CHAPTER V.
CONCLUSIONS
● The Qualitative method is considered the most appropriate method to
develop research projects in the English area, because Education is part of
Social Sciences.
● There are a lot of data that explain the Qualitative research method,
techniques, approaches, historical articles researches, and documents that
support the application of this research method can be found.
● The qualitative and the quantitative methods can be combined . This
combination is accepted because one method supports the weaknesses of
the other one. Even though the development of an investigation is
qualitative it can be quantitative in a minimum degree.
● The methodological process to develop Qualitative research can be
sumarized in this way:
- Generally, it does not have any design.
- It is flexible, the specif characteristics of the approach evolve as they
operate.
- Get to the field without hypothesis or specific preconcepts.
- Keep in mind some general questions.
- There are two types of questions: substantial and methodological.
a) Substantial questions are refered to specific problems of a
particular environment. A hospital, a community,...
b) Theorethical questions are the ones that come from the
theory.
RECOMMEMDATIONS
● Train undergraduate students and thesis advisors to get acquainted with
Qualitative research.
● Procedures about the Qualitative research should be taught during the
methodological training.
● Provide examples about the Qualitative research during the development of
the methodological training to undergraduate students in order to get
information about the method.
● It is necessary that the School of Art and Sciences have research English
advisors to develop the methodological training process in order to provide a
better orientation about the Qualitative research method ,relevant topics
and proposals in the English field.
● The School of Art and Sciences School should provide a list of some
research topics to undergraduate students of the bacherol degree in
English. These research topics should be focused particularly on proposals
aimming to the development of the Universidad de Oriente.
● Suggested topics to be researched by using the Qualitative method:
1. A proposal for the development of an educational academic program
to provide techniques about translating methods from English/
Spanish and Spanish/English.
2 . A Qualitative case study about the integration of Educational
technology at Universidad de Oriente.
3. An exploratory study of self assessment in the process of learning
English as a second language in students majoring in English.
4. Development of a modified method for reducing accent in non-native
speakers of the English Language.
5. A profound study of English phonemes and their proper application in
the process of teaching and learning English as a second language.
