mike’s Masters degree

work at Pratt Institute in New York. This

was a time when his interest in 2-D work

was moving toward 3-D work that would

eventually lead to bronze sculpture.

As a life-long student of architectural

design, Mike finds this particular building

particularly fascinating as it continues

to stand out among so many NYC

skyscrapers. He says, “Personally this

piece represents the inspiration gained

during the period when Jane and I lived in

New York.”

All the tiles are handcrafted in USA. This delicate stylized

design of waterlilies, common in the tranquil ponds of the

Midwest, is adapted from Frank Lloyd Wright’s drawing

“Waterlilies”, which is thought to be designed for an art glass

screen in 1895 but never produced.
