Introduction This report presents the
telecommunication project on Physics and Technology.
My name is Jeanne Umanskaya. I am a teacher of Physics, Astronomy and
Technology in the Moscow ORT Technology School ( Russia).
I am a initiator, organizer and manager of this project

I present the group work of students, teachers and educators of the schools and centers of ORT Russia and CIS.

World ORT It is important to notice that our work would
have not been possible without technical and financial support of the World ORT. This support gives teachers the chance to implement latest innovative ideas, which makes ORT schools the best of the best.

General Goals
We must teach our students to live and survive in this difficult world so that they can be competitive on a labour market, successful in career making, contributing members of society and can lead their lives with dignity

To reach these goals we need:
To develop students’ competence in cognitive activity;
To develop students’ skills in conducting a research process,
To develop students’ skills in self-guided learning, To develop skills in critical thinking, To develop skills in team work, To set up an on-line ORT students community of e-
learners (second stage).

Project-based learning + I-net =Telecommunication project
There are different educational technology to achieve the abovementioned goals. . But we think what one of the best is Internet-assisted project -based learning.
Telecommunication project is a collaboration of students, teachers, technical support team, in developing new experience and knowledge, mastering skills in different kinds of cognitive activities (research, role games, creative actions, case studies). Thes activities incorporates:
cooperate learning Internet application the research contains a problem, which is personally important for
every team member the research work has accurately negotiated and defined goals,
tasks and research methods the project implies practical results.

- 10 group (more than 30 students) from 5 centers and schools of ORT CIS;
- 15 teachers and employees from 10 centers. Communication:

November 2004 – May 2005.

Planning resultsWorking on the project the student was to give the
answers to the following questions: What is energy needed for there? What are especially there in each proposing
situation? What resources of the energy have people in this
conditions? What energy producing devices are the best in that
location? How do they work? What fuel is needed? How much fuel is needed? What food and clothes do people need in this or that
situation?
Students were supposed to illustrate their works with photos, pictures, schemes.

All participants of the forum may: read and white texts in old themes, add new themes for discussion, attach tables, charts and pictures, organize interrogate, add self image-picture (avatar)

The referee was chosen from the centers which do not participate in our project.
The groups located their project materials in the forum.
The referee can ask students any questions in the forum.
The students answer them in the forum. The referee chooses the best group!

What next? Telecommunication project became
a fact of the live in the ORT-space.
We hope our product will get over difficulties and will go on next year.
We hope it will go out of ORT-CIS space and will become world project.
