AVID is an elective class where students are taught strategies to increase their success in all of their classes.

The AVID elective fulfills the G requirement in the CSU/UC A-G entrance requirements.

AVID Strategies: Tutorials

Students come prepared with a higher level question about academic content.

They work collaboratively within a small group and with a tutor to address each other’s questions and provide academic support.

*2”-3” inch binder with section dividers labeled for each class

*Pencil pouch with necessary supplies (2 pens, 2 pencils, highlighter, colored pen)

*Daily use of agenda book in all classes

*No loose papers (use the rings)

All items are provided at the start of the year by NPHS, replacements available based on supply/funds

Perks of AVID

• Free tutoring from AP/IB and college students

• Field Trips to colleges or other cultural centers

• CVUSD will pay for all 9th and 10th grade

students to take the PSAT

• A connection to the campus community

Dual Enrollment Program

• Building classes through Moorpark College

for Dual Enrollment and college credit

• Classes would be available only to AVID

students
