Christmas EveChristmas Eve which falls on December 24, the last day of preparation for the Christmas holidays. In the Middle Ages it was the last day of the year, which started with just the feast of the Nativity on December 25th. Christmas Eve is the combined number of pre-Christian and Christian customs and superstitions.

HabitsThe Christmas tree has a long tradition in the Czech Republic, because in bourgeois families began to be popular in the 40s of the 19th century. The tree is adorned with candy, wood products, gingerbread, pastries and fruits especially apples. Glass ornaments began to be produced later and could only be afforded by a wealthy family. After dinner, it was customary to sing carols and possibly give out presents. Gift giving was originally linked to the December 6, St. Nicholas monument, but gradually this habit almost entirely shifted to Christmas. Traditionally, the one who "is giving out gifts", called the Baby Jesus, which probably reflects the belief that all the good that a person receives is from God.
