1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 5 years successful experience manufacturing similar products.

1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Dock Seals are an economical way of forming an air tight seal between the building and the trailer. Adjustable curtains are available for opening heights of up to 10 feet (3048 mm) high or where trucks vary in height. Increased abrasion resistance can be achieved by the addition of upgraded materials or with wear plates. Delete if not required.

2.2 DOCK SEALS** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Series 0101 Stationary Dock Seal is the most economical method of forming an air-tight seal between the building and the trailer. For opening where the vehicles are generally of a standard size. Delete if not required.

A. Product: Dock door seal shall be Model 0101 as manufactured by Super Seal Mfg. Ltd.** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Can be fitted for openings up to 9 feet W by 9 feet H (2743 mm by 2743 mm). 6 inches (152 mm) maximum pad projection in front of the dock bumper face is recommended to prevent over compression, excessive wear and tear and undue building wall pressure.

1. Application: Seals trailers 12 feet to 13 feet H (3048 mm to 3962 mm) from grade with a dock height of 48 inches (1219 mm).

2. Assembly: Dimensions for door openings 8 feet W x 8 feet H (2438 mm by 2438 mm) shall have two 8 feet H (2438 mm) vertical pads and one 10 feet (3048 mm) long head pad with 12 inches (305 mm) face. Openings up to 9 feet W by 9 feet H (2743 mm by 2743 mm) by the use of wedge shaped vertical and extended head pads. Unit projection shall be 10 inches (254 mm).

3. Construction: Kiln-dried pressurized wood, and a high density light weight urethane foam core with 98% compression recovery and maintaining flexibility at -40 degrees F (-38 degree C). The foam core shall be continuously bonded (not spot glued) to the wood backing with a high quality non-flammable elastic adhesive. Foam pads are vented through brass plated grommets allowing air to be exhausted and moisture to drain when pads are compressed. Vertical pads are tapered cut at the bottom to prevent sagging, pinching, and wearing when compressed. Unit shall be furnished with required mounting hardware, galvanized to resist corrosion.

Unlike the regular curtain type, the foam pad inserted into the curtain provides a tight compressible seal at the top of the trailer. Delete if not required.

Vertical pads shall have a 24 inches (610 mm) high by 4 inches (102 mm) wide yellow guide strip to aid in spotting trailers. Assembly shall have a matching full width curtain over vertical pads. A full width steel tube shall be inserted into a pocket of the head curtain to prevent sagging. The insulated head curtain shall have a urethane foam pad wrapped in a polyethylene sleeve and inserted into a specially constructed pocket on the face of the curtain. Unit shall be furnished with required mounting hardware, galvanized to resist corrosion.

2. Assembly: Dimensions for door openings 8 feet W by 10 feet H (2438 mm by 3048 mm) shall have two 10 feet H (3048 mm) vertical pads with a 12 inches (305 mm) face, cube shaped and one 10 feet (3048 mm) long by 36 inches (914 mm) drop head curtain. The head pad is lowered against the trailer by means of 2 pull chains. The header automatically raises to the up position once released. A galvanized steel header assembly cover is provided to enclose the roller and torsion spring assembly. Openings up to 9 feet W by 12 feet H (2743 mm by 3658 mm) by the use of a longer follower curtain. Unit projection shall be 10 inches (254 mm). 4 inches to 6 inches (102 mm to 152 mm) pad projection in front of the dock bumper is recommended.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Stationary Dock Shelters provide an air tight passage way from the loading dock to the truck. These shelters are ideally suited where doorways are larger in size. These shelters differ from compression type seals as they form a seal even if a truck is not positioned properly at the dock. Delete if not required.

2.3 TRUCK SHELTERS** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Series 0401 Stationary Truck Shelter offers the all around seal for varying trailer heights and widths. Delete if not required.

A. Truck Shelters: 0401 Stationary Truck Shelter as manufactured by Super Seal Mfg. Ltd.1. Application: With a dock height of 48 inches (1219 mm) the 0401 seals trailers from

11.5 feet to 13.5 feet (3505 mm to 4115 mm) high from grade. Also seals trailers with width from 8 feet (2438 mm) W.

2. Assembly: Dimensions for door openings up to 11 feet w by 10 feet h (3353 mm by 3048 mm) are 11.5 feet w by 11 feet h (3505 mm by 3353 mm) by 24 inches (610 mm) projection with 21 inches (533 mm) wide vertical panels and a 36 inches (914 mm) drop header panel.

3. Construction: Unit framework to be constructed of 1-1/2 inches by 1-1/2 inches (38 mm by 38 mm) galvanized steel tubing covered with galvanized sheet cladding. The header framework shall be peaked to allow adequate drainage. The vertical panel shall contain fiberglass stays, the top three being a "Z" pattern to keep the curtain straight at all times. Vertical panels shall have a double layer of fabric at the leading edge impact area and 4 inches wide by 14 inches high (102 mm by 356 mm) yellow guide stripe to aid in spotting shelters. The header panel shall have full height fiberglass stays and overlapping protective flaps at trailer impact areas. The header panel shall have elastic wind straps to keep the panel in position. Stays shall be enclosed in multi-layer reinforcement pockets. Leading edge of vertical and header panels shall have a sewn in foam bead for a tight seal. Double stitched, high strength twisted 4 ply 100% polyester boned thread, U.V. treated shall be used for sewing. All exterior front frame edge shall be trimmed with aluminum angle to provide a neat, clean finish. Unit shall be furnished with required mounting hardware, galvanized to resist corrosion. 18 inches to 20 inches (457 mm to 508 mm) projection in front of the dock bumper is recommended to provide a proper seal.

This design allows for complete and unobstructed access to the trailer interior. For openings up to 10 feet w by 10 feet h (3048 mm by 3048 mm). Delete if not required.

B. Truck Shelters: 0501 Stationary Truck Shelter as manufactured by Super Seal Mfg. Ltd.1. Application: Designed to retract upon impact. Collapsible scissor arms are spring

loaded, keeping the shelter in a projected position. When compressed by an incoming trailer the panels create an air tight seal. With a dock height of 48 inches (1219 mm) the truck shelter seals trailers from 11.5 feet to 13.5 feet (3505 mm to 4115 mm) high

from grade. Also seals trailers with width from 8 feet (2438 mm) W.2. Assembly: Dimensions for door openings up to 10 feet w by 10 feet h (3048 mm by

3.1 EXAMINATION
