CARE & MAINTENANCE
Care The TRV can be easily cleaned with a soft damp cloth wiping over the handle (plastic) and valve body.
Maintenance No maintenance is required for this product. When removing the TRV head for decorating or replacementpurposes, turning the head setting to “5”, this enables an easier removal. A manual shut off cap is provided withthe product to protect the valve whilst any surrounding maintenance work is undertaken.
For any further help or replacement parts please contact the Service Support Team on: 0800 1560050.
REGULATIONS
Regulations Terrier thermostatic radiator valves are approved to EN 215. For valves with compression connections, theconnections are approved to BS EN1254-2; threaded connections comply with BS 21 or BS 2779.
They are designed for use only in an indirect open-vented or sealed water-filled central heating and/or indirect hotwater system and for no other purpose.
They must be used within the pressure and temperature limits stated in the technical information table below.
Operating Conditions Maximum
System Water Temperature (at 5bar) 120°C
Operating pressure (at 65°C) 10 bar
Under no circumstances must they be used in systems containing liquids or solutions other than water. The onlyexception is the addition of a proprietary central heating corrosion inhibitor, cleaner or anti-freeze to the systemwater in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Terrier heating controls are manufactured to a strict quality assurance system in accordance with ISO 9000:2001.
GUARANTEE
Thermostatic and Manual Radiator Valves
Pegler Yorkshire Customcare 5 Year Guarantee - Terms & Conditions
Products are subject to a 5 year guarantee that is between Pegler Yorkshire and the final purchaser of theproduct.
The guarantee is subject to proof of purchase being supplied.
This guarantee does not affect any statutory rights the consumer may have in law.
The guarantee covers manufacturing or material defects and is not applicable where the product is fitted contraryto conditions of use in our literature.
The guarantee is subject to the following limitations:
1. The valves are designed for use only in an indirect open-vented or sealed water-filled central heating and/orindirect hot water system and for no other purpose.
2. They must be used within the pressure and temperature limits stated in the technical information table below.
Operating Conditions (Maximum) System Water Temperature (at 5bar) : 120 °C Operating pressure (at 65 oC) :10 bar
3. Under no circumstances must they be used to in systems containing liquids or solutions other than water. Theonly exception is the addition of a proprietary central heating corrosion inhibitor, cleaner or anti-freeze to thesystem water in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
4. Damage caused by abusive behaviour and accidental damage to the product are not covered by thisguarantee

4. Range Limiting or Fixed Set Tem
peratureThe terrier TRV has the facility for fixing the thermal head at a set tem
pera-ture or to lim
it the range of operation. This is achieved by using the twopegs provided with the product.
To obtain a fixed set point, locate a peg in the slot either side of theselected setting and push hom
e.
To set a limited range for tem
perature control, first locate a peg in theslot to the right of the viewing window for the lowest tem
perature settingrequired. Adjust the valve head to display the m
aximum
temperature
desired. Locate a peg in the slot to the left side of the viewing window.Push both pegs hom
e. The head will now be adjustable between theselected range of tem
perature.
5. Frost ProtectionIf you plan to be away from
home for any length of tim
e the TRV can beturned to the frost protection setting “
“. If the temperature falls below
7°C the valve will automatically open giving protection against freezing.
(Provided that the boiler remains in operation via a frost stat.)
6. Removal of Radiator
The “0” Setting on the TRV is a positive “Off” position. This will enable aradiator to be rem
oved for maintenance purposes.
To avoid accidental operating of the valve or damage whilst decorating
the manual shut off cap m
ay be used for added security instead of theTRV head. In this case, rem
ove the TRV sensor head by unscrewing thesecuring ring and replacing with the m
anual cap BEFORE removing the
radiator.

ngle TRV
The universal terrier TRV is designed to operate with water flow in eitherdirection. The 15m
m size m
ay be fitted in either the horizontal OR verti-cal position. The m
ost effective position is to have the head in a horizon-tal position where the greatest efficiency will be obtained. Straight T
RVStraight bodied valves should not be used in the top connection of a radiator as heat from
the radiator will affect the sensor.C
orrect installationsCorrect installation and m
aximum
performance will be achieved if:
The thermostatic head is not concealed behind furniture, curtains or
drapes, hidden under shelves, panelling or in a recess where air pocketscan occur. The therm
ostatic head is not exposed to direct sunlight or draughts.
Fitting1. Thoroughly clean any pipe work to be connected to the valve.
2. Drain down existing system, connecting a hosepipe to the lowest drain
off point available.
3. Screw 1/2” BSP tail into radiator tapping, using suitable jointingm
aterial e.g. PTFE tape.
4. Connect valve body to tail and tighten nut.
5. Cut and fit copper tube to valve body - tightening nut and cone.
6. Remove m
anual shut off cap and store safely.
7. Turn Sensor head to indicate “5” in setting window.
8. Position sensor head so that setting window can be viewed and handtighten securing ring to valve body.
9. Set sensor head to required temperature setting.
10. When fitting a lock shield valve, this m
ust be set to control the waterflow through the radiator to the correct level.
PLEASENOTE: To avoid the problem
of hydronic (water flow) noise it is recomm
endedthat the differential pressure does not exceed 0.2 bar. It is stronglyrecom
meded that a differential pressure valve should be fitted to any sys-
tem with TRV’s (Pegler order code for differential pressure valve
678021/22mm
) will be suitable for most dom
estic installations. Largersizes are available if required.

perating Description
The influence of uncontrolled heat gains from cooking, lighting and sunshineetc., can lead to wasteful overheating. The terrier TRV is designed to react totemperature fluctuations and allow you to control individual room tempera-ture.
The sensor head contains a powerful wax-filled sensor which senses tempera-ture changes. These variations cause expansion and contraction of the ther-mal element which is transmitted to a valve seat which regulates the waterflow to the radiator
2. Setting the TRV
Initially set the TRV to the required room temperature from the table belowe.g. Position 3/ 20°C. The TRV should be left for at least 1 hour to allow thetemperature to stabilise. If a higher or lower room temperature is requiredsimply adjust the setting accordingly and repeat the process.
3. Temperature Settings
The TRV settings are factory calibrated as indicated in the table below.
